  1. That's funny. I can see someone whispering in his ear while Borzello was typing his Tweet, "you were supposed to mention Mizzou also."
  2. Pistol, Jr.: SG, 1'10", 8, Cincinnati, OH (High School TBA) – Offers: None. Interest: SLU. Latest News: Two* drawing strong interest from all over the country. He can dunk and likes the transition game. Still needs to work on his basic motor skills. Needs to add some weight if he wants to be able to take the ball inside at the college level. Twitter: none yet. Congrats, Pistol.
  3. As if there were not enough ammunition, if Grandy even ended up getting looked at by NBA teams, that would be the greatest indictment of the Crewsplatt era. As said above, it also would give us hope that the current guys may not be as bad as they were when they were shoulder deep in the dumpster fire of the past two years.
  4. Great move by Chris May. The only better move was hiring her in the first place. The question was going to be whether Stone wanted to parlay her success at SLU into another BCS job like the one she had a Wisconsin. Signing this deal is, hopefully, a sign that she plans on staying here long term. Get ready for some NCAA appearances by our women's team.
  5. 5. Watching Anthony Bonner and the Bills play in the NIT at Kiel Center with my father when I was a kid. Our seats were in the very top row. It's where my love of the Billikens began. 4. The Bills beating ranked Butler at home. My profile pic is the view from my seats as the students stormed the court. 3. Road trip I took with three other guys in approx. 1995 to see the Bills play Memphis (St.) at the Pyramid. Drove there in the morning and drove back after the game. We crammed about three days of stuff into one day. The Bill tied the game with seconds left on a half court shot, but lost in overtime. Two of our guys mooned the Pyramid and the Memphis fans out the side windows as we drove away. 2. Beating Butler at Hinkle Field House. Went with seven friends this time. Like a previous poster said, there were several hundred Billiken fans there. Whole weekend was a blast, including trying the shrimp cocktail at St. Elmo's. 1. Columbus weekend. Went with my father and my 9 year old son. Amazing memory. My father passed away a year and a half later. So glad we took that trip. So excited that the next batch of great Billiken memories seems to be on the way.
  6. Can players sign during a dead period, or a quiet period? If not, a decision could be made, but they have to wait out making it official.
  7. Odd that we are offering two star guys so early. I can only assume that Ford thinks the recruitment of these guys is going to blow up, and he wants to be able to tell them that he recognized their talent early on.
  8. I would guess that there are a lot of kids out there that just want to have their friends back home see that they declared for the NBA draft. With the new rules making it easier to do so, it is not surprising that it is happening so often. These kids were probably the same kids that were offer collectors in high school. The ones that constantly tweeted how they were blessed to have an offer from each big school they could snag one from.
  9. Forgot to mention that Chris May was there as well. He told to me that the program had been using 360 as a wine and dine location for recruits. Apparently, they have good relationship with the manager.
  10. I went. It was nice, but very informal. The Billiken crowd got mixed in with folks who were there getting drinks before the Cardinal game and Blues game. Coach Ford was there with his family. He shook hands and had polite, short conversations with the folks that showed up. You could tell that he was more interested, quite understandably, that his family was in town to see him throw out the first pitch at the Cardinal game than in working the room. When I briefly spoke to him, he said that he family still had to go back to Oklahoma to finish things up before being able to rejoin him in a few weeks. Coach Stone from the women's team was also there. Not sure as many people recognized her. I had a great conversation with her about the past season and the future of the program.
  11. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/05/17/hell-hath-no-fury-like-the-scorned-wife-of-the-fordham-mens-basketball-coach/ Check out this article about the wife of Fordam's Coach, Jeff Neubauer, going off on him on Twitter for his "indiscretions." He just got a contract extension in April until '20-21.
  12. Well said. Am I sad that Jolly is leaving? - No. Did he deserve the crap he is getting from this board? - Definitely no.
  13. They recently had an opening on their roster for a player with a super cool name.
  14. Bringing in these transfers is going to put us in a great situation in a few years. We all seem hopeful for a turnaround in year two when these guys start playing. Assuming we do right the ship in a big way that year, this will coincide with Ford being able to give out four scholarships to kids coming in the following year. The year after that, he'll have five available. The timing will be perfect for him to fully showcase is recruiting chops for a program in the rise.
  15. That article makes the move seem very unlikely. I wonder if Wichita State floating this to let other conferences, like the Beast, know that they are available and considering a move.
  16. http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2016/05/03/report-wichita-state-approaches-mountain-west/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs For those that think that the Missouri Valley is a destination for the Bills, probably not many on this board, please consider that Wichita State may move to the Mountain West. I mention this, because if Wichita State considers the Mountain West to be a step up, then clearly going to the MO Valley would be a big step down for us. Actually, if Wichita State joins the Mountain West, the Mountain West would be rather comparable to the A-10. It would be like having an A-10 on the west coast.
  17. Any word on the kid from Rutgers? He seemed like the guy we had the best shot at.
  18. Someone mentioned this already, but what is the difference then between receiving a release and not receiving a release? It seems like that is always mentioned as part of the process.
  19. I'm confused about this transfer thing. Somebody help me out. Whitt is transferring. He can transfer anywhere he wants, right? If he doesn't receive a release, he has to sit out a year. If he does receive a release, he does not have to sit out a hear. Correct? There has been discussion that Whitt may not be considering Mizzou, because. . . . ., is it because he would have to sit out a year, because Arkansas would not give him a release to transfer inside the SEC? I ask all this, because guys that are commenting seem to think he would have to sit a year. If he gets a release and comes here, it is my understanding that he would not. Help me out.
  20. In fairness, I said the last six months. I agree with what you said about the excitement over recruiting, but that was before realizing that we were headed for another bad season and feeling like we were never going to be enticing to any decent recruits ever again.
  21. A four star smart kid should be at the top of our recruiting list. Of course, that is assuming the staff agrees with his four star assessment.
  22. +1 The folks at Vianney are going to take the high road and will never discuss the true issues that occurred. Should we write the kid off because of his experience there? No. He might turn his attitude around. But all factors have to be taken into account. If we end up bringing him in, and he exhibits the same attitude he had at Vianney, this board will fault Ford for ignoring the warning signs.
  23. Just looked at the Future 150 again and the rankings have updated: 20. Carte'Are Gordon 37. Tim Finke 45. Jontay Porter 53. Courtney Ramey Also, found this interesting relating to the conversation a few days back about fertile recruiting grounds geographically, but there are four kids in 2018's top 75 players on Rivals that are within a three hour drive of St. Louis (actually within the top 53 players). There is only one kid in the top 75, from New Albany, Indiana, that is within a three hour drive of Cincinnati. I'm not trying to start any argument about which area produces better talent. I know that Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio is very good basketball recruiting territory. I'm just noting that in 2018, there is a lot of top level talent in and around St. Louis. P.S. I didn't see Easley in the top 75. Not sure why when you pull out the Top150 it only shows you 75 players.
  24. I've heard some things that would make me question whether he would be a positive or a negative for SLU. Just because a guy is highly ranked does not mean that we should automatically be recruiting him. Other factors come into play other than your Rivals ranking.
