  1. Don’t stress out about the backup point guard, either we won’t need it or it will be a mess. I like Thatch and our guys, just hard to replace Yuri. I don’t know why Travis doesn’t always have two or even three PGs on the team. Why not an offer to Rob Martin, etc. It is probably just harder to recruit than we think.
  2. I wonder what difference UMSL’s recent success as a basketball team makes? I didn’t see the game, but UMSL has been a solid team in their division, right? Maybe that is the difference between a 20 and a 40 point win.
  3. Note to the athletics department: it is kind of lame following a game on Twitter and a message board.
  4. So, this is bad for the A10, and I hate to bring up Lindenwood again, but they are Dayton’s first game! I said that Lindenwood couldn’t win this game… .no way.
  5. Seniors do not need a warm up game. New players need it.
  6. SLU fans need to get on this and vote 400 times for expansion. No one would benefit more from Expansion than the Bills over the past 3 years. Same with the A10 in general. An A10 team is always on the last 4 out.
  7. That is overly pessimistic. A rational approach would be to add the next 20 teams ranked in the Net. I would expect that there may be a push to give 2 auto qualifiers to certain conferences, but that may not happen. The interesting question in the future is how this will affect conference alignment by mid-majors. Will more conferences be created with AQ’s? It would be easier early on to get approval for one, for example, if the top half of the A10 wanted to break away.
  8. He is a senior, probably skipping practice, faking injuries. You gotta just watch Ferris Bueller’s to get back into the mindset.
  9. Well, that is the thing, it is not 1/3. It is about 27% of the field that will exist in 2023/4. The theory for the expansion is that more teams are now in D1. Like from 300–>350 over 20 years. The long term plan might be to peg the number of schools in the Tournament to around 25%. So, maybe the future update would put the field at 90 total teams, and go from there.
  10. The topic of NCAA Tournament Expansion was brought up somewhere, and I could not fine it, so I will bring it up here. I really agree with the expansion. It feels like teams at our level are getting unnecessarily limited. I also think it will add more viewers to the Tournament, as smaller conference fans will be more invested in their teams. More overall interest, and ultimately more money. That said, how many Tournaments would Travis have made if 96 Teams were let in, 3 or 4? I think that is about where he would be if he coached SLU at the same level in the 1990’s. Too bad we cannot make it retroactive!
  11. I don’t know. I can remember making some pretty athletic plays during beer pong and washers. Hard to avoid injuries when you go all out.
  12. I thought the content was phenomenal. The breakdown was great. But I also cringed at the thought of whether his advice aligned with the coaching staffs. I can imagine Ford wouldn’t want that. It is also a distraction. Bummer.
  13. I would not call that a below average athlete. Same size as J. Bell, but has the ability to drive from outside. If he shoots the three, then he could be an outstanding pickup. Certainly would be a compliment with the current bigs in the fold.
  14. If my approached lacked creativity, I will eat my hat.
  15. Here you go. Team Billiken: General mischief, Japanese idolatry, Buddist-influenced Charm doll.
  16. I don’t really watch the NBA or follow D. Green, but I always thought he came across intelligently. Similar to Barkley or Rodman. A smart bruiser that balances the physical and mental very well, and makes up for his size. That video basically destroys that image. That will lose him a lot of money. Might lose them some games. Certainly, a ref who sees that won’t give him the same slack when someone says he is playing dirty.
  17. Wait, could we go to the MVC in Football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Well, in 1972, yes. As a final note, I will stop posting on this subject. I like and respect ND, but I wanted to vent after their slow start. They seem to have little sense of urgency, or competition, to maintain their fan base. I think that limits their success.
  19. And to bring this ridiculousness full circle. My interest in SLU Football is blue font. I don’t think it would or should happen. That said, I want something other than ND for Catholic football, and don’t tell me Boston College, I am not that Catholic. My imaginary school would be in a place where football matters and a program that actually puts winning first.
  20. No Southern Catholic school on that list. When Catholics cross the Mason-Dixon Line, do they lose the ability to charter schools? There has to be some Catholic U’s in Florida, Louisiana, or Texas, right? Why doesn’t at least one of them commit to football, join D1, and build a program. They should have a niche in the South, tons of talent and no Catholic school to even play D1 for within 900 miles.
  21. Lindenwood’s football jump will be interesting to watch. I wonder what the odds are that they will be in D1 in football in 5 years? Is it a sure thing, or more like 10%? Also, it is easy to compare their previous success at lower levels and just assume they will find the same thing in D1. That is short sighted. This is just a much more competitive level. So, we will see.
  22. I have never wanted a SLU football team till this year. I don’t think I can stand to watch Notre Dame anymore. If I have to watch a team fail through incompetence, then let it be SLU. So, let’s ‘wake up the echoes.’
  23. Everyone would all of a sudden have a story about how they were always a SLU fan. Die hard Mizzou fans would go on and on about how it is Mizzou’s turn next year… .for the next decade.
