Until SLU dominates the A-10 and it becomes an easy means to an end of getting in the NCAA tournament and advancing, the local media will continue to sneer at it. They don't understand the A-10 and they don't "get it" and they probably never will "get it." As long as more than half the conference is in far-flung locations and East Coast based Burwell, Miklasz and others would much rather beat the drums for Chris Lowery, Barry Hinson, et al. The best thing we can do is stop being defensive about it and start winning and winning big. Only that will silence them.

He's a first rate hack. His "water is wet" columns where he does absolutely no interviewing, reporting or fact checking is embarrassment to journalism. He wouldn't last 10 seconds at a decent major daily.

Keep in my the only reason he was on our bandwagon during the Spoon days is because he hated Norm Stewart and used us to jab at him. There's no doubt in my mind he will be a Majerus antagonist unless he wins really, really big.

Stop putting words in my posts. I repeated basically what a Sporting News reporter just said in an interview on KFNS with Frank and Rammer that the guy has had some issues with alumni and media. The guy also said he is NOT an easy employee to deal with and I did not post that. I also said I knew he had some NCAA violations in the past but didn't know the details. I didn't guess at what they were or say I wouldn't hire him because of it I just said he had some. You wanted the details and I posted some. Why attack me? Why put words in my post that aren't there?

I don't know why you are attacking me. He broke rules and they got put on probation. They weren't major or recruiting violations but they were violations. It's the truth. Why run from it? It's certainly not anything that would cause me to shy away from hiring the guy.

I'm surprised that hasn't gotten more press in this love fest. I heard he's a real jerk when it comes to mixing with the alums and fans. Can't stand it. He's also had so NCAA violations which I don't know the details of.

interview on KFNS last was the best. He's a Billiken but he tends to really tell it like it is. I don't know how many heard it but he said that this job is not as atractive as it once was when we were in C-USA and we needed to face up to that and get a coach who fits with our conference, because the A-10, is what it is. I thought that was interesting and I agree. We need a guy that really can maximize us in this conference, because you never want to leave a conference out of weakness (if we do leave it) you want to leave in a strong position. We might need a coach who has some East Coast recruiting connections, etc to get the most out of this situation, who knows but we need one that will embrace the conference not whine about it.

No way it will be RM. We are committed to the A-10. Cheryl has spent a lot of time and energy these last two years defending the choice and acclimating our teams to the Conference. Absolutely no way. It would take at least two years to get out of the conference. How long will Majerus coach?

He wouldn't necessarily be my first choice but I've been impressed enough with him through his ESPN work to give him a chance. If he wanted the job I truly think he would dive into it and give it his all...he's already got a great gig at ESPN that he would be giving up. And he's not a phony Vitale type of "feel good" commentator. I heard him say he had his doubts about Gillespie at succeeding at UK because Gillespie is very thin-skinned when it comes to crticism.
