  1. I think GG's main problem was his shoulder. Shoulders are not mechanical parts that are broken or not broken. Shoulders, particularly after significant injury (like the one he had in his sophomore year) may never fully recover and are prone to sustain subsequent partial injuries which are by themselves not disabling for the joint but which limit its function to some degree. Situations such as these tend to generate repetitive small injuries which eventually really limit joint function. I cannot but think that GG played with a partially injured shoulder during his Junior year. In such cases the injury becomes chronic and much harder to repair. He could not play during his senior year because of this, and had surgery as we know. The real question with GG is whether his shoulder is ready to play or not. This is something that is not easy to evaluate. I do not think he will be able to play fully with that shoulder, however he may be able to make a valuable contribution to his team next year, or perhaps not...
  2. Did not mean to offend Bobby, the Mexico Olympics were not too early for me (I was young then).
  3. Bobby, it is not hilarious if you live at sea level and have to play at 7,165 ft of height. Stamina gets zapped out of you in a real hurry. It takes time for a person to physiologically acclimate to heights like these, nothing you can do over 2-3 days of stay. Years ago, when the Mexico City Olympic games took place, many national teams got to Mexico City months in advance to slowly train and acclimate to the height and relative lack of oxygen there (due to the height).
  4. That is nice, hope he finds a home there, both playing basketball, and doing Masters level work. All the best to Grandy.
  5. The daily edition of the PD is so thin it is ridiculous. The nice pieces I used to see in it are gone, replaced by ... what? Only the Sunday edition still has some degree of interesting stuff left as far as I am concerned, so that is all I am currently receiving.
  6. I believe Hilary is involved in that issue via donations, Reuters had something on this recently.
  7. Looks positive doesn't it? It may well be that the few people that were there plus the band and the SAINT TATUM chant were just what he needed. Very nice.
  8. Although it would have been nice to have 500 people out there to greet him, the fact remains that whatever the people at SLU do or do not do may have relatively little impact upon JT's decision. I think that if he decides to come to SLU he will be looking for the approval of the community he lives in, not for the fans at SLU. This is NOT a disaster, it is just a rough spot in the road to get JT here.
  9. Hey AlumniFan, some MO wine is very good, no sacrifice involved here. If you do not know how to find good MO wine try Adam Puchta Port, Bethlehem Valley Norton, Stone Hill Cross J Norton, or Stone Hill Sherry. Drink the Norton only when it is 8 years old since the vintage date marked in the bottle, it is like good Barolo, needs aging. Please do not put MO wine down, choose carefully and you will enjoy what you drink.
  10. Bills on Crews Control, I do not think you can talk about issues like these as if they were predetermined by divine intervention. JT will have to decide, and I agree there will be a lot of incentive and pressure favoring his going to the NBA after one year, but nothing is certain until it happens.
  11. No idea what EWU is like academically, hope he managed to get into a suitable Master's program, something he is interested in. Hope he does well there.
  12. Absolutely correct, the kids health needs, specially things like this, have to be a prime priority.
  13. Anyone who can make the all New York City teams has to be a good player. There may be better players than him, but just by the fact that he made these teams we can certainly say there are a lot worse players than himself in NYC.
  14. That would defeat the whole purpose of this exercise, would it not?
  15. From my point of view, we need no hats, and we need no hoopla of any kind. If he just tweets that he is committing to SLU that will be more than enough.
  16. Thank you Gopher+RamFan. It is good to hear from a VCU source. You guys will be fine.
  17. 3 star I agree this is exactly what VCU fans think "fine" means. That is too bad for them. They have to understand that from next year on the VCU brand of basketball is likely to be different than what it was under Shaka. Wade may become the target of a lot of negativity from the fans.
  18. The Biosteel game site is interesting. This is their first game ever to "celebrate Canadian basketball" (the quote is how they describe their purpose). The site apparently intends to post pictures, videos, and press releases of the game. Although these spots only contain the "coming soon" legend in them, it is probably a safe assumption that they will have pictures, videos and press releases of the game available at the site in the near future. I would suggest checking the site (I googled it) to see if they have posted anything every other day or so.
  19. Agree VCU will be fine, they will just have to accustom themselves to be a different VCU, with a different image most certtainly, and perhaps with a different level of performance as well. Wish all the best to the new coach.
  20. Kids are kids, those that signed at VCU because of Shaka want out. Why is this difficult to understand? Carter did the same thing to SLU, we wanted to play for Majerus, not for Crews, so he transferred.
