  1. I’m aware SLU played at the City training complex, but it was a closed event. I was looking forward to seeing them play at Hermann. I guess two losses in a row for City2 made them not want to have this, even though they don’t play this weekend.
  2. Looks like a change of opponent for tonight, they were saying it was St Louis City 2 on Saturday, now the web site says Maryville. Oh well Edit: look at the app it says City 2, look on slubillikens.com, it says Maryville. So I guess it’s definitely one or the other.
  3. Maybe if he went to D3 from JUCO he could have 4 more years on top of those?
  4. The weather here in St Louis is beautiful though. Oh well
  5. Maybe the plan is to get some of the volleyball and soccer players to play a second sport?
  6. Let’s hope Brady gets and stays healthy
  7. That is starting to be a good question. Just from looking at numbers of players who ran out of eligibility after last season (8) and the number of incoming freshman commits (3), it was obvious we needed to hit the portal hard. Add on other players leaving, and we need more. It amounts to 80% of all the minutes played last year, and about 88% of our points gone from last years team. Right now, it’s 4 returning players, 3 incoming freshmen, and 1 commit from the portal. I hear that we say we have what we need to compete, yet I see Brooklyn Gray making a recruiting trip to URI, where I think she will have a much harder time finding minutes than here. Yes, the portal is still open, yes there is plenty of time, but good players are committing to other schools now. While numbers of players might still be available, the quality ones will go quickly. We need some impact players to commit to us now before they are gone.
  8. Patrick Schultz did save a shot by Simon Becher in the 88th minute to preserve the 2-1 Columbus victory over City
  9. They made these new, the one difference between the old ones and these were the old had that SLU round badge on the left upper chest, the ones worn today had the modern looking Billiken face in its place. I think you could go with the SLU shield with the 10 championship stars above it on the left upper chest, short sleeves, and the Billiken face on each sleeve and you would have a great uniform jersey.
  10. 7-1 exhibition win over Wash U (D3 champs). Hard to keep track with all the new players. GK time was split 45 min/45 min between Emma Parker (trans from Arkansas) in the 1st half, Nimu Kamani 2nd half. Goal was given up in the 1st half, looked to be a little confusion in the defense. Players who looked like they played very good to me: Rylee Howard, Hope Kim, Julia Simon, Hannah Larson, Audrey Smith, Jordan Gary, Camille Welker, Caigen Leonard, Sarah Sarnowski. Lots of good offensive pressure and good passing to score the goals.
  11. We haven’t lost anyone else to the portal, so there’s a positive. As for additions,
  12. 4-3 win over Bradley, not sure much can be taken from this, but I liked the movement on offense, and the way the lines connected. All goals were on the run of play. Defensively a goal or two looked soft, but plenty of time to work on stuff. Great weather at Hermann Stadium.
  13. Gotta say I like the jerseys for the men’s team. Blue and white strips, with a subtle light blue sash on the front.
  14. So what you are proposing is a transfer fee like in soccer?
  15. The new president takes over July 1st, I believe.
  16. I would guess he or his lawyers see a way to get the year of eligibility back. How it will turn out I can’t begin to guess
  17. Yeah, but right now, no one else on the team is a point guard other than Bel Tillett, none of the incoming freshmen are point guards either. There still is time to get players, the women’s side seems a lot slower in action than the men’s side. But let’s get going.
  18. I thought the new rule was a hard limit of 15, including all scholarships and walk ons in that limit? I thought the purpose was to prevent teams from loading up with players. Or am I mistaken? Or, is it like everything else the past few years, just a court case away from completely changing?
  19. Question: with the new 15 man limit on the roster, are we now at the limit including walk ones from last year? Does this mean a new player coming on via the portal requires us to push someone off the roster? Is there a date the roster has to be in compliance by? Just wondering.
  20. There is room on the roster for a defensive roll player, so that’s fine. Tillett needs to bring in multiple high quality offensive players. This announcement would have gone down better if a couple of really promising offensive players were announced prior to announcing Jada Tiggett. I don’t want to let my own frustration with the roster crisis get in the way of welcoming a player who could help us.
