brianstl
The more I think about this rumor, the less it makes sense. If you are a heaad coach and you want to get the maiimum exposure possible, you want to be in the A-10. A top flight SLU team will get for more exposure on a regular basis in the A-10 than it will ever get in the MVC. Even if the teams you play in the big cities of the A-10 are not the big dog in town, a top flight SLU team coached by RM coming to town will be big news. NashvilleBilliken
Yeah, it makes no sense. Rick would not make that a "demand". It's not like SLU would just say, sure we'll join the MVC first thing Monday morning right before I hop in the shower. Regardless of your stance on this issue, everybody is aware of Bernie's agendas. This is nothing more than that. C'mon people...
DavidKing
to think that a potential coach would make such a demand, and just as ridiculous to think that SLU would consider it.
billiken_roy
i think it is crazy to beleive majerus would think that a move to the mvc is beneficial. majerus wants that east coast media coverage. and true the a-10 gets stepchildlike treatment, it is still going to be more than the mvc will get outside of the midwest. folks need to let the mvc thing go. a move back to the mvc is admitting we will never be bigtime. the plan to align with dayton and xavier to position ourselves for the next round of musical conferences is still the best move. MusicCityBilliken
What would the A10 charge us to bolt? With RM's salary, his demands (> $ for asst coaches, > $ recruiting expenses and charters) and this added cost of leaving the A10, Bondi may really have to dip into the old endowment. Well with the market going up the last week (+300 pts), what the heck.
xfactor9600
There are generally many reasons a school joins a conference. When Xavier moved to the A-10 a few years back it was because they wanted in a better conference, but also because the school admissions board wanted more candidates (exposure) on the east coast markets. This could be what SLU is looking for as well. Just a thought.
