  1. I'm sorry but if you think SLU has better facilities than some local colleges overall, I'm not arguing with anyone, just my opinion and others as well. SLUH has a better baseball field than SIUE and us. Hermann has Johnny on the Spots as main restrooms. Chaifetz arena is a top ten D1 arena in the nation hands down, take that out of the equation and Lindenwood, Wash U and SIUE overall, excluding where their teams play basketball is just as good or better in some sports than us. This isn't a bash SLU when they are down, it's a reality check. People are bashing D2 and D3 programs and the reality is they are possibly passing us by in certain areas. That's all I am saying, has nothing to do with land limitations or location. I don't blame AD on this one, believe university higher ups need to see value in top tier facilities, not named Chaifetz Arena.
  2. Lindenwood is D2.....minus the Chaifetz.....their sports complex is D1 level. Again minus Chaifetz, Edwardsville has better all round facilities than us. If the right people aren't aware of what is going on with local D2 schools compared to SLU they need to take a drive around St Louis. Wash U is D3 and they have better facilities as well....again minus Chaifetz. This thread is dumb but maybe we should be careful making fun of D2 D3 schools until we have much better facilities than all of them like a D1 should.
  3. I feel bad for the players, not their fault they've been put in this position. That being said next season as it stands right now we only lose Ash and replace him with a freshman. I just don't see where we go from here. I really don't.
  4. Seeing the arena packed for a woman's game was one of the best things I've seen in a while. Very good game, great crowd and the events in the hallway were great. Plus, always fun to beat Dayton!
  5. Three years ago this kid would have been a team manager.
  6. This is one of the best events I've been to in a long time at SLU.
  7. Who has a tougher job in St. Louis, the SLU ticket manager or the Rams ticket manager as everything stands today?
  8. I bet with the way the team is playing it makes more sense to let the box office seat people on day of game rather than let people select a seat at home. Just a guess but I doubt there isn't a reason. If I were them I'd want as many people on lower bowl for tv and such so it looks better.
  9. Read in PD article that Coach Bronson will throw his name into the Wisconsin coaching search. Anyone have more info about this? He seems like he's the only one that knows our offense. Don't want to lose him!
  10. Wasn't just a few years ago that Tanner Bronson was the clear apparent coach in waiting after Coach Majerus retired? How quickly things change.
  11. As things sit today we will bring back the same group next year minus Ash for freshman Zeke Moore....I think there is some talent there but absolutely no consistency. Not that these guys just need better coaching, they lack talent, just saying I think if coached better maybe .500 group.
  12. Santa was very impressive, plus free picture! The balloons, painters, performers the last few games have been worth coming just for that stuff alone if you have kids or grand kids. The last few games the stuff during the games is better too with lion king, good music, not too loud, it's fun and my grand kids loved it. Now if only team can catch up to game day entertainment/festivities we will be back in business. Kudos to the athletic department for making lemonade out of lemons.
  13. If we head into conference 5-7, start off with RI, then GW and then VCU! Hard to believe these next 3 games are make or break season-wise but, it is what it is. Doesn't get any easier, hope this group can show some fight.
  14. The entire deal....coaches, athletes, staff, facilities. Why put all the investment into athletics and not want to be the best Jesuit program in nation? That's more university overall than athletics. Everyone matters in an organization. Again just curious to what others think should be the bar? There are Jesuit schools that spend the money to be top end, not knocking SLU but Lindenwood has facilities that are very nice and even I'd bet nicer than a lot of other D1 programs. It just looks like they get more from the university side.
  15. I think overall the profile is higher, I'm just curious to know where the bar is set. We will never be Notre Dame or even close to a Mizzou....so what's the expectation? What department across the country should we strive to be like?
  16. This isn't a knock on our department thread, but what is a realistic example in a perfect world we want our institution to work towards? Xavier? Creighton? Gonzaga? Georgetown? There seems to be so much potential and the department is stronger overall than ever, this includes commitment from university above all else.
  17. What are the radical changes everyone keeps mentioning?
  18. Why can't you be excited for both men's and women's basketball? The women's team works just as hard on the court and in the classroom as the men. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but this year the women are really fun to watch. My point was.... seeing over 7,000 people at a women's game is something I never thought would happen! The surprise and energy in the arena was a top Chaifetz era moment....hands down! Nothing more, nothing less. Plus, for the programs sake.... why wouldn't you want every program thriving? I love the entire program! BTW....thanks for giving us a snapshot on why men's basketball is better to the general public, had no clue men's games were more popular, bigger, faster, better tv ratings, revenue, etc! Seriously thank you!
  19. I've been to plenty of games. To have over 7000 at a women's game ranks right up there. No one probably ever thought that would happen. Ever.
  20. First off Lisa Stone has something really special going on with the women's program and that team is starting to turn the corner in a major way! Last night was one of the most entertaining events on and off the court I've ever been to at the arena. Great job by Coach Stone and the ladies and great job by the athletic department last night. It's been a tough season for the men, but this was a defining moment for the women's program. Additionally, "moment of loudness" gave me goose bumps! Over 7,000 people at a women's game?!!! Wonderful.
  21. One small thing I noticed on my season tickets.....The Harris Stowe game is on the top right side of the page so you won't tear the booklet apart if it was on the inside cover, then the fifth game starts over from the bottom right side. Work right to left ticket-wise, small thing which makes a big difference. I've seen this done before but few places think about doing it, one of my friends thought he was missing the first three games of the season and was upset until I told him to look at the top right. Granted it looks weird at first but it definitely was forward thinking. Good job all around very pleased with the over all look of the season tickets and functionality. Also like the separate coupon books and all the info in the books/schedule on back. Now all ready for the season to start! Go Bills!
  22. Good call guys, can't believe I said not to buy beer! I owe you two one after the VCU and Dayton wins this season!
  23. I got my renewal and the tickets went up $10 but donation stayed the same....no problems here. My nephew's seats actually were cheaper! $300 down to $250. Looks like they are trying to do a better job of getting more people in the seats and a $10 increase for the season is the one beer you don't buy at a game.....also aren't we playing more home games?
