  1. "The fans, I know they support Saint Louis, but the majority came to see us play," Morrison said. "I don't want to knock on their program or anything but we know every place we go people are going to be excited to play us." What a jackass, even if it is partly true. I really used to like this guy until he said this and other things this year. Seems as if a little of the success has gone to his head...and his 'stache.
  2. there really wasnt much past all that, but they just noted that msu, iowa and indiana will all be tough big 10 tests for UofI
  3. Yeah, i know it is fake but it was over at tigerboard and it made me laugh....
  4. dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.
  5. Well, they are indeed a talented team and the depth of their bench shows what a good couple of years can do for national recruiting, but i still believe that they are going to have to work a little bit more this year on O than last. Running Dee off of screens to get open and whatnot as opposed to last year when they could just pass it round the horn as all of their players could hit from anywhere at anytime. Still a hell of a team with loads of talent and experience. A truly dangerous team come tourney time.
  6. from a pure athleticism standpoint tommie HAS to be the guy to guard him. JJ can't do it...is too slow on the perimeter. AD can't do it..too short and would get murdered in the post. I have a feeling when Tommie comes out for a breather VN gets that responsibility to attempt to take him on. Here is to hoping that Tommie guards well, but does not try to do too much and get in early foul trouble, as that is a distinct possibility.
  7. >as i watched the "action" on the court, i was stunned by the >difference in play. weber has his team in tourney form it >seems. fantastic team from all angles. i honestly believe >this illini team might be better than last. i love the raw >potential that randle and pruitt add to the team and it will >be interesting to see if they can overcome the top >professionalism that williams, head and powell took with >them. Roy, I am going to have to agree to disagree on this one with you. While I feel that the defense that UofI brought was superior than the team of a year ago, the O isn't the same. Last year's Illini team would have beat that MU team by 50 or more. They had the ability to score at will against anyone and they did it with great versatility. To be honest, at times--not many, MU played pretty good D, but then would get a stop go down the floor and pop a three within 10 seconds of getting the ball...and usually miss of course. Anyway, I think that this year's Illini team has to work more at O, albeit the great game last night.
  8. Basically an angry fan threw an entire tub of popcorn on Quin from the stands. He was picking it out of his hair for quite some time.
  9. Cannot say that it was a highlight, but damn you gotta love karma. If anyone watched the game and saw what happened to Coach Snyder toward the end of the game, well it was a aweful act of poor sportsmanship and cowardice and that person is probably laughing somehwere and having a great time thinking that everyone is talking about him/her. However, you almost have to think that the ole "what goes around comes around", "you made your bed, now sleep in it", "sold your soul to the devil"...etc. cliches all apply. AGAIN, I absolutely positively wholeheartedly CONDEMN what this person did. Just saying that this is how far MU basketball has fallen. http://www.tigerboard.com/userimages/1quin_popcorn2.jpg
  10. I really dont have a preference who comes to the games or what county the drive from to get here, but im simply talking about TV coverage.
  11. Aaron 24, soon to be 25 next week. BS '03 Grad School '05 Supporter since the first years of Erwin and Scott, and lover of EVERY team since. Season tickets in 105 E I believe seats 5 and 6. Can't wait to watch the Bills finish out this season and head on to build a great program once again. Hater of Quin Snyder(not necessarily MU), NBA, and The Landing. Ok golfer, ok basketball player, love south city and all the little bars in it. Meet me for a beer anytime!
  12. While this has always been an issue, and has been debated to death, I think it merits bringing up again. This year, with our small swell of resurgance in our little program and hopes for a turn in a big way, our TV situation is pathetic. That said, I have to be honest and say that we cannot really expect a whole lot with last year and our on again off again past. Now. Since that is all behind me, here is what really chaps my ass. With all this new attention that the program is getting, and rightfully so, what can we do to make it better? It really makes me mad when I come to my relatives house in Franklin county (a mere 35 minute ride from downtown) and they have Charter but yet charter does not carry CCIN out there. All these people I have been raving to about our new guys and the excitement around the program cannot even check it out!!! For God's sake, you would think that ESPN+ or something would pick it up for the night and get some local ratings boost. I don't know how it is on the ILL side of the river but this is ridiculous!!!!! How can we expect to build support on radio, newpaper coverage, and print adds? Obviously my vote is for FSMidWest, but how realistic is that? That being said, I am not a Billiken Club member, but would like someone who is to bring up this issue to CL and others in charge at the next meeting. This really needs to be changed and I understand that the A-10 has a deal with ESPN, but that does not help locals all that much. Fellow Bills fans, I know that this has been beat to death, but seriously, what is the next step? Ok, rant over...
  13. probably for the better with DB struggling and the small lineup. Gives us a much needed boost in D from the start.
  14. Walls name has come up on several occasions. Wondering if there is actually any intrest and what his grades were/are like. Checked his stats out once this year and seemed in line with what VN did his last year at Chipola, perhaps Im wrong on that. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure that we can afford another bust like VN in the next couple of years as they will be critical to prove that our program is on the upswing.
  15. >>Im sure brad has a reason for what he does but heres my >>starting lineup if i was coach >> >>C. IV >>F. JJ >>F. TL >>G. AD >>G. KL > >I would substitute VN for Lisch. I would have Lisch as my >top reserve with DP being the 7th guy off the bench. The >reason being why go small when you don't have to go small. >Beside that VN has shown the ability to knock down the open >shot and should do better on the boards. Danny Brown would >be relegated to the 8th spot in the rotation. That might be the worst starting lineup you could put out there. JJ and VN on the court at the same time! Horrors!!! Besides last game, when has VN proven he can "knock down the open shot"? Please refrain from ever thinking this again, for your own sanity if nothing else.
  16. in his defense, he does warrant more time, IMO ahead of Danny Brown, but that is only once his game starts to come around again. That has yet to happen yet. The play that he brought the last ten games of the season last year would be a nice compliment off the bench to give TL, KL a breather.....
  17. We are gonna need that tough non-con schedule when it come bubble time in the future, not this year but down the road. The schedule can handle a couple of losses but the high RPI is what breaks ties for teams right on the edge of the buuble. Come tourney time, I like having that stat on our side.
  18. >He's not even really a big man. What do you want >him to do? Im glad you finally said this. If he is not a big man, then why would be interested in him. We need a big bodied PF for the next couple of years. Not another tweener, at 6'6 or 6'7 or whatever he is.
  19. Well, like Brad said in the article, he can't fault IV for being aggressive and doesn't want to tell him to lighten up on that part of his game, but he has to know how to position himself appropriately so that the refs can see his hands as most of the fouls that are being called on him deal with his hands. That being said, I would rather him be good defensively with 10 and 8 every game, then great offensively but never see the floor b/c he is in foul trouble. The bench gets thing quick when he goes out.
  20. Unfortunately they are considered to be.
  21. Mooseman is already signed to Miami of OH, and the Webster kid is just a Soph.
  22. Somehow or another, I think I am gonna go with Coach Brad's talent asessment. Seems to have gotten him where he is today, perhaps maybe, just maybe it is better than guys posting on message boards? Your thoughts?
