  1. Jimerson has only played 10 more career games than Clagget.
  2. It is the standard among private universities, but it probably isn't the best way to operate. Huge boards tend to dilute accountability, make needed changes harder and give oversized roles to a limited number of members that decide to be more engaged. I understand why it is the standard. You are trying to keep so many different groups and donors both happy and involved, but it is damn near impossible to have board that offers true and effective oversight and leadership when it is that big.
  3. May, as a member of the Predent's cabinet (what SLU actually calls it), is responsible for supplying that information to the trustees for the athletic department. It his his responsibility to not only have the materials concerning his department ready for them before meetings, but to make sure that information concerning important university matters inside his department can be communicated to trustees between meetings.
  4. St. John's is 2-0 since, including a 14 point win over Creighton.
  5. I just hope we hire that f’er from Maryville or that f’er from Terre Haute.
  6. It is amazing that just because he isn’t the top choice at SLU or MO St. right now that someone is going to act like Ahearn isn’t interested in either job right now. He wants both jobs. He wouldn’t be a bad hire at either program. Hell, some were so convinced Blake was so close to having the SLU job last spring they convinced Blake he actually had it. If you believe the stories.
  7. No credible agent is going to advise his client to turn a job that would pay at least three times as much (MO St.) or at least five times as much (SLU) as he is currently making.
  8. I think he was probably a lot closer to being the coach last spring than most people realize and he has people still pumping up his name. It isn’t just the right people.
  9. Crean was started by the national media. Weber was started by Weber himself. Ahearn was probably the option if the move was made last spring and that is probably why it ultimately didn’t happen. I don’t think he is in the top options group of anyone who is actually going to have a say this time around. That said, I’m probably higher on Ahearn than most and he isn’t even close to the top of my list. He is a guy you talk to and keep in my mind if you are told no thanks one too many times. He has a lot going for him, but would be too much of a risk given our current situation with no college head coaching experience.
  10. Palm has Richmond in his bracket as conference champion, not as an at large.
  11. Interesting you have Richmond ahead of Drake. I think Drake is a legit bubble team and I don’t see Richmond as that right now. What am I missing?
  12. You operate things correctly and have success on the court you can use tournament credits to cover the wage increases for the coach.
  13. I know this is for the football program, but this is like UMass joining the OVC for every sport outside football. The MAC is a bad conference and makes no sense geographically. It would be like SLU deciding to join the American East conference. At least the A10 made sense for us on a competitive level when we joined it.
  14. For every Kim Anderson you have a Bob Huggins, Bo Ryan, Bruce Pearl, Steve Alford, Kelvin Sampson, John Chaney or John Beilein.
  15. Is there a reason Bryce Drew's name is not coming up more? Wouldn't be my top 2 or 3, but I think he is better option than some of the names on the different lists.
  16. Curcic finished a team high plus 19.
  17. 9 point,5 assists,15 minutes in the first half for Curcic. Would have been nice if he would have got this kind of court time before game 27.
  18. I like Lutz. I don’t know if he will be looking to make another move so quick and if he is looking for a top tier job WKU has proven to be a program you can do that from.
  19. Part of Chris May’s job is to be the adult in the room and to be emotionally detached enough to say no. He is supposed to be the check against boosters who serve on the BoT from acting like idiots and handing out contracts to the coach that make no sense. The last thing he is supposed to be is the guy leading the charge on that kind of contract. You don’t want to your program operating like Auburn’s football program.
  20. I love Schertz, but I think this fact is going to make him even harder for SLU to hire. I really fear there are going to be smart AD’s at Big 10 schools that will make him their top target. I’m not high as DeVries as some others, but he would probably work out. Really like McCollum, but as @Slu let the dogs out? said a D2 coach is probably viewed as too big of a risk by the people making the decision. The X job has to be pretty attractive to Chris Mack right now. Holtman would be okay. I’m more open than most to taking a chance on someone without or with really little college head coaching experience. I think it is time to think about running a college basketball program completely different than it has been. With head coaches and assistants being much more skill development and game planning guys than the recruiting first people seem to be much more of today. Then you have a separate personal department that handles nil budgets, player evaluations at both the high school and college level, etc. I think younger guys without a long track record would be more open to that. That is probably considered way too risky by everyone involved in the decision process.
