  1. That's a shame, I often drink and post. Its a specialty of mine.
  2. You still haven't explained your name. And I have also previously stated on this board, my spelling is terrible.
  3. I don't really understand your name (maybe you were drunk when you register and you are now)? I didn't know a 6-9, now 7-9 team is defined as "good." Please explain your reasoning here. Because I laughed out loud to hear you say that Temple was a "good" team. I suppose St. Bonnie is a "good" team also with a 4-13 record or whatever they are, same with Duquense! My advice, lay off the vodka induced blue kool-aid and don't post statements that just embaress yourself.
  4. Since I am relatively new to the SLU program, within the last 6-7 years, when was the last time SLU ever fired a coach??? It seems like we are too big of whimps to actually fire someone when they do a good job. Instead, they go on to bigger and better things. Just curious.
  5. 15 years with a decent recruiting class only once every 3 or 4 years? God help us all...
  6. No chance tommie gets drafted this year. however, if we finishes out strong and plays like this next year, he absolutely will in 2008.
  7. I've got a tree out back that needs some hugging. moy can you take care of this for me?
  8. This has gotten a little out of hand. Ace and Rich need to relax a little. In all honesty, a player of Tommie's caliber WOULD get recognized a heck of a lot more at Mizzu then at SLU, that's just a fact. That being said, I could really care less about Mizzu. And I don't want Tommie to leave. He's so damn good. He's a great addition to SLU. But saying he would get more exposure at mizzu is pretty true. like it or not. big 12 vs. a 10. at least tommie has various espn games to show case his talents. oh wait...
  9. Luke Meyer is obviously excluded from this group. And you exageration claims are baseless. Ian is not a good player this year, plain and simple. We all had high, huge, expectations, and he came in so far under you'd think he worked at a DNC convention. He has regressed tremendously.
  10. I think there is one stat that really shows this lack of effort - offensive rebounding (both by SLU and against SLU). Effort isn't really something that shows up in the score book, but if you have watched any of the SLU games, even the losses, most of the time our team just looks lethargic. There is noone boxing out, cleanin glass, and putting a body on one another. This is the lack of effort I'm talking about.
  11. Do you agree with Brad's in game adjustments? His lack of calling time outs when Temple is raining 3's? His rotation? His substitution pattern? His motivation? These are coaching issues we have. I still believe we have the talent THIS YEAR (next year is a whole new disaster I don't even want to think about) to win. And we aren't winning, that's what's so frustrating.
  12. Where have I ever said i want us to be an annual elite 8 team?? Please post that link. That being said, I JUST WANT US TO BE COMPETITIVE! We haven't made the tourny in ages, we've had 6 in the past 50 years, many of those coming in the past 10 years. That's why I'm beginning to understand where you old timers are coming from. You guys are so used to a losing, pathetic excuse for a basketball team, that when you finally have a talented team to cheer about, and they fail, you accept that. I don't. I realize we don't have the money, but as many others have pointed out, the MVC teams have done it, George Mason has done it, etc. The money excuse only goes so far.
  13. Ian sucks!! And for once, this isn't Brad's fault, its own for being lazy. Another bad billiken season to suffer through, thanks for ruining my winter slu.
  14. "I also feel like there is a fan base in place that has never >and maybe will never get loud enough to demand more." I couldn't put it better myself. Just look at this board, a large percentage of people don't expect anything. They think the status quo is good. These kool-aid drinkers are the ones that really hurt the fan base. They insult, they redicule, and they put down anyone who demands a winning program. They drive away fans in droves. If you want examples, I've got a list a city block long. The kool-aid drinkers on this board, with their constant put downs to all those who do not know the inner workings of Brad's mind as much as they do are really, really hurting the fan base and creating a bunch of "yes men." I am really upset today and by no means am I slowing down.
  15. With no recruits and no future for the basketball program, with a horribly overmatched coach, the shiney new stadium really doesn't mean as much as it once did. Until we get someone else in here, it can't be viewed as a positive for the team.
  16. slu72, I was laughing out loud at work. Good work! Expresses my sentiments exactly!
  17. We just aren't a good team. I've had this discussion with many, many students and everyone realizes it. With Brad as our coach, we will NEVER be a Top 75 team, let alone a top 50 team. I mean seriously, as someone else said, nothing against jeff coffey, but he's a walk on at SLU!!! SLU can't get a damn recruit itself so you have got to know the quality that walk on! And he gets what, 11 minutes?! Brad is a great coach. At the high school/D3/D2 level. Its blatently clear to anyone who has seen a basketball in their life that Brad just isn't cut out for D1. But lets all wallow around in mediocrity like 90% of the billiken fans that will actually still go to games. I, for one, had higher expectations. And once again, we missed by a mile.
  18. Skip, I don't know you, but if I did, I would give you a hug first and then tell you to accept the fact that we all cheer for a average (150/330) basketball team, with a terribly overmatched coach, with no recruits, and no real positives for the future. I know this might hurt, but sometimes you just have to accept reality. We just aren't a good team.
  19. Who is the marketing director for SLU basketball. Whoever it is really needs to get their act together. If nothing else, take a page out of the Blues and offer free food, because the basketball team sure isn't bringin' them in.
  20. Durant is great, but he didn't really shoot well. Him and Oden are 1, 2 no doubt, I just wouldn't want another Allen Iverson. I don't think anyone wants allen iverson. If they seriously have the game on a tape delay, this does represent a new low. I've seen more high school games on tv then SLU. This is really sad. I hope the administration gets this cleared up for next year ASAP. How does SLU expect to attract more fans with ZERO tv coverage, ZERO radio talk, ZERO newspaper coverage. How hard would it be to get a SLU show on Fox Sports Midwest? Seems like Mizzu has a show, Mo St has games on 3 and 8 on charter all the time, the Big 12 has a show, I mean come on SLU, get with the program here. The marketing of the team is just down right atrocious
  21. Billikan is the most negative person I have read on the board, bar none. With that behind us, EVERYONE on this board has been incredibly complementry to Luke and everything he has done. He's been the MVP so far of the season in my opinion. Sure, Tommie's #'s are nice, but where would we be without Luke?! He's undersized, and not all that athletic, but he's still a phenomenal hussle player and the type of basketball player anyone coach or team dreams of having.
  22. I see what you are saying now Drew, and I think we share the same sentiment. We can and we should go 8-0, but knowing this team, 5-3 is most likely. I apologize if I offended you.
