  1. -sorry if this is addressed somewhere else, but notice the mizzou game day article in the paper
  2. -i have not seen an anouncement as to when rick's show will start, but i think he started last year after new year's, so look for it then -i think last yr's show was on monday nights -if there will be a show it will be on 101.1 -it seems our wonderful conference makes on line listening/watching to games very difficult
  3. -my best memory of a slu game in carbondale was in larry's year i think he scored 41 or something like that and basically took over the game in the 2nd half for a slu win -wish i could be there tomorrow -go get a win guys!!!! -i am not familiar with siu's team at this point, if there is a mismatch in our favor what would that be? (not that we take advantage of these)
  4. your 3 posts on the subject of the meet and greet don't jive with that --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oct 31 2008, 09:38 AM Post #6 I have reached billiken_roy levels of posting Group: Members Posts: 16,201 Joined: 30-November 99 From: Belleville, IL Member No.: 100,002 QUOTE (kshoe @ Oct 31 2008, 09:04 AM) Because it really matters one way or the other? because the fans want a chance for a preview. the way it was publicized, i bet plenty of fans seeing the overlapping times thought, "maybe we will get to see a little bit of the end of practice. let's go down there." i figured that wasnt the case and thus stayed home to watch "my name is earl" instead. -------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Oct 31 2008, 07:13 PM Post #30 I have reached billiken_roy levels of posting Group: Members Posts: 16,201 Joined: 30-November 99 From: Belleville, IL Member No.: 100,002 QUOTE (kshoe @ Oct 31 2008, 11:51 AM) Still haven't bought into the whole VCR/TIVO/DVR fad yet huh? actually i just weighed the options and thursday night nbc seemed like better entertainment than watching the players sign autographs and rickma rambling. now if they actually would have been bouncing some balls and running the court, i would have come to see that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nov 1 2008, 05:29 AM Post #32 I have reached billiken_roy levels of posting Group: Members Posts: 16,201 Joined: 30-November 99 From: Belleville, IL Member No.: 100,002 QUOTE (davidnark @ Oct 31 2008, 09:37 PM) It is too bad that a great basketball fan like you is unable to appreciate Rick Majerus talking about basketball and life. Unfortunately, I was unable to make last night's events due to commitments with my wife and kids. However, my folks went to last night's event. My 60-something mother who had never heard Majerus speak before (and doesn't really follow sports) came away raving about him. She told me that he was one of the most interesting and engaging speakers she had ever heard, and she was particularly impressed by the respect both he and his players showed for each other. once you've seen the lounge act a couple of times you start wishing for new material. -------------------- "It's kind of
  5. -chris may addressed this with a few of us at the meet and greet where the decision has already been made to keep the arena open for vball next year for this round, it would have been possible for you to hear that from him that night but instead of attending the lounge act you decided to stay home and watch tv
  6. -Billikan or anyone, do you have a way to confirm the following or tell us what the practice rules according to the ncaa are??? -if school is out of session during the season i don't believe there is practice rule, so they could in theory go 12 hours per day for 14 days over christmas break -if school is in session during the season the team can have 22 hours of practice per week which includes lifting, film and court time and one day of nothing, so the 22 hours is spread between 6 possible days -this is what i believe they are, but am not certain
  7. -to me it is a ridiculous discussion -you do not agree that signing 11 players in 2 years is a miracle considering what our past holds??? -cheryl left b/c she supported brad and thought he should be given another year, Fr Biondi held a different view, disagreements with bosses happen every day in this world, she decided to leave because of it, but i still very much appreciate what cheryl did for slu -hiring a hof coach is out of left field??? -maybe against the grain of what slu has done in the past, but out of left field i don't think so -who is saying rick is leaving?? -when we signed the players in the fall period he told the redshirt his idea was to coach him, that is 5 more years
  8. -this has to be the hardest thread to believe of all time, in my opinion -i cannot believe we are having to go over our history yet again, but this is the time in the world for instant gratification so a lack of patience should not surprise me as much as this does -we lost a game on the road where the team did not play well and we come to this??? -April 27, 2007 is the day he took over as head coach, 583 days ago, 19.5 months ago -did you expect some sort of miracle? -actually, i think a miracle has happened -we signed 7 players last year and 4 in the early period this year and we are recruiting high school sophs and jrs, we do not have to wait until the spring to find players to fill our roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -the program has changed -so back to this year........just so you remember, the 6 playing frosh are just that, frosh ......and 1 redshirt -next year we will be playing 6 sophs and will have 4 new players next yr (femi + the 3 not to redshirt) -and i have confidence those to come in future classes will be as good or better than what we have, and i like what we have -there will be growing pains, none of us want to go through it, but i still firmly believe the future to be bright, much brighter than if we did not have rick majerus as our head coach -if you want to go back to the brad days, go ahead, but i will take the current plan with rick at the helm at this point
  9. first thoughts...... the good -final game on cbs and certainly no billy packer -conf should have more people at the first round games as they are on campus (is this guaranteed?) -conf is trying something, there have been so many complaints about the prior regime -perhaps tourney moves closer to stl so driveable (it could go to cincy) -maybe the big east blows up and we won't have to deal with this conf for long -our program is on the rise, i predict we will have 1 first round home game and then we are a perennial top 4 seed (for a while...) -final game time is noon ct and so committee should have at least 60 minutes to deal with the outcome prior to 4pm bracket release (cbs gets them early, how early i don't know) the bad -seems a bit bush league as i don't think any of the bcs conferences have on campus first round games - goes to league perception -how much coverage will a10 get vs acc, big east, pac 10, big 12, big 10, sec as their tourney's are going the same time? the neutral -how much does 3 versus 4 days increase airline tix cost if you qualify on the last day of the season? my test just now on southwest showed no change -if you are top 4 seed only the days you will play change (i realize this is a BIG change) -hotels would still have to blocked by the conf -how many fans buy a10 tourney tix without their team qualifying now? -this could work, this could be a disaster, this could be in between
  10. i guess we better figure out our defense as they shot an incredible %
  11. -i love the NE guy with about 90 seconds left driving from the right wing and he uses his arm to get space from tommie all the way to the goal -one of these refs is ted hillary who is reputed to be good

  16. -i hope TT is in Lincoln, although when the Blues went west last time the game articles were not written by their beat writer, not sure what exactly that means -since school is out did the team charter to Lincoln?
  17. Bonwich explained the Saint vs St thing some time ago and as I recall it made sense
  18. i heard a very similar account as House - slu was not in the account and i wish a speedy recovery
  19. -dribbles do not negate the potential of an assist being awarded
  20. -and cookie belcher from mexico mo played for nebraska in the 90's -give your kid the nickname cookie and they are destined for lincoln....poor kids
  21. -i will say it again, someone has a different opinion than you and you cannot handle that, the other person is wrong, or in my case, so wrong
