  1. His parents are both Olympian throwers, Christian Cantwell and Terri Steer-Cantwell so the genetics and training are VERY strong with him. He’ll pick a school where he can play football and do track. His mom grew up in a small town outside Lincoln, NE. But there are a lot of schools in the mix for him.
  2. Regardless of Slaten’s reason for asking the question, Schertz stated that there are plenty of players from D2 that can play D1. He should know after coaching there for 12 years. And I agree that there are bigs that can do it, too.
  3. Schertz was in agreement with Slaten in his interview that the big difference in D1 vs D2 are the bigs. He said the guard play is very similar. I can see him identifying a player that is a wing in D2 and bringing him in. He’s done it before, and it would be cheap (NIL wise).
  4. It will be fun to see him get some criticism. He was always quick to tell everyone what he thinks coaches are doing wrong.
  5. A high school basketball player from Loyola Academy in Chicago?
  6. You get a 0.75/10 from the East German judge on your troll attempt.
  7. It’s unfortunate for Schertz, and it’s not happening in every campus across the country. That’s an exaggeration.
  8. He would’ve made a ton of money in the NIL era.
  9. The window closes for players to enter. Anyone in the portal is free to sign with teams with no deadline.
  10. I’d recommend Intro to Earthquakes and Intro to Poetry to GJ. They were staples of the general electives back in the 90s.
  11. It’s almost as if he has a plan. And will have the majority of team assembled by May.
  12. No, they graduated high school together and are getting married this summer. So, she will be moving to St. Louis with Josiah.
  13. And he’s 6’8” 220 lbs, and athletic

  15. I guess it’s been too long for most to remember how Majerus built his rosters. Everyone is enamored with what a kid is ranked at 17 and not what he projects to do in a system.
  16. No we don’t. Mitchell, McCall, and Jett were all combo guards and we were just fine back then. We will be fine now running the 5 out system.
  17. Exactly. He knows his system and what is needed. Very similar to Majerus in constructing a roster to make the sum of the parts work together.
  18. People thought that 3 were likely. Kent visited Texas and went there. It’s free agency, that’s how things work. We got the prize of the 5, and a very solid guard. Time to move on and see who else comes.
  19. FIFY.
  20. It looks like Robbie got a ride in a SLU golf cart. I wonder if it was from the old Biondi fleet. Talk about a clinching move to get him here.
  21. Avila and Swope are visiting until Saturday. Commitment announcements are usually released after the visit is done. Enjoy your Friday night and Saturday, it’s likely a matter of waiting like with the Schertz hire.
  22. I always thought Conwell would end up at a P5 school and Larry would go elsewhere. Avila, Swope, and Kent were the ones I figured were in play for SLU. Once Kent visited Austin with Larry it was apparent we’d likely get 2 from ISU. That’s fine, Avila is the prize and having Swope will help implement the system. Schertz will find plenty of suitable replacements for the other 3, with Gibby being a huge piece.
  23. He’s eating well.
  24. It definitely will be challenged. That’s why I say just give them 5 years and no exceptions. The NCAA can say they are expanding it from 4 to 5 years to account for all redshirts and hardship situations. After the 5 year clock is over you are done. They can make a caveat for people that do missions and other similar breaks in school attendance. But, they need to be stringent on allowing no exceptions, it’s becoming a joke.
