  1. i am glad the tix are in hand earlier than past yrs so i have time to get them to all in my group
  2. -thanks for the updates, wish i could have been there
  3. just keep a watchful eye about what you tell people they "need" to do, some will always have a differing opinion and other obligations
  4. -i will say again that i will have a hard time seeing games in stl not played at Chaifetz as it would seem to me that you don't spend $80mil or whatever and then go back to scottrade or go to the dome -i think duke has been playing a game in the meadowlands every year for the past several as they have a large alumni base and to follow on your previous post, is a good way for them to raise $$$$ -cbs makes it happen and voila, it is done
  5. -this is great stuff -are there more people attending matches this year? -how is the "pavillion" as a venue?
  6. -David, at the risk of debating with a moderator....and in no particluar order....and i maybe missing your entire point... -would we all like more and/or better coverage of slu sports, mbball in particular?? God yes -how many people bought a post today to read Rams coverage? -how many people last year bought a Post to read SLU coverage? -that contention that long suffering slu fans deserve more coverage is great, except i have to think somewhere at Lee Enterprises there is someone that knows a bit about what sells papers (i don't know this answer, but has the circulation of the Post dropped more than the average American daily newspaper? if so, is this drop due to less slu coverage?) -it comes down to dollars and sense, look at our radio deal, oh wait, you can't, is the lack of a radio deal due to Ramsay not having a passion about slu? -Tom T could write about SLU until the cows come home, but does that mean the paper will give him the space to publish the articles? if it sells papers or advertising, yeah it would get published -has slu encumbered some of this on itself? sure, no natural rivalries due at least in part with conference switching, maybe the secrecy or lack of access has an impact, but not winning consistenly has an awful lot to do with it also, imo -i think Tom T has done a fine job on slu mbball -perhaps i am the only one that thinks this way, but i am fine with that if that is the case, but there is a pecking order to coverage/space alloted/time alloted and it is determined a great deal on what sells, slu at this point does not sell -i have agreed that slu should spend some of its money to promote/advertise/cover itself until the point arrives where the clamoring for coverage would not necessitate that -but until we raise our position in the pecking order or spend our own funds, i think we are where we are -btw, comparing the nfl to anything else sports wise is probably a losing proposition for whatever is being compared to the nfl -how do you make someone a passionate fan? is this slu's job? the post's job?
  7. WH- I don't who you are, but your contributions and analysis are great stuff, imo THANKS
  8. i guess none of us know, but maybe he is courting the high roller boosters, and if so, good for him maybe he is trying to bring the hot ex vball asst coach back, and if so, good for him
  9. i guess none of us know, but maybe he is courting the high roller boosters, and if so, good for him maybe he is trying to bring the hot ex vball asst coach back, and if so, good for him
  10. -if that is true, i second willie's grading -i guess they are talking season tix? -so does 5500 become 6600? -great stuff
  11. -i wondered how they got to have that practice as friday is supposed to be the first day of practice -i think the ncaa messed up big time by allowing these schools to do this -there should either be an establised first day of practice for everyone or there should not be -i am not saying 1 extra practice will give a benefit to these schools, but once the ncaa starts giving exemptions to certain schools for certain things i can see a problem with where does this stop -and another benefit to football schools, it appears -i would guss every school that asked got to have this kind of event - and bruce, don't try to tell us you did not think of recruiting when you asked for this.......According to Weber, the event never was meant to give Illinois a recruiting advantage, though he acknowledged more recruits were in attendance than there would have been at a traditional Midnight Madness event. -and for our internet hounds, how did harrelson look at ky????
  12. -slu72 i agree that offseason we do not get much hoops discussion here, but there needs to be something to talk about and there is not much right now -we all wish we had some more verbals to discuss, hopefully on nov 12 or whatever date we are talking about signings and who we beat out for players -i wonder if there are any students that are reading and not posting, or if they have a different place to talk hoops when there is hoops to discuss? -perhaps i am wrongly thinking there are some students that want talk hoops with us -even if they could say i talked to tommie and his individual workouts are going great or barry is in my chemistry lab and he said he lost 25 pounds -ot-i wonder how the prez is doing? i still think the U messed up by not hiring her -next week after the bclub meeting there should be a pickup in posts, i would guess, at least program related
  13. i agree with this statement however Apr through Sep and maybe Oct is not when the opportunity is there
  14. jimbo - you have my condolences - but as was once said - it ain't over 'til its over - so she still has time to come to her senses
  15. Magic, Skip, Ace and others - Roy told us so it must be so.
  16. i did not know that, thanks for enlightening me i will say it is better than it being all about brad
  17. if someone has explained this i have forgotten - how does it make sense for illinois to play 2 games in stl every other year?
  18. there is some good news!!! thanks nate!!
  19. -i am not disappointed in the schedule as we have sooo many frosh that are going to get pt -so i think rick's plan is to try to win some games to build some confidence in everyone -i think rick said he would not do 2 for 1's, but not sure on that -if we were to do 2 for 1's, and i don't think we need to, my opinion is UK and UF are the only 2 on your list worth considering
  20. i heard the reason both fontbonne and maryville do not want to play us is they do not want the espn exposure.
  21. -tv simulcast on ch's 2,4,5,9,11,24,30 and 48 locally along with Directv ch 789 and Dish ch 345 for the out of towners- these 2 will rebroadcast the entire press conference on a continuous loop for 48 hours, unless there is another game in that time period and then it will be 72 hours -for those in their cars on the way home kfns, kmox, ktrs, kmjm, and kshe and sirrius station 654 -i suggest watching the tv feed as the U has hired Erin Andrews to moderate and is encouraging a roxy's style outfit for her clothing -tickets to the press conf will be sold for $25 a piece and it is all you can drink and eat and that price includes cab fare home and a metrolink pass for the next day to retrieve your pillaged vehicle
  22. Cowboy. What do you mean by RM having "more cards to play?" Do you mean scholarships? i mean rick's recruiting should be better than most of his predecessors because of the facilities the U now has, ie Chaifetz Arena and the entire complex under that roof. Are you suggesting that RM is providing the kids with an extra minutes of coaching not performed by prior coaches due to his choice not to do many of the 5 minute post-game intereviews? Why not do both like most other coaches do? Why is it an all or none? i have no idea why he does not do a post game interview on radio. my hope is he is coaching the kids in the immediate after math of the competition. i hope with the new arena we can have the postgame press conference videotaped and available to watch on line by the time i get home. personally, i think i would get more out of that if for no other reason than there should be 3 or 4 (at minimum) people asking questions, nate as one of them, instead of an employee of the U.
  23. -you have views different than rick on how to get us to the level we all want -we know that -you believe your view is correct -rick believes his view is correct -as i said, i am siding with rick -do you know rick did not approach espn? -there have been several posts on this board defending the schedule and giving the reasons why the schedule is as it is, but you don't want to see those reasons, just complain -i do not believe each of the past 4 coaches had a scheduled time with frank -it is perhaps misleading to compare eras as rick has more cards to play with than any previous coach, but i expect he will have better teams consistently than any of the 4 previous coaches (but there are also some counters to this) -you keep bringing up the media, in mine and others opinions, slu is not going to get press after their season ends at this point, but you continue to foster this notion that it is owed to us, it simply is not -i don't mind not havin midnight madness, i hope he is coaching the kids after the game since he is not on radio and i would like to ask the seniors what he or the program did for them before saying no banquet is a bad thing - maybe he got them all jobs who knows???? -the heavy lifting is winning and i expect that will come
