  1. You're painting with an awfully large brush. I'm not sure that IO and HD are representative of all spring recruits. In any case, do you advocate chucking spring recruiting?
  2. >The fault with Brad is that he couldn't get better players >than OI and HD; therefore, Brad had to settle for these >guys. These were high risk/medium-to-high reward players. >The fault lies in the fact that we didn't get any >commitments from low-to-medium risk/medium-to-high reward >players. That was then. This is now. You need a new tune.
  3. For the record, you gleefully anticipated the Billikens losing to UNC. What a genius. You have zero credibility in my book. The rest of your posts are so much braying.
  4. I agree, Roy. It is sad that these young men wasted an opportunity. I disagree with the posters that would somehow find fault with Brad over this matter. It's simply a matter of basketball Darwinism. It's to be expected that kids will leave a program for a variety of reasons. A program that tries to compete while maintaing some degree of academic integrity can reasonably anticipate that some kids will be winnowed out. This is not to say that SLU is the only institution that has academic standards or maintains high expectations of student atheletes. While I agree that it puts us in a recruiting hole, all is not lost. Calm down, folks. These guys weren't contributing to this team and our on court success this year, or lack thereof, will say far more about the programs health and Brad's ability to fill those holes than these two kids flunking out.
  5. Hooo doggies, Jethro! You sure got yourself some sharp wit there.
  6. > >"Phan, I don't know who you are, buddy, so I'm not sure if >we're "tight" as you say. Maybe loosely because we are SLU >fans. " I would disavow that association as well.
  7. All things considered, I'd rather have the win, thank you. Back in your den, please.
  8. Actually, they ran that little half court trap about three times against Western Illinois on Sat. The guard off the ball switches assignments when the guarding player gets the ballhandler to pick up his dribble beyond the arc. The times I notice occurred in the first half right in front of the Billiken bench.
  9. What does Timmerman cover besides the Bills? If he is the "beat" writer and he's not covering their games, I assume he has other responsibilities. What the hell does a writer do if he's not writing in order to justify a paycheck? I'm not trying to be a smartass. I would sincerely like to know. From this angle, it looks like law school over journalism school was a huge mistake.
  10. " Have any of you ever played the >game? Even in high school and grade school players are sat >who are seen as not giving it their all. What would stting >Ian hurt? " A better question would be, what would sitting him solve? Why would we weaken the team on the floor to prove a point and what point would you be making anyway? That he needs to play better? That much obvious. Based on his preseason comments, Ian is fully aware of the stakes both to the team and to his future in basketball. Lastly, these are not high school and grade school players. Ian's a man. How about assuming as much? You seem to suggest that Ian's struggles are due to a lack of effort or motivation. I've been to all the home games and frankly, I don't see any evidence that these things are problems. In many cases, the shots he's taken have been good looks that just didn't fall. I'm not convinced that his earlier finger problems haven't affected his shot. In the end the question remains: Would sitting him help in any way? I don't see how.
  11. In addition, can anyone in that place operate the freaking scoreboard properly?
  12. You've subjectively assigned numbers to categories to fulfill your own agenda. How terribly meaningful! It's apparent you don't like UB. Making it appear as though there is some analytical process going on is disingenuious. Frankly, I could care less what you think.
  13. Shhhh! Leave him alone. He's sleeping.
  14. " I am not sure right now if I >would bet any jack on beating UNC, winning the end of the >year tourney or placing in the top two in the league." Good thing you don't have to then, isn't it? Don't let the sky hit on the head on your way to RealisticBilliken's bookie to bet against the Bills.
  15. I agree with Roy that SIU was winnable until the last minutes. I also believe that a 9 point loss on the road to SIU will hurt the RPI or the teams profile too badly, particularly if the Salukis are strong here on out. BTW, I find it ironic that "Mr. True Fan" just offered to book bets against the team's success. Way to go, guy.
  16. Gee, I don't know. It's difficult to imagine anyone having a grudge againat you. What are you implying? All sorts of suppositions could be made about you based on the neighborhood in which you live. But then, that would be an example of unfair and irrational stereotyping. How does it feel?
  17. >"I've tried to see eye-to-eye with you guys (Brad-backers) >but the facts remain - he hasn't recruited a big-time player >to our program who has made an immediate impact." Lisch and Liddell started as freshmen. Make sense, please.
  18. Somehow you turned a thread about TV deals into an imperative for Brad. Excellent work! BTW, I believe it is players that have to deliver.
