STLBlazer
It should be a very good game. Glad that it's on tv here because I can't make it down.
MusicCityBilliken
I plan on making the trip. It is about a 5 hour drive for me.
New2SLU
We're bringing our peeps from Bowling Green! Tom's phone has been non stop calls from old friends / students from UAB. I know some of the older UAB players that were on the team when Tom played there will be coming to the game to watch as well. Birmingham newspapers are really working up this game with Tom's return. Articles in Saturdays papers. Tom has told everyone on the SLU team how much this games means to him and how bad he wants to win. Look for a great game from our team! NashvilleBilliken
That's great news, New2Slu. As we have seen in recent weeks, when Tom is pumped up, he can really make a difference. If he has a huge game and the guys are just as pumped as him, we could come away with a HUGE road win. I can't wait....
BillikenButch
Charlotte was a tough loss, but we get them again. A loss to UAB likely locks us to no better than 4th in conference. We would be two games behind them, with a head to head loss and UAB remaining schedule is as about the same as ours. Every game is important, but this one is a signature game for the season. New2SLU
Nashville Billiken; We should meet and do lunch sometime and discuss Billiken B-Ball. I have not had a chance to meet any other Billiken fans or alumni in my area. I work in Nashville on 8th Ave North. Don't you work at Vanderbilt? davidnark
I agree this is an important game, but for RPI reasons. Conference standings are practially meaningless these days; all that matters is RPI.
Quality Is Job 1
The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee gives significant consideration to conference standings.
davidnark
I don't care what the NCAA purports to consider, but history tells us that if you finish with a top 40 RPI, you will likely make the tournament regardless of conference standings. Finishing in the top 5 in the conference will not get you in the tournament unless your RPI is high enough (see last year's SLU team). NashvilleBilliken
Yeah, you're just a few blocks from me at Vandy. We should definitely get together for some lunch and Billiken bball one of these days. I'd say let's meet and watch a game, but unfortunately, we don't get too many of those on TV around here. Next week is going to be pretty hectic with our new Children's Hospital opening, but maybe sometime in mid/late February...
