  1. That was not Phi Kappa Theta it was another fraternity. Big Bills basketball supporters and avid Majerus supporters. However, it was awesome and I'm thinking we need to rally them for a big "Bring Ellis Home" rally on grand, take pictures and video and then send it to the NCAA clearinghouse. Maybe make a video and put sappy music behind it with pictures of ellis, and slu students weeping or something. I don't see how Ellis could not be on campus within a week after receiving that video. I mean they got Majerus to keep his job, I figure they must be able to get Ellis on campus. Why stop there lets go after Brad Beal with a street rally while were at it.
  2. I am a student and I check the blog several times every day. I love bills basketball and hearing the scoop and hearing other peoples opinions. I know someone said on this thread earlier that people are scared away from all the debate. I am by no means scared of the debate. I just get annoyed at times concerning what the debate turns into being about. Most the time it is about bills basketball and those times are phenomenal. I will debate all day about which player is better than another or so on. I stop reading threads when people start getting in hissy fits with each other about how so and so is always posting in such a certain way and then the debate turns into something totally different. so to say students are at times scared away by the arguing, i would say by no means, I think it turns into being really stupid and not worth my time sometimes when it doesnt become about basketball anymore. that being said for the most part i love the board and still check it every day and 95% of the debate is great and entertaining but there is always every once in a while when a thread just turns really dumb and I wish people could just let things be a little more.
  3. I was wondering if anyone had subscribed to Blue Ribbon and seen what they have said about the bills in there?
  4. I just wanted to say something about student apathy. First off, I went to probably 3/4 of the home games last year and we had a descent crowd for every one. If there is something to say for the atmosphere created at home its our home record. It was pretty phenomenal last year. (contrasted with our horrifying away record) I don't think the football team thing would do all that much. There are plenty of teams who are basketball oriented with no football team and have great interest. I think if we get in the tourney in the next three years, stuff will change. Think about what makes big state schools football games the thing to do. There is tailgating and more than a sporting event, its a social event. I love the bills and I love college basketball and I will go to the games no matter what. But as soon as we start getting descent and as soon as we can get people to start wanting to have parties before and after the games, then the so so fans or even the not fans at all will come and get rowdy. And when the student section is really rowdy I think season ticket sales will go up because the random st. louis fans who didn't before have a particular allegiance will come and see the atmosphere will want to come again. Also I think once stuff like that gets started and maybe gets going for just a couple years then traditions can be started. I will be devoting my apartment Junior year to do my part in the festivities. But have faith about the student section. Its gonna be a process, but I really do believe that in 2 or three years it could be pretty sweet. It would also be cool if SLU could set aside some place for tailgating. I dont know how realistic that is but just a thought. As for blue crew, I'm not breaking new ground saying they could do a ton better. But free shirt nights have really been cool atmosphere with the blue out and white out. Also some new cheers would be good and maybe a good dosage of controlled heckling. It just takes people to go out and do it so for any current students who read, take the initiative and change the ###### that sucks right now and in a year or two things may just snowball into awesomeness.
  5. Yeah I would agree with that list. I would say what I am looking forwarded to most is seeing how the new freshmen play. My guess is that CS will give the most to the team earliest. I also am very excited to see JJ. If he put up an average of high 20s ppg in high school, I would hope he can put up at least some numbers on the next level. As for the other freshmen, I am excited to see them but I don't have specific expectations, however, I would love to be pleasantly surprised.
  6. I am 90% sure that #10 was Ronald Reagan, the great 3 guard for the Bills back in the day. Someone may disagree but I am pretty sure it was either him or Joe Pesci. I don't remember perfectly.
  7. So i went to this Q&A session with Majerus last night on the bottom floor of reinert. It was awesome. First off, hearing Majerus speak in that setting was awesome. I have a ton of respect for that guy. He says things as it is whether or not its really politically correct. He said a few things of interest. He said that we probably wont have the luxury of redshirting CR because Ellis is so iffy, even though it would be best for the team and him if we were able to do that. He said that CS was tough and good. It sounds like he may be ahead of the other freshmen. He seemed to point out that Reid would have a similar problem that KC had in that they know they're good players but they might just be a little too timid on the court. What I really like about Majerus is that he recruits a lot off of passion for the game. He talked about finding the guys who's hearts are really in it, that they're not just doing it because they're talented. He said KM and CS got that competitive fire in them. He said that he is trying to get that a little stronger in WR and absolutely stronger in KC. He also said that BC is so tenacious but he is trying to get him to slow down a bit. Overall he said this year might be a struggle and a lot of uncertainties, nothing we dont know already but he seemed genuinely excited about where the program is going. Can't wait for the 30th to see these guys in action.
  8. Saint Louis University..... They haven't lost in decades.
  9. They are pretty nice looking. To be honest though I wish we would go with a super simple, classic look sometime. I want to see these new ones more but some time it would be cool to go back to the Macauley look from way back in the day. I mean model the top after them but maybe the shorts are a touch too short for any male's preference these days. http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskb.../022707aaa.html Something classic that wont ever go out of style.
  10. No chance we get 14th. People look at our age and automatically think we are gonna fail but we have a ###### ton of talent and if Majerus works with that talent well, like he cultivated last years group, I predict us getting right around were we were last time at least under 10 in the conference. And USA today, you can blow me because ill put money down we make the tourney in the next three years for sure and I am guessing we get a high seed as soon as next year. Brackets will be filled out soon... but for real Ellis, just come hang in the USA already.
  11. First off that sounds great about this guy. I mean we have descent potential at just about every position so far. We need another 4 or 5 though for sure. But I have more of a question for updates or peoples opinions. Is Ellis for sure a no-show? Either way we should be recruiting another big dude but Ellis would help so much and would make it less of an absolute necessity if we don't land a solid big man.
  12. Yeah I agree. I think that BC guarded Willie because he's the only one who could potentially guard him on the floor. I would imagine that Conklin would play the 4 position over CR but other than that I think the starting 5 would be CR KM WR FJ CS. CR looked significantly stronger than Smith, but smith had some strong put back dunks. Justin Jordan also looked good. He is absolutely not 6 foot but he was also sporting a thick mustache, which was awesomely bold. But for being only like 5'9 that guy gets up. he can dunk with ease. My guess is he will be a great player in a year but he has some shooting to work on. Cassity as far as I saw looked exactly like he did last year. Missing threes and turnovers, but I think for sure he mights do better in a more controlled environment. Also at the end of the game that had a dunk contest and Kwamain did things I had no idea he was capable of doing. He had Justing Jordan stand in front of the hoop and he ran jumped over him and did a through the legs dunk. Unbelievable. Reid was probably the least impressive. I dont know in what context I would want to see him on the floor.
  13. Sunday night at Simon Rec, the entire bills team scrimmaged for a good hour or so. I am not sure how many people saw it but it was cool to see the new recruits in action. It was blue vs white jerseys and it seemed pretty clear that blue was the starting 5 (mitchel, Salecich, Femi, Willie, and I think Remekun). Kwamain is still the absolute man and the clear leader of the team. Willie was the most dominant force in the game. Just makes it even more clear that we really dont have another clear center on the team. Femi and Remekun looked stronger physically than the people who guarded them but both also might need a little tune up on shooting. However, the person I was most impressed with was Salecich. He was gaurded by Jeff Reid and it wasn't much of a contest. Salecich had to have been shooting over 60% from beyond the ark. I probably saw him drop 7 threes or so. From what I know about the Australian team, Ellis was much more of a dominant force than Salecich, which makes me ever more excited or depressed about the arrival or whatever of Ellis. Just thought I'd give an update on how the guys looked.
  14. I completely agree. I think that has to be accurate. I will also say I saw Christian Salecich two or three times over the weekend. You've gotta figure these guys are probably the only two aussies on SLUs campus, and having both played on the same team for so long they must be good buddies and I figured if he was here he'd be hanging with him or the other basketball players who are around here and there. I say no way hes on campus just yet.
