Unfortunately, ISU doesn't have a permanent AD or University President right now. They probably don't want my advice, but they should hire Jim Crutchfield or Ben Howlett. Build upon the high octane offensive style that Schertz brought. Don't under any circumstances hire a retread.

I don't know if Proctor was a money thing so much as wanting to get back with his friends at Alabama. He made the announcement right after returning from a spring break trip he took with some of his former Alabama teammates.

Kind if strange that an AD of the year can spend 16 years at a program like SLU and have escaped the eye of high major programs that whole time. You think one of them would have spotted such greatness. Can't figure that one out. It doesn't seem fair.

ISU is in a much better spot than before they hired Schertz. Schertz made the job more attractive to other coaches, increased the financial commitment the school was willing to make to the program, increased their fundraising levels and increased awareness of the program across the country. It is now a program that is more attractive to coaches and players. Now they just need to hire the right guy to build on that.

It is a good day to be a Billiken.

I do feel for them. They probably don’t want to hear that from us, it is rough.

I noticed a poster from this board is also a poster on that board.

Trilly is reporting on his discord that the deal is done with Schertz.
-
They will probably discuss it here.

Schertz is the new Pope of the Church of the Billiken?

Why would the ESPN want to give $25 million per year rights increase to Clemson and FSU. They got them locked in cheap for another 12 years, plus they get UNC, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Miami. They blow the ACC up they lose really valuable properties in UNC and Virginia who will run to the Big 10 most likely. What ESPN might do is let go of the grant of right if UNC and Virginia agree to join the SEC. They aren't going to let those two schools walk to Fox. They are more valuable to ESPN as SEC teams than FSU and Clemson.

Parker had issues, probably best to just leave it at that.

This seems newsworthy

SLU Men's Basketball Head Coaching Candidates
brianstl replied to Pistol's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
I've been of that opinion for some time myself, but I don't think that is the case for important people at and around SLU. I don't think they believe they are on the doorstep of an invite, but they think they can make it happen and maybe more importantly they think they have to make it happen. -
SLU Men's Basketball Head Coaching Candidates

With the way this all went down, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting close to what Travis was making. The fact that SLU reached terms as quickly as it appears they have with Schertz makes me think some people are throwing around big time dollars not just for the the coach, but NIL and everything else. It feels like it is full court press mode to get into the Big East as quickly as possible. SLU is going to spend on everything like a Big East basketball program to show it belongs as a Big East program. It feels like at least some people realize the clock is ticking down and SLU has ground to make up. -
Nobody is going to be able to recruit Punjab like the Billikens.
-
We picked Ford over Otzelberger.
-
My guess is the hold up with getting it done right now is that SLU can't actually buyout Schertz until their season is over. To buy him out before that would require ISU to agree to it and that is probably going to cost SLU more than his $250,000 buyout.

If Schertz is coming here, you can be damn sure there is the commitment to spend what is needed NIL wise. The fact that he is already willing to commit this early in the cycle should tell us all that at a couple boosters are willing to spend like a P5 program not only for the coach but for NIL.
