  1. This it the type of post that causes all of the problems recent threads have discussed. What kind of immature idiot would post such a utterly stupid, rude comment.
  2. On Channel 5 News at 6:00, FC interviewed both and Kramer came right out and said he hoped the two of them would play together at SLU. Suggs was polite, but didn't take the bait, stating that his discussions with Kramer were usually about b-ball and not schools.
  3. I'm sorry, but isn't Powell listed in the group for '07 who have been given offers, but not decided yet. Earl Austin stated at the Billiken Club meeting in December that Powell had an offer for some period of time.
  4. I just got in and have been reading the threads. I know you've had a rough day, but from this admitted "not wanting to make a change in the coach yet fan", I appreciate your comments and hope you will continue to provide them. What do you feel is the issue with our lack of signing players? Are we aiming too high, or is Brad and his staff too hard to get to like? I realize they've been recruiting with many obstacles in their way, but these upcoming 2 groups are well aware of the changes in facilities, so it should be reduced as an issue. Particularly, I'm interested in why Powell has not committed. Its been reported he spent all summer at SLU and made it known he wanted attend. SLU has offerred him a scholarship, one of our most successful alums is his HS coach and still no word. Is Anderson that much better of a recruiter than Brad that Powell is willing to wait and see if a scholarship develops. I guess that's the frustation with the Roundtree issue. Heck, we've gone after Powell for months and he has us hanging, while he waits for a better offer and Roundtree indicated he wanted to play at SLU, apparently receives an offer from us, says keep it, because he didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from the staff. Seems liked we're screwed either way we go. Again, I appreciate the input. I know they are 16-18 year old kids, and they frequently don't make sense.
  5. Nate, thanks for the info. Any talk on the street of any commitments for SLU in the upcoming 2 classes? If Roundtree committed to SIU, is there a chance John will commit to SLU soon? I realize that its too early for Suggs and Brandenberg, how about Thompson? Is he close? How about Powell or anyone else for the spring? Why hasn't Kramer committed, is it just assumed? Really appreciate your thoughts!
  6. BS also indicated he wanted a game at home, before the team played 3 games at Texas A&M.
  7. I agree with what you said, but TL needs to get much stronger to deal with pro ball. I bet he spends a bunch of time lifting between seasons. He's a smart kid, with a father wanting to help him make good long-term decisions. I'm sure if Tommy's not ready, he'll be back at SLU.
  8. Can't argue with your statement, but Kevin will do everything he can to play. I'm not sure, short of reopening the wound, it will heal any quicker by not playing. It's been well over a month since the original cut and it reopened. What a freakish thing, it looked like there was very minimal contact with Kevin and the SJU player.
  9. I just received a call from my brother, who travelled with the Boosters to last night's game. He indicated KL had 6 stitches, but is expected to play tomorrow. Kevin is a warrior!! I'd bet money he'll play, if only to defend the GW guards, which are the strength of their team.
  10. If I'm not mistaken, they will be much taller than us, even if we start JJ or AK. Their starters are 6-0, 6-5, 6-8, 6-9, 6-10. And the big guy, Calethes, is an outside player which may pull IV away from the basket. We'll be challenged to rebound, I'm afraid.
  11. Welcome to the group, outstanding post. I couldn't have said it better.
  12. Hope you are right, because it may take something like that to happen in order to improve the Athletic Dept. The school is not going to commit additional funds to the athletic program. My personal opinion is that CL has orders to do the best she can with what money she has, or go find more! Heck, I'm still not sure the university is putting any cash into the new athletic facilities. Wonder if the university will pay rent to the Athletic Dept. when they use the building for graduation or other non-athletic events? They have no problem charging the athletic dept for things.
  13. I have had several discussions with people in the AD and other contributors to the program, and I believe you have very accurately described the current feelings.
  14. Actually Janet at the AD office is working on internships for all SLU athletes. It's a program being developed now and they are actively looking for companies willing to offer internships, full or part-time, to scholarship athletes. What is a large supporter? We don't have any Lauries associated with the program. My company commits tens of thousands to b-ball annually, is that big? The family of a person I know quite well donated $6,000,000 to SLU and $6,000,000 to Washington U. While he played b-ball at Illinois, he has no interest in SLU athletics. I think when it was received about 2 years ago, it was the largest gift to SLU. I was told just a couple of weeks ago, if you consider only the seats within the court on both sides of the lower bowl, the average donation to the Billiken Club is $22 per year per seat. So, for every Tucci or Fusz, there are dozens that give nothing to assist the AD. That's the problem. Sure, it would be great to have a couple of people foot the bill for all of us. But, that's not the case with SLU, or, I suspect, most universities. Wish we had a Hammonds like Missouri State, but we don't. The only way to improve the overall condition of the AD is to dig in our pockets, or write a check.
  15. Pretty sad commentary of your fellow students. Wonder why the University is setting aside seats for the student body in the new building? I guess you should start lobbying Biondi now for cheap beer night.
  16. Actually, I'm not sure JJ played in the second half, and he definitely didn't play in the last 10 minutes when we had so many turnovers. Don't forget KL had no field goals in the second half and TL was 2 for 5 from the line, including misses on two front end of 1 and 1's. As much as we don't like it, they're kids, it happens. The positive is AK played much more than he had been and based on the broadcast, really did well. TL will make those FT's almost everytime and KL will rarely be held without a FG for a half. Unfortunately, it all happened last night. We are kind of snake bit right now, and the kids are going to have to find a way to win on the road.
  17. No offense, but have you been to any games other than men's b-ball? Working in a AD like SLU's is non-stop. Come to a women's game and the AD staff is there. Go to a soccer match, men's or women's, they are there. If I were a betting man, during a school year, the AD's staff works a lot closer to 60 hours than 40. Although on this board the sense it that all of our resources should go to men's b-ball, the real world, or Title IX, doesn't allow for that. They need more people, complain to Biondi to get more resources.
  18. Hang in there, all is not lost. The team, while not living up to most of our expectations, is still 13-7. The kids are great and give us tremendous effort and all are each going to be successful in their chosen fields. Plus, the building is underway. It includes state-of-the art weight-room and training facilities. Our loyal group of fans have stuck with the program, and the 9,000 available seats at the new building should be in demand. Now we need some great recruits to help push the program to the next level. At least now, there's a chance that could happen. I'm not sure that's been the case in the last 40 years! Now Griffster, if you could please help us with that, I'm sure the BILLIKEN, god of all good luck, would shine on you forever!!!!!
  19. I saw that the ladies won their first conference game this afternoon at Rhode Island. Congratulations ladies! Anyone aware of the cause of the absence of Rachel Diener and Teresa Lisch? I noticed where Teresa also missed the game Friday evening.
  20. No offense, but you're totally inaccurate. Xavier and Dayton's local markets already had arrangements with CSTV, so they were the least affected by the new contract. Given the problems between CSTV and Charter, SLU stepped in at the last minute and put the Channel 11 deal for 4 games in place. SLU basically bought the time and is trying to breakeven by selling ad time to sponsors. They HOPE to breakeven on the deal. If you'd like to help, I'm sure Koshay would be happy to sell some commercial time. Cheryl indicated in a meeting I attended a couple of weeks ago, that CSTV promised to the A-10 AD's that it would be better next year. Additonally, she noted that the all the schools in the A-10 were unhappy, even though the agreement with CSTV is very lucrative for the conference schools. SLU has very few, if any, options regarding TV this year or until the A-10/CSTV contract expires. Generally, it sucks, but Cheryl had nothing to do with it.
  21. Actually the athletic department has made it very easy to support teams other than men's b-ball. They offer an all sports package for $125 that provides tickets to all SLU events. Additionally, you received a couple, I don't remember the exact number, of points for the Billiken Club point system. If you haven't attended a v-ball, women's b-ball, or soccer match, you've missed on some good, cheap entertainment.
  22. SLU cannot contact Harrelson, unless he receives a release from WIU. Once he signed a LOI, it becomes binding and no further contact from other schools can occur. I agree with you, there's a lot Brad should learn from Sampson. How not to do things!!! I have no desire to have a program that does it the wrong way. Winnings the wrong way doesn't satisfy me at all. If it does you, you probably are going to be eternally unhappy with SLU. Sampson may be a great coach, but we'll never know because he plays by his own set of rules, as stated so completely in this thread.
  23. A student section which is filled every game by enthusiastic supporters of the program.
  24. I've seen nearly every home game and the loss of King and Komegysz (sp) cannot be underscored. They have lost at least 3 games where a good inside presence would have made the difference in the final outcome. They need a little quickness on the perimeter, especially on the defensive end, but I suspect the Chicago signee deals with that. Shimmy is a show, all by herself.
  25. Quote of Rammer: "So you want to fire a guy who's 12 and 7, that's insane!"
