  1. 1. SLU needs help for next year and Berry cannot help SLU next year except as a practice body. 2. Berry plays the C/PF position and we are well stocked at that position. 3. SLU does not have a SF/slasher type on the squad. Sure, maybe one of our tall guards could fill that need. 4. Still would like to find a SF/slasher type from immediately eligible transfers or the JC ranks, but that does not look likely. 5. Given this, Yarbrough or a similar HS or Prep player possible looks like our best option (but boy, don't like six in one class).
  2. Welmer is already a 2015 commit. So, if this commit holds, SLU only has one scholarship available. Assuming Welmer becomes a Billiken, I'd prefer Nixon.
  3. So, will SLU sign anyone the next week?
  4. Well, not until he gets I campus.....................probably.
  5. Spring signing period starts in less than two weeks. Things have been quiet. Any guesses on who SLU may sign??????????
  6. Wow, looks like he has quite a few BCS offers.
  7. I am happy to see Glaze on the team next year. He appears to be well liked, a team player, and good for team morale and cohesiveness.
  8. I said in an earlier post offer Berry a 2015-16 scholarship. He would have to be a preferred walk-on in 2014-15. We need to use the last scholarship for this year for a ready to start player. If Berry isn't interested in this, then let him go elsewhere.
  9. If we sign Berry and Welmer, two forards, for 2015 we definitely could use another guard this year.
  10. Sign a JC point guard wtih our final scholarship or an immediately eligible player. Offer a 2015-2016 scholarship to Berry and preferred walk-on for 2014-2015. Recruiting then done for next year.
  11. Simple. TL took his spot in the rotation. TL is bigger, just as good of a shooter, handles the ball well, and played better D.
  12. Our chances are better to get a stud recruit than in the past. Three straight NCAA appearances, great facility, a name coach with a solid coaching staff including Indiana legend, CC.
  13. Still have one scholarship to fill. If SLU can get a stud JC or prep school kid, I like our chances to be pretty good. I really think we need a ready to start player to come in with that last scholarship. Come on coaching staff, do it! - Manning has been coming on strong. I think he suprises a lot of folks next year. Glaze has got to have a Conklin summer. - AY and AM will be a solid, experienced back-court duo. - TL, MC and RA look promising. I know none of them played very much this year, but with a year in the system, they could make major strides. All three have the incentive of very substantial playing time. - Our five frosh probably is the highest rated group coming since the Hughes class. One of the bigs and at least one of the guards need to be ready to play a lot.
  14. It sure pays to play in the Big Dance. Based on this link from USA today, one appearance in the NCAA Tournament is worth $1.5 million over six years. http://q.usatoday.com/2014/03/20/ncaa-tournament-game-value-millions-per-game/ That means the six appearance (more if SLU makes the Sweet 16) over the past three years are worth $9.0 million. I think SLU gets 75% of the payouts with the A10 getting the rest to split among league members. Anybody know if that is the way the A10 splits the money?
  15. You who do not believe!
  16. Let's beat an ACC team. Shove it Coach K.
  17. Very interesting. If you fill out the 2014 brackets with the higher BPI team winning each game you come up with a sweet 16 in which each bracket ends up with the 1 through 4 seeds as the regional finalist. Take that to the Elite 8 and you end up with the 1 and 2 seeds in every region except the midwest region which ends up with the 1 and 3 seed (#3 seed Duke is one place higher in the BPI randings than #2 Michigan) in the Elite 8. Take that to the final four and all #1 seeds get to the semi-finals. The final of course is Florida versus Arizona with Florida becoming the national champ. Have not done this exercise with the RPI rankings but doubt they would be as accurate an indicator of the Committee's seeding.
  18. SLU is in. Positive, we play a team on Friday who has to travel to Dayton, then to Orlando. SLU should have the game plan advantage.
  19. Same here, hoping for a 6 but expecting a 7. Hope the Committee looks at the whole body of work. - Outright A10 championship. - Only 1 road loss with several good road wins such as UMass, St. Joe's, Dayton, Indiana State. - 19 game win streak
  20. Hope you are all right, we sure need him and the other frosh to make big strides for next year.
  21. Agree to disagree. Sounds like MC is no more than 6'4". Just don't see how he is more athletic than JB. Hope MC can jump like claims I have heard. He just has not shown it on the court. And I have seen at least 20 games on TV and another 5 in person. MC PLEASE prove me wrong!!!
  22. Hoping for a 6, at worst SLU will be a 7. SLU did win conference title in a tough A10. Committee should look at the whole season, not just the past 2 weeks.
