brianstl
From Deb Peterson who is a source for much of MIllhaven info and thus maybe the source of his earlier report of RM being in town. A NOVELTY: Our town's "Tony" Novelly of Apex Oil fame was with an entourage at St. Raymond's Maronite Catholic Church on Saturday night for the Cedars Award dinner. The dinner honoree was St. Louis University head the Rev. Larry Biondi. At one point during the evening, Novelly was seen telling Biondi about his view on the ups and downs of SLU's basketball team. Novelly told Biondi that he wished they had hired Bobby Knight instead of Brad Soderberg in the first place, and that he'd help foot the bill if they hire a big name coach. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/colu...9E?OpenDocument
slu72
If this is true, this should further open Biondi's eyes to what kind of stuff happens with a good coach and a good program. Also, if true, I'm guessing the ball's in RM's court right now.
MusicCityBilliken
Bobby Knight? That's all Fr. Larry needs. A university president's nightmare. LOL
Grapes of Wrath
If Novelly had wanted to pay for a big name coach he would have done so by now: he has LOTS more money (estimates always start with a "B") than our Chicago friend.
Four Seventeen
He definitely helped out the old Christian Bros.
davidlee
John I believe Novelly graduated from St. James in 57'. Done OK for himself.
