  1. According to A10 Talk, Robert Carpenter is moving out of St. B. He was on our list, but he had an underwhelming season in Olean. This site combines outgoing and incoming. https://www.a10talk.com/a-10-transfer-portal-tracker/
  2. Pure speculation on my part, but a handful of players may be waiting to see if the free transfer rule comes into play. It's been written that there may be an NCAA vote next month. If it comes into play, then some may jump in and be immediately eligible. If not, perhaps those players don't want to sit out a year and will continue with their current school.
  3. Here are the incoming, per Verbal Commits. Yes means immediately eligible George Washington James Bishop, 6'2" FR PG LSU Hunter Dean, 6'10" FR PF Southern Miss Brandon Leftwich 6'3" RSJR PG Mount St. Mary (Yes) Ricky Lindo, 6'8" SO SF Maryland Mathew Moyer 6'8" RSJR PF, Vandy (Yes) UMass Noah Fernandes, 5'11" FR PG Wichita State Mar Gasperini, 6'10" RSJR PF American (Yes) Rhode Island Malik Marti, 6'6" SO SF Charlotte Makhel Morris 6'10" FR PF Maryland Makhi Morris 6'9" FR PF Maryland St. Bonaventure Anthony Roberts 6'4" SO SG Kent State St. Joseph's Dahmir Bishop 6'5" FR SG Xavier Jack Forrest 6'5" FR SG Columbia SLU Marten Linssen 6'8 RSSO PF UNCW (Yes) VCU Brendan Medley-Bacon 7'1" SO C Coppin State
  4. CUSA has overtaken the A10 in numbers in the portal, 37 to 32. The new school is in bold. There are only a handful of A10 players moving to P5+1 schools. Most are lateral or downward transfers. 5. I hear you, but I'm not sure Coach is comfortable playing 10 with regular minutes. I have looked at his OSU years, and he typically would have 8 in double digit minutes with one, two or three also getting into most games, but at single digit minutes. I think it is a given that Goodwin and French will get their 30+ minutes per game, and Collins and Perkins will be with them or very close behind. It will be interesting to see what Coach does. ("We are deep" has been the reoccurring preseason theme for the last 2 seasons. Stuff happens.)
  6. Time will tell how Marten measures up. Now is time when we can all guess. We played 4 out a lot when either French or Bell was out. Maybe we won't as much this upcoming season. Hargrove played some very immemorable minutes in the post. He gave it his best, but he wasn't a post defender. Estimating minutes to be played is simply something to do in mid April. Everyone is right and everyone is wrong at this time of the year.
  7. Ok, my hope is that he can play 20+ minutes. If not, I think we missed the mark. I don't put much into estimating minutes, but...French will get his 30 to 35 minutes, Bell (he played 15 mpg this season) may get 15 to 25, leaving the rest primarily for Linssen. (Diarra could disrupt this estimate, and I hope he does.) I certainly hope Linssen is a better inside post player than Hargrove or Perkins. They are needed elsewhere on the court. If not we have Rashed Anthony #2. I hope for the benefit of Linssen, Lorentssen, and Strickland they can participate in some off season SLU weight training. Who knows when the campus will be open.
  8. Marten played behind Smits his fr year, hence more pine time than playing time. I imagine he will get his 20+ minutes again with us, if he performs, and I hope he can keep his 10.5/4.6 averages going. He needs some time in the weight room, or he won't survive practices in Chaifetz.
  9. Can someone please tell the fine folks in Knoxville TN and Ruston LA that they are politically, socially, and morally incorrect.
  10. Roy, when you and I were growing up, we were taught to call a woman a lady. It was a compliment. Now it isn't. Go figure.
  11. You can’t figure that out? Really? Look at who posted the remark. Got it?
  12. I wouldn't second guess any 18 or 19 year old who currently lives in Sweden for taking a pause on coming here this summer/fall. The list of unknown's is fairly long.
  13. 1) Yes, this was two years ago, but some serious time in the weight room is needed. 2) Okay, it sounds like some tampering went on from UNCW. 3) Let's hope he didn't need many retakes on the FT's.
  14. I wonder if this German takes the place of the Swede?
  15. When those decisions were made, I don't think I would call those companies 'not patriotic'. But that was then and now is now. Hindsight is pretty easy. For me we need a serious rethinking about moving jobs back into our own borders.
  16. If you have 13 scholarship players, 1, 2 or 3 (or more) are going to be unhappy with their playing time, and the chance of them leaving is higher than those with ample playing time.
  17. All of this political nonsense is fine, death counts, whatever. Here is, for me, a real issue. China is blocking movement of PPE, made in China by US companies, as they say they may still need them. This article is from the NY Post, but the same news is on many websites. After this is over, we need to move all these jobs back here. So we pay a little more, but we aren't at the mercy of the Chinese or any other country. https://nypost.com/2020/04/08/healthcare-workers-suing-china-for-hoarding-ppe/
  18. I'm not saying he is or isn't going to Kentucky. I don't know enough to say he has no shot at being a Wildcat. That is between Calipari and Toppin. You called his brother a one trick pony, and that one trick pony likely will be an NBA Lottery Pick. And I hope you agree, the fine farmers of Iowa (and everywhere else) are among the many whom I am extremely grateful to, for keeping milk, meat and eggs on my table during this pandemic. There is nothing wrong with Ames, Iowa
  19. Remember the 5/8 Tim Floyd rule, 5 max newcomers per year, 8 over 2 years. That blew up quickly as programs were running with 12 or 11 scholarship players due to the limit. I'm not sure if 2.5 ave per 5 would work. You limit the incoming, but you can't limit the outgoing transfers. So if a program such as Wichita State loses 7 players via transfer in one year, unless they load up on freshman, they might have to stop accepting incoming transfers and grab any available incoming freshman they can find. Wichita State would be in a serious bind the next four years if they take in 7 to replace the 7 they lost. I agree, some form of control is needed. I just don't know what it is.
  20. Did Jacob tell you he wasn't going to Kentucky after telling Rothstein they were on his list or did Calipari tell you he hasn't been invited? Maybe you are tight with Obi? You have better sources than Rothstein. I'm impressed. The Wildcats could be down their top 6 players from last season.
  21. Ok. I hope you are right. We have averaged 2.2 departures per year over the last decade. I don't see that going down.
  22. That is a very interesting question, one I haven't seen before....how will semester transfers be handled. Why would they have to sit out if end of season transfers don't? A kid from the Akron Zips burns Ohio State for 30 on Wednesday, and on Saturday he is a Buckeye.
  23. Later Rothstein added these two additionai effects. 1. Non blue blood programs in power conferences and most mid-majors will aim to primarily recruit transfers in an effort to preserve roster continuity 2. Fewer scholarships will be given to high school kids I am going to modify his second point to fewer high school athletes will be signed in the early signing period. If I'm a coach, I am saving schollies for the transfer window. The same number of scholarships will be available before and after this comes into effect. How and when they are offered will change. In November a coach will have not have a good idea what he will be losing in the transfer window or what he will need for the next season. I agree @bauman on any preseason speculation being more moot than it is today. We will be rooting for uniforms rather than who is in them.
