  1. I agree on labs... And Yuri made a couple mistakes just prior to the 9-0 final run, specifically the drive into the lane to get his zero chance shot blocked and his bad pass when double teamed....he immediately made up for both of those with great defensive plays, taking the charge on the other end and then deflecting a pass. But like you said, when he needed to take over and make things happen he did the job and did it well. Something we haven't seen much of at the end of games this season.
  2. Yuri was directly responsible for our final 9 points over the last 2+ minutes, without Yuri we lose that game. He took over on that court tonight when it looked like it was over, even waved off the coaches calling a timeout at the end before drawing the late foul and hitting the game winner.
  3. Just looked at the accomplishments of that amazing class of Jett/McCall/Evans/Loe.....impressive 76 Classic MTE Tournament Champions in Anaheim (3-0) 2x A-10 Regular Season Champions 1x A-10 Tournament Champions Ranked 3 of 4 years (#23 in 11-12, #13 in 12-13, #10 in 13-14) 5 Wins Against Ranked Opponents 3 NCAA Tournament Wins over 3 Appearances 1 A-10 Conference Player of the Year 1 AP HM All American
  4. THE best recruiting class in SLU History in that video! Those were some fun years...
  5. I am with you on this. I can't imagine that the increased expectations by asking them to play at more games and maybe some events, frequently on short notice (48 hours) would create a mental health issue. I can see that it could possibly worsen already established mental health issues that someone may have, but not actually create them. I could understand wanting scholarship opportunities for students to grow the band, more pay for the director, etc, but going the mental health route seems like a play that makes no sense to me. I'm not a doctor and maybe lack sympathy because I deal with constant increased expectations and frequently changing schedules, but I feel like that was the wrong angle to take, if DSB's post is accurate.
  6. They need to stick with what he does best, he is not Jett in late close game situations, so he shouldn't try to keep doing Jett things. We can win with Yuri in these situations, but the game plan needs to exploit his strengths. If our plan is to take the ball at multiple defenders, trying to draw contact and finish, Thatch should be the one doing it.
  7. Too much sense in this post, there is no room for this type of response on this message board!
  8. He looked better because it was the first game over the last several games that he went away from the wild drives to the basket, trying to draw contact and just throwing the ball up. Repeatedly doing that is what had made Ford pull him. He went to mid range jumpers and threes against Drake and resulted in him finding success in his offensive game.
  9. You must not have been within earshot of section 108 last game.....
  10. Maybe he was texting while driving under the influence. That could explain him operating his vehicle off the roadway.
  11. 3 things I learned while playing craps with Rick Pitino and Joe Hassett a few weeks back in CT... 1. Hassett was one hell of a shooter back in his day 2. The St. John's job is Rick's if he wants it next year 3. Rick is actually 72 years old
  12. You are way off. The offer did not evaporate and he had other options than just TN or SLU.
  13. I wonder when Pitino takes over the St. John's team next season if he will schedule a HH series with us.
  14. Did you know that wild rabbits do not actually eat carrots and the reason people feed their pet rabbits carrots is because of the cartoon Bugs Bunny? In 1940 Tex Avery produced A Wild Hare(Bugs Bunny's Debut). Bugs' voice, his carrot and his famous line "What's up Doc" was all a spoof of the movie It Happened One Night. Clark Gable's character ate carrots in a scene with a female character, while another character in the movie continued to refer to Gable as Doc.
  15. I am surprised a guy like Cockburn couldn't find a spot on an NBA team
  16. No, he can flip flop back and forth all season while on a 2way contract. Other teams only get a shot if the 2way contract is terminated.
  17. In the last 5 minutes of the game, we had 7 possessions between the point we went up 58-53 and the point the shot clock was turned off. The following is the time left on the shot clock in those 7 possessions when we took a shot.... :17, :14, :16, :07, :15, :18, :17 I wouldn't call that slowing it down. We pushed it at the end and took a shot when we had the opening. Missed free throws lost that game.
  18. You are wrong, he didn't slow it down in the final minutes.
  19. Need to continue limiting 2nd chances. Great job on defensive boards in the 1st half.
