  1. Please refrain from refraining. I found it quite offensive.
  2. That would explain the timing, but I have a hard time believing that Brad would do something that stupid.
  3. This can be a tournament team next year. We can not afford any major injuries but this can be a tournamnet team this coming season. This should have been a tournament team last season even with KL's injuries. You lose IV (a huge loss), but KL and TL have a another year under their belts and we have a much better option at the 4. How much you want to bet we run a real offense this year? That will add a couple victories right there and RM will not have his team woefully unprepared to play DU and SBU. They will show up for those games.
  4. The way Jimbo used the word retard has no negative connotation. It is a proper use of the word and is not offensive. His use means slower and nothing more.
  5. The webcam, do. The building is really starting to go up quickly.
  6. I think you forget how Brooks use to be able to control a game. He would carry SIU on his shoulders.
  7. Brandenburg 63 Suggs 72 Thompson 108 SLU on the list for all except Thompson. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/con...=910&CID=671605
  8. That is not fair to put that kind of pressure on a seventeen-year-old kid. I don't think Brad would ever wanted that kind of pressure on Suggs. Knowing how Brad operated he probably told the kid to explore his options. I don't think a Suggs committment would have made a difference one way or the other in saving Brad's job. People decided that they did't want their name and their money connected with Brad's brand of basketball. It is that simple.
  9. You are right about that from what I have been told.
  10. Roy are you trying to say it is Suggs fault that Brad got fired? I know what Hardball's point was, he wrongly thought I was trying to say they shouldn't have fired Brad because it is costing us Suggs. You seem to being saying that Scott was not a good enough friend by not committing to SLU or talking SLU up enough. If that is what you are trying to say that is pretty screwed up. It isn't the responsibility of the 17-year-old friend of the coach's son or his family to save the friend's father's job. He is a seventeen-year-old kid and for anyone to assign him that kind of blame or responsibility is pretty sick.
  11. Just because a player's game doesn't translate to the NBA doesn't make him any less of a college player. I would take Brooks and Melvin Booker both over them. They were better all around college players and I love Travis Diener. Roy just because Christian Latner was nothing special in the NBA does that mean he is not one of the greatest college ball players of all time? It is two different games and you can not use success at the NBA level to bolster what type of college player someone was or vice versa.
  12. Sugg's has to do what is best for Scott Suggs and not the Soderbergs, no matter how good a freind Kramer is. Second off, he and his family always talked highly of Brad and SLU. Third, Nate never assured anyone that Suggs wasn't coming to SLU. Lastly, I never said that Suggs wasn't considering SLU because of Brad getting fired, I just suggested that he might look differently at them at first because his friends father was fired.
  13. He didn't make coaching at IU any tougher. If anything he bought himself time by landing Gordon, because losing kids like Gordon played a big role in Davis losing his job. This whole coaches code thing is BS. Most of these guys would push their mother out of the way if it would mean beating the other guy to a recruit. The NCAA specifically has rules set up for when a kid can make a binding committment. These rules are set-up for the kid's benefit not the coach's. It is one of the few rules in the NCAA rule book that benifits the kid.
  14. After the DU and SBU game we have been in agreement on a lot of stuff. I just thought that Brad was here for one more year at least and was not going to make myself miserable over it so I was hoping for the best. I was in a lot of cases defending him because he was our guy and was going to be our guy for another year. I defended him longer than I probably should have. He was easy to defend because he was always a good guy away from the court.
  15. It is Southwestern Illinois College, the former Beville Area College. It has been a highly successful jocu program. It is where Stremler went.
  16. Seems to have to be crazy on one side of the issue or the other. He was this way before the season about getting rid of Brad. There is no in between with the guy. It makes it hard to take him seriously even when he brings up a good point. Maybe he wants to be the Kevin Slaten of the board. On another issue the overall number of people expecting us to become Duke overnight is starting to grow at a alarming rate.
  17. I just said that when a friend's dad gets fired from a school, kids might tend to look at that school differently. Second, It isn't as easy as RM saying I want you and Scott Suggs is going to come running. My point about it taking a lot of work is he is being wooed by some big time programs and the list continues to grow. This isn't the same as Ahearn dying to play here and Brad not offering. Scott has other options including the two time defending national champions. By the way Brad deserved to lose his job for his performance over the last 12 months. Not only recruiting, but also the poor job he did in coaching and preparing his team. This past season was the worst coaching job of Brad's tenure. Even with 20 wins, the team was just hard to watch way too many times.
  18. It is worthless and the height of hypocrisy. It is not some Jedi code. It is all about making their job easier. Well the people who pay them don't give a rat's a$$ about that. IU is paying Sampson to get Eric Gordon, not to make his and Bruce Weber's job easier. None of that honor ##### matters to them when it comes to going to another job. It will never come back to bite Sampson, because he has been successful everywhere he has been and the whole code is BS anyway. People want to work with successful people. Sampson has overcame more in his life and knows more about honor than any of those idiots preaching about the great sin he committed getting Eric Gordon. This whole thing with Sampson is the worst kind of BS. It is the kind when people get on their high horse and preach about what someone else did to make an issue out of a non-issue because it makes them feel superior.
  19. He didn't break one rule when it came to Gordon. Give him a hard time for the phone call violations, but with Gordon he did not break one rule and did what IU hired him to do. He got the top player in the state to go to IU.
  20. I would have took Brooks in a heart beat over those guys. Hey they all were good college players, Brooks put a program on the map.
  21. Well according to Griffster, Tyler didn't know who he was off the top of his head. These kids are playing games, praticing and doing homework when he was on TV. He will have to rely alot on his connections at first to reestablish himself. Roy just don't make the same mistake Romar and Brad did, thinking kids from outside of the area are better than the kids in town just because they are from outside the area.
