  2. This is the year for CL. Just like 2010-11 for RM. If there isn't a noticeable improvement in this years team from last years team I think he is clearly on the hot seat. With the addition of Freeman from Iowa and the maturing of his "vaunted" recruiting class to sophomores I hold out some hope that this will happen but it is getting smaller.
  3. True but I think it is little much to have great expectations for a team full of frosh and sophs. When they are sophs and junior they better be good or people will wonder where 4 million dollars went.
  4. I think SLU will be much better. I just think it will be in the 2010-11 season. No judgement can truly be made until then anyways because it will be all RM's players.
  5. We have seen some progress in recruiting but it will take a couple of years to see if there is any progress by the program. Quinn Snyder had some top 15 classes, no one would say that MU progressed under him. Last year, SIU had the worst season in recent memory and that was with the "greatest" recruiting class in history. Basing any judgement off of recruiting is grasping at best, you have to see results. Recruiting definitely makes the cup seem half full but we have still seen two 9th place finishes in the A-10 while BS gave us a 7th and a 3rd. It should get better but remember these are 17 year old kids we are counting on. For every Mitchell and Reed there could very easily be a Cotto, no one knows yet?
  6. seems pretty official http://www.lindenwood.edu/athletics/news/default.asp?id=2166
  7. SIU is desperate to add an inside presence with experience. Lowery supposedly withdrew his offer. I don't know the reason and won't speculate but it leads me to believe he would not be a good fit for SLU or RM. He is freakishly athletic however and seemed like a nice kid the one time that I briefly spoke with him.
  8. Dayton just got even better with the addition of Josh Parker from Drake. I realize he will sit a year but he is a player.
  9. Am I the only one who reads this and wonders of TLIII should really be excited about fetching $70,000 overseas right now. I would think that finishing a SLU education would be worth at least this and would allow him to keep drawing the salary a whole lot longer than playing ball would? There is a poster on Valley talk ACEDAD who's son played at Evansville. He made the comment one time on this topic that many people would not believe the number of 6'5" and taller janitors he has met who were all given bad advice by "friends" and associates and should have finished their degrees. Tommy, if this is true, please finish. If not immediately do it soon or it may never happen.
  10. If he is as good a coach as Chris Lowery, the A-10 is in trouble.
  11. I think everyone active on college basketball message boards should start one of these. Let the NCAA try to shut down ten of thousands of the sites. I already have one ready to go for a Bradley recruit.
  12. Tubby couldn't, of course he had something else going against him in the wonderful land of Kentucky.
  13. OK, I will give you MU over Arkansas but even with this years record and their very good team MU is nowhere near the level of KU, Memphis or Louisville. It is like saying that based on last year the Cardinals now should play second fiddle to the Rays. if MU makes it past the second round of the tournament we can start to entertain this argument but until then MU should always play the undercard vs. these teams.
  14. I think they are pretty open about failed drug tests. Perrilloux from LSU and the player(s) from Bradley who failed theirs during NCAA tournament a couple of years ago pop to my mind immediately. Pretty sure they announce every year who fails the mandatory testing given during the NCAA tourney.
  15. He lasted one week. Failed a drug test and dismissed from the team. http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2009/0...tate/154793.txt look at the bottom.
  16. The chocolate is real good, I don't think it is bad, I just never understood the love of it that people from Cinci spew. I am not a big fan of Ted Drewes either though.
  17. Like I said in the game thread this year. Go to 17th St. Bar and Grill in Murphysboro. Best pulled pork and ribs in the US according to The Travel Channel, The Food Network and several other publications.
  18. I have never understood the Skyline thing. it is not bad but I never got people's fascination with it. Another Cinci thing that always seemed to be raved about and I didn't get was Graeters ice cream. Again not bad but not any better than the Breyers ice cream I can get at any store in America.
  19. Forgive the ###### question I deleted it, not fast enough I guess. It is a combo of bad recruiting the past 3 years as well as the strength of our freshman class, I am in the camp that Lowery hasn't been doing a good enough job but he really appears to be improving. If no one bolts after this season I think CLO has made improvements. If we lose someone else, we may be wishing he had left for a BCS job after the last sweet 16.
  20. No, i think we are building around this years class and waiting for 2010 and 2011 classes in Illinois which are loaded. The 2009 class has role players I believe. We signed a 6'5" sharpshooter from Nashville, a back up point guard and a big man that probably needs a redshirt. We also ahve Tony Freeman coming in next year. He was leading scorer at Iowa last year.
  21. I said nothing with ill intent, I was just pointing out how the 2 programs were really similar this year and how many SIU fans are unhappy with their results as well.
  22. This is my issue with other SLU fans. That seems rather mediocre to me, with a 1 million dollar coach, I expected more. I know that others here hate the Saluki's but check out these stats. 1. We are 9-11 2. We have been outscored 1278 - 1291. 3. Getting outrebounded 634 - 657 4. We have more assists than our opponents 269 - 218 5. No idea where we rank here but we are really young. 6. Freshman have played 45.6% of our minutes YTD. 7. Of the 5 players with the most minutes 2 are freshmen, one is a sophmore. 8. Of the 8 players with the most minutes 5 are freshmen 9. 3 of SIU's are true freshman. This is all done against the 43rd - 49th toughest schedule depanding on what site you look at and many SIU fans are very unhappy with these results. I am not saying the SLU is having a bad season by any stretch but compared to SIU (who is a very similar team to the Bills), we are not doing that great. SIU does not return 2 all MVC players like SLU has in Lidell and Lisch, we only have one in Bryan Mullins. SIU does not have a HOF coach either, in fact many SIU fans believe Lowery needs to improve quite a bit. SLU is going to be much better in 2-3 years but looking through my slightly maroon colored glasses, I think SIU gets the edge. There should be some really good battles between the 2 teams starting next year in STL.
  23. This was always one of SIU's strengths. They always seemed stronger than everyteam they played. I think part of this came from their ability to use a red-shirt season. A lot of it could be contributed to the strength coach. He was excellent but left with the football coach when he was hired at NIU. SIU still has world class weight facilities for their athletes so they are ahead of the game compared to most non-BCS schools but the loss of Coach Klein really shows this year. Especially at the mid-major ranks this is a very overlooked facet of the game. If you aren't going to be more athletic. you have to be stronger and smarter. Getting WR and BT into the weight room the next 2 offseasons will make the difference between NIT's and NCAA's IMHO.
  24. The youth thing is very true but zero road wins at the end of January is pretty unacceptable. The Xavier game and to some extent the SIU game could be expected losses but they should have been able to get one win out of Nebraska, Detroit, or Temple. As highly as this class was rated they should be doing better than this. SIU is just as young as SLU and they have been able to get 3 road wins. Granted they were at WSU, Indiana State and Northern Illinois but they don't have an o'fer for the road.
