Loyola should take a step back next season. Their two best players are super seniors who took advantage of the extra year of eligibility. Interestingly, Loyola had four players do so, and only about 30 seniors who took advantage of the extra year across the country returned to their same school. I predict Loyola’s A10 trajectory will be closer to George Mason than VCU. I hope I am wrong.

The entire reason some of us called out the C2D numbers as absurd is because we understand how it works. If losing yesterday took our C2D to 0% (it did), then we did not have a 55% C2D before yesterday’s game.

IMO this year’s team has the makeup of a team more likely to take advantage of an NIT invite than our squad last year. I loathe the NIT, but it makes sense to play as many games as possible since most guys will return next season.

I think I’m the minority in that I MUCH prefer it after the game. I’ve never understood the arguments in favor of before the game (other than the awkwardness if there is a loss). The ceremony always feels rushed. Plus, a lot of people are not in their seats for pregame introductions, so the argument about people leaving after doesn’t add up. There is nothing better than saying farewell to a long-term contributor after a big win on senior night.

Good example, albeit one that is apples to oranges. From my perspective, it would be a different discussion if we were routinely making the NCAA tournament under Ford. Also, I am not convinced we would suffer greatly in recruiting, especially if we were able to retain Corey Tate. SLU has a lot to offer local recruits. That will not go away someday when Ford is not our head coach.

This is a really good post. I am curious though: what makes you think Ford’s ceiling is higher than what we have seen? You referenced his floor as being above middle of the pack in the A10 (seems pretty accurate), but everything we have seen to date says his ceiling is fairly close to the same level.

Davidson is a virtual lock to make the NCAA tournament. Continuing to put us above them in the C2D has to be trolling at this point.

There is a trend of teams making halftime adjustment and us failing to counter those. Who do you think is responsible for that? Even if the players are to blame for certain things (I agree this is the case at times), Travis recruited those players. At what point will you place blame on Travis? 2 more years of missing the NCAA tournament? Because if Perkins doesn’t return next season, I’m afraid that’s where we are headed.
