I will not sit here and listen to any Gerry Pollard slander. Pollard is a professional official. Lisch shouldn't have done the crime if he didn't want to do the time.

Pollard is in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, just FYI. He has an AOL email address. That all checks out. :)

Other than the insane out of bounds call by "TV Ted" we got very favorable foul calling in that game. They whiffed on one or two Loyola fouls, I need two hands to count all the reach ins we committed without repercussion.

Please don't start blaming stripes for this. What a joke. Bad teams that made bad mistakes blame refs. Even CTF didn't blame the refs for this debacle.

It’s amazing his initials are TV, too. Just can’t make that up. I was speaking in jest, but you are right, Soderball. Only one Valentine hurt us yesterday. I assumed it would be Teddy going in. I was wrong about that. My apologies, sir. Good post.

If I had a dollar for every time Ford says “that’s on me” during a post game presser with Rammer and Earl, I’d have a lot of dollars.  Maybe that says something, but what would I know

But you would be blessed, too. Count em.

Did anyone notice the SLU AD Christmas YouTube Video?  It only has 300 or so views as of my last check and it has no likes.  Ford bumbles through a message in which he says blessed about 253 times (our current net rating coincidentally).

That's just sad for a D1 Athletic Department.  My kid could put a Lego stop motion video on YouTube that would have more views.  The social media marketing is horrific under Director May.

  5. God bless us, everyone.

Harkens back to Columbus 2012, I’m walking by the Shoe at tOSU and I see this guy in SLU gear - we had just knocked off Memphis - I said “go Bills!” He said “you may know me as ‘the Wiz,’ and I was like “he does exist!”
An absolute highlight of the weekend, only to be topped by Dr. Chaifetz dropping his AMEX black card at the bar after beating the Tigers.

Merry Christmas to the Wiz & Fam and all of you fellow Billikens. Best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2024!

Fair enough and I appreciate the loyalty……only it wasn’t given in return from the hillbilly nor the franchise near the end.

And Nelly bursting onto the music scene. From Spoonball to the Super Bowl loss to the Patriots, St. Louis felt like it was the center of the universe.

Then the world gave us Mike Martz and his collegiate basketball counterpart, Uncle Brad. Oh, how the universe can flip on a dime! Don’t forget Chingy.

Things are the way they are. There is no point in being bitter and upset about something that we have no control over. You do the best you can with the resources available to you and that is the way it has to be. Dreams are dreams, not reality.

I think the IVYs make enough income to compete with the power schools but I just do not think they are particularly interested in spending tons of money in sports.

The Ivies don’t even offer athletic scholarships. But they do have enough money & pride where you don’t see Harvard being Ohio State’s cupcake game. Those awards go to a Youngstown State or Eastern Kentucky. But the last time any of those games between Harvard (or any Ivy) and a “power 5” were relevant was when Grantland Rice was covering it.

You take Z to Bull Feathers and I'll take Heinrich to Laclede St. Bar and Grill. Let's see who pulls the most Box.

It’s a damn shame both of those places only exist in our memories. And now I’ve got that damn song from “Cats” stuck in my head. F.

I am telling you all's they face guarded, double and triple teamed and beat the hell out of jimerson.  Jimerson imo let them and got the ball to his teammates instead of forcing something.   Jimerson was fine.   Instead of tearing down Gibson, give credit for his teamwork and the execution by the other billikens

The defensive scheme executed most perfectly by that Gustavson kid at Richmond. They’ve always known each time Gibson comes home to make his life a living hell. That’s the playbook.

I don't remember Faust winning the national championship

Hahahah not even close! No I was just echoing your sentiment that it’s foolish to take someone from the HS ranks to the upper echelon of college sports. Faust’s hiring was the death knell for Moose Krause. Going that route would be the death knell for any athletic director moving forward.
And, of course, Faust is a Dayton alum.

i agree with torch and find it hard to believe a fandom that is so intent of becoming more than an annual mid major also run would want to turn to a high school coach to take over their program.

that said, if tatum goes to australia has success for a few years then comes back and serves his time going through a school's system and earns a shot, then i have no problem with that.   but to just hand him the keys to the car from the jump?   no way.

You’re old enough to remember Gerry Faust. Cincinnati Moeller to Notre Freaking Dame.

Again, just to prevent misinformation, the first technical was for Sincere clapping at the referee after a call he disagreed with. Somewhat soft, but if you look any referee in the eye and aggressively clap at him after a call you don’t like, you’re getting a T most of the time.

The second technical was for physical contact (a shoulder bump) between the ref and Sincere, as Sincere was walking by him toward the bench.  This was not apparent on the broadcast, but was very apparent in person.  Some are saying the ref initiated contact. I could not tell, but the fact that none of the SLU coaching staff was up in arms defending Sincere, when the incident occurred right in front of them, seems to be telling.  Either way, staff and teammates should have had him far away from that ref, who was clearly running hot.

I don’t know what Travis and Rammer said about the incident after the game, but from seeing it pretty clearly live, then rewatching on the broadcast (where again, the physical contact with the ref was not shown) this is the gist of what went down.

That was a d2-quality crew last night and Sincere paid for their lack of decorum. Not even Teddy Valentine would have run a kid for that. He ain’t the second coming of Rasheed Wallace, but I appreciate his zeal for chirping a bit. This team needs a spark plug like that.

Alford left Iowa a dumpster fire. If you think Situation 1 and 2 at SLU were embarrassing, you might be surprised at the off court happenings of the Alford era in Iowa City.  Yes, he didn't ruin every program he took over, he absolutely gets credit for ruining the Hawkeyes.

Man, I almost forgot about Pierre Pierce. Lord have mercy. What a $hitshow. Alford is a Title IX admin’s worst nightmare.
