  1. You might wish the rest of the country views the Missouri program as a "black hatted" program but that is just not the case. Outside of St Louis very few talk about the alleged problems at Mizzou. See last years recruiting class as an example. Four top 100 recruits sign with Mizzou - must not look to bad to recruits. As far as next years recruiting goes top 10 recruit Tyler will be on an official visit this weekend. I am $ure you will tell us all how Quin $nyder i$ paying everybody and cheating. The fact is Mizzou's total person/compliance program was commended by the NCAA as a model program in 2002. Plus the compliance is now in overdrive. Also the NCAA has as far as we know found nothing major wrong at Mizzou. If they had found major violation they would notify Mizzou and Mizzou would quickly respond. Responding quickly helps you draw favor with the NCAA brass. Mike Alden is no dummy, he will do what is best for the program.
  2. So far Mizzou has underachieved. It looks like Mizzou has a recruiter who can’t coach and SLU has a coach who can’t recruit. Either way you end up with a mediocre team. At this point it looks like Mizzous mediocre is better than SLU’s mediocre as the great and powerful RPI has Mizzou at 63 and SLU at 98. It looks like the trend will continue into the future. Mizzou has 4 top 100 players arriving next year, quite a recruiting feat given the circumstances. SLU has two maybe three kids who didn’t land on any top 100 or top 150 lists. SLU even got out recruited by SIU. I expect more of the same for several years to come. Until Snyder is fired or learns to coach. A big part of recruiting are personality traits that are tough to learn so I wouldn’t expect Brad to start landing top players any time soon. If Brad can’t land Lisch (who is not even a top 100 kid) after recruiting him for two years I doubt he will ever amount to much more than an above average game coach. He should have locked this kid down by now; instead Illinois, Indiana and other are getting in on the kid. Anyway more of the same for many more years
  3. You can't have contact with a transfer untill they have been released. To bad SLU is private and the Post can't check Brad's phone records. But maybe something the NCAA would like to look into.
  4. I don't see how we are rivals. We rarely play each other. Only in a few cases have we competed for the same recruits (McKinney and Grimes). The only local kid we are recruiting this year is Hansborough which SLU is not recruiting. I don't know why you think we are rivals.
  5. Why do you feel it necessary to list Mizzou's sagarin rating. The ONLY rating that matters is RPI Mizzou 55 SLU 99 Memphis 32.
  6. Let see SLU beats KState by 1 at home Mizzou beats KState by 9 at home = Mizzou 800% better than SLU
  7. Maybe so. But SLU is unlikely to be one of them. I think you will probably play underachieving Mizzou in the first round of the NIT. If they play the game will anyone care? After last nights games Mizzou is 55 in the RPI and SLU is 95. You need top 40 to get in. A few more losses and SLU won't be able to climb high enough, same could be said of Mizzou. But mizzou could get in with 16 or 17 wins if they beat the right teams (kansas, texas tech) and can get their RPI in the low 30's (unlikely). But maybe Mizzou will play better when they get the mostly clear from the NCAA in a week or two. News out of Columbia is that sanctions will be minimal, sorry to disappoint you all.
  8. Since you all seem so concerned about Hansbrough. "I wouldn’t say" MU is "the favorite, but they’re at the top." Also his coach is pulling for MIZZOU. But of course I don't believe Hansbrough's own words. Billiken Roy says Mizzou is out of the running and he must know. http://archive.columbiatribune.com/2004/ja...0105spor001.asp
  9. Very funny thread. By your logic we can expect to see; Texas Tech, Rhode Island, Western Michigan, Rutgers, Alabama Birmingham, Texas El Paso, Creighton, Nebraska, Memphis, and Richmond in the tournament. However should they not win their conference UConn, Mizzou, Oklahoma, Purdue, Texas, Arkansas and Marquette will be in the NIT with the Bills. But wait you said Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma were for sure getting in out of the Big 12. Not sure of the logic you are using. Four spots for the Big 12. I have some nice swamp land for sale if you are interested. Again thanks for a good laugh.
  10. Oakland will finish with a higher RPI than SLU and will make the NCAA tournament unlike SLU. JMac want to play for a WINNER so I think salary arbitration is unlikely. Make sure to tune in Tuesday night at 8:00 on ESPN2 to see what the Savvis center looks like when a basketball game is sold out.
  11. This board is great one day Sodabereger is the greatest coach. Next day he should be offered a long term deal so SLU doesn't lose him. Next day half of you want him fired. LMAO! Don't worry Sodabereger aint going nowhere you are stuck with him. To have other offers your team has to either win or recruit top players. Sodabereger has done neither. Not only did you lose to SMS but they have a better recruiting class than SLU so you can expect many years of the same outcome. The eternal optimism by most on this board is amusing. SLU is the 3rd or 4th best team in the state. I game aginst the Kangaroos could go either way. Who know maybe SLU will make it into the conference tournament and get to play the leagues best team whos best player will break his leg. SLU will get momentum and get in the tournament before getting blown out in the first round. At least you have to keep the dream alive.
  12. What? I thought Sodaberger was the best coach since sliced bread. LMAO!
  13. If you put a consistent top 25 program that makes the NCAA year in year out people will come. If you don't they won't, does not matter how nice the building is.
  14. Throwing things at opposing players while they take free throw shots is also CLASSY
  15. MOST Mizzou fans could care less about SLU but SLU fans think there is some sort of rivalry. Mizzou fans are much more interested in KU all the time and IL once a year. I like to keep tabs on SLU in case there are any players on SLU's team that we might be able to use in a couple of years.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=1682697 According to this ESPN story it appears that the NCAA is not to concerned about the tapes.
  17. Depends what recruiting guru you look at. But I thought you guys didn’t believe recruiting gurus ranked players accurately or else most on this board believe Lidell should be a top 50 player at least a top 100 player.
  18. Athletic endowments are separate from university academic endowments. http://www.sportsbusinessnews.com/index.asp?story_id=30700 http://mutigers.ocsn.com/school-bio/did-you-know.html
  19. 17 of 30 drafted in the first round in 2003 were college players of those 9 were seniors. Not sure how 100 fits into 9. Sure some left early but still most top 100 players never play in the NBA. Cleveland - LeBron James, SVSM HS -HS Detroit - Darko Milicic, Serbia -Overseas Denver - Carmelo Anthony, Syracuse -FR Toronto - Chris Bosh, Georgia Tech Miami - Dwyane Wade, Marquette L.A. Clippers - Chris Kaman, Central Michigan Chicago - Kirk Hinrich, Kansas Milwaukee - T.J. Ford, Texas New York - Mike Sweetney, Georgetown Washington - Jarvis Hayes, Georgia Golden State - Mickael Pietrus, France Seattle - Nick Collison, Kansas Memphis - Marcus Banks (to Boston) Seattle - Luke Ridnour, Oregon Orlando - Reece Gaines, Louisville Boston - Troy Bell (to Memphis) Phoenix - Zarko Cabarkapa, Serbia New Orleans - David West, Xavier Utah - Aleksandar Pavlovic, Serbia Boston - Dahntay Jones (to Memphis) Atlanta - Boris Diaw-Riffiod, France New Jersey - Zoran Planinic, Croatia Portland - Travis Outlaw, Starkville HS L.A. Lakers - Brian Cook, Illinois Detroit - Carlos Delfino, Argentina Minnesota - Ndudi Ebi, Westbury Christian HS Memphis - Kendrick Perkins (to Boston) San Antonio - Leandro Barbosa (to Phoenix) Dallas - Josh Howard, Wake Forest
  20. How do you figure, every year there are 100 new kids in the top 100. Last time I checked there were only 30 1st round picks. Your math doesnt add up. Plus this does not even count the abundance of overseas talent that never playes college ball that is drafted each year. Plus last time I checked Dooling is playing about 20min per game and collecting a nice paycheck.
  21. Paulding and Johnson were ranked between 60-100 hardly sure fire 1st round NBA talent.
  22. "and missouri has won how many big 8 no i mean 12 conference titles?" They have won big 8 titles including an undefeated big 8 season in the early 90's. They also have won quite a few games in the tournament in recent years. "have you seen the arena we will build with private donations?" It appears that so far you have raised a total of 10-20 million dollars. The almighty budwieser does not make for a sustainable athletic endowment program that big schools use to fund their athletic programs. "i guess it has nothing to do with the fact that saint louis university hospital has a fantastic cardiac unit? hughes had committed the month before the donor became available. so your timing doesnt even come close to making sense." I guess getting a transplant only weeks after committing is very convienent. I wonder if others on the waiting list had the same opportunities?
  23. That Grimes or McKinney would ever end up at SLU. If and it is a very big if Mizzou would have a postseason ban why would these kids go to SLU. They want national exposure they can't get that at SLU. SLU is on TV 2-3 times a year, this is small potatoes compared to the exposure they get at MIZZOU or would get at Illinois or another big time program that would definitely want them. The top recruits have eyes on the NBA and who can best get them there. Soadaberger can get average kids to play a boring but effective game of hoops. However he has yet to prove any effectiveness at getting kids ready for the next level. Quin turned two unheralded recruits into first round NBA draft picks plus he turned Rush into a first rounder. Gee I wonder why kids want to come to MIZZOU. The top 100 players DO NOT want to play the style of basketball SLU plays, never will. Yes SLU has the potential to become a nice program like Xavier or Dayton but they will never be a perennial top 25 team. Yes every 5th year or so SLU may hit on a recruit that the big boys overlooked and if he sticks around for 4 years SLU could win their regular season conference title and maybe even win a game or two in the tournament. They don't have the alumni or university support to match what the big time and elite programs can offer. Funny that when SLU's best player in the last 20 years decided that he would go to SLU his family member got a heart transplant from SLU. No accusation here, but according to most of you where there is smoke there is fire. I am sure that this thread will be bombarded with Quin will be fired and MIZZOU will get harsh NCAA sanctions and MIZZOU sucks but most of you have a personal hatred for MIZZOU. The latest "journalism" added nothing new to the investigation. The NCAA has had the transcripts for months. The investigation is all but over, just finishing up the report. Already Katz and other are alluding to the fact that MIZZOU will be "ok". Yes the investigation has been embarrassing but when you are at the top of the mountain everyone else is trying to pull you down. While this is big news in Missouri it is getting very little press nationally. In talking with people around the country very few even know that MIZZOU is under investigation. Many of you will be very disappointed in the final results of the investigation. MIZZOU will continue onward and upward. #3/#4
