I was Vice-President of the Residence Hall Association my senior year (2005). The current on campus student population hasn't changed much since I left (despite half of grand forest being demolished for the arena), and is sitting at about 3400. It sounds like the on campus population has at least doubled since you were on campus, Taj. The current housing options on campus are Gries complex (Apx. 900+ students), Marguerite (350), Demattius (300), Notre Dame (150), Reinert Hall (300), Marchetti Towers (700), The Student Village (500), and Grand Forest (? 200?) That doesn't take into consideration some of the close off campus options that have been mentioned recently. The Coronado Apartments and Lindell Towers are all owned by the same management. They try to rent exclusively to SLU students and have been pretty successful in accomplishing that goal. The continental (superman) building also opened in recent years. It has more of a mixed population, but there are some SLU students there. There are also several SLU students living in the Drake and Vandevender apartments. I would estimate that about 2500 students live within walking distance from campus.
