  1. "What happens at Savvis Stays at Savvis!"
  2. The biggest problem with Kevin Slaten, at least how I see it, is that he has his own definitions for just about everything. And his definition is always the "right" one, regardless of what is considered normal or customary. In his "example" of an assistant coach telling a player and their family that if they were the head coach that they would offer the player a scholarship and then becoming the head coach and not offering the scholarship then that statement constitutes a lie. However, as was pointed out earlier, did the coach actually say scholarhip offer or would recruit. Either way with Slaten it wouldn't matter, as he would see it how he wants to and everyone else is wrong. Also, needs change as other players are brought into the mix or players you did not expect to make an impact improve to the point that the need for a player recruited may not be as great. Therefore, had the assistant turned Head coach come back to them and explained that they wished they could continue to recruit the player but at this time they do not have a need for the type of player their child is to me would contsitute honesty and integrity. While this would be news that a player does not want to hear, what about that would be dishonest. If this were part of the conversation that happened it would be in Slaten's character to say "Yeah but you said you would offer scholarship/recruit first, so that makes you a liar". THE TRUE BOTTOM LINE....Kevin Slaten is Kevin Slaten and he is juat a Sports format Shock Jock! Take him for what he's worth. My only disappointment with him on the station is that it is during the drive home from work. I wish he was on during the day maybe where rammer and Jay Jr. are slotted. But that probably won't happen....for a few month's anyway!
  3. Slaten while talking in hypotheticals did seem to intimate that Brad possibly while an assistant to Romar had suggested that if he were head coach at SLU that he would offer Troy a scholarship. Then 1 year later and no contract offer. Again this is my assumption based off of what Slaten said, but either way, I am with thicks on siding with Coach Brad until there is proof otherwise!
  4. I think the biggest loss that will be felt with the moving on of chris sloan are the intagibles. Chris left everything on the floor and played his heart out. While the new players may have more skill, only time will tell if they have the intensity or heart that Chris Sloan had. Regardless, we can expect nothing but good things for the future of Billiken Basketball!!
  5. Hands Down best burger for price and quality!! IMHO!!!
  6. Well Summarized!! I don't think you could have gotten a more concise explanation anywhere!
  7. I think it looks goood! I assume all of the other content that currently is on Billikens.com will be there in one form or another, so again, it looks good! Thanks for all your work, Steve!!
  8. Just recently posted from the AP Wire... http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...ation+at+Mizzou
  9. I am sad to say that I will not be able to make it either, as I have a board meeting tonight. I will be a little late as the meeting begins at 6:30, and I plan to watch at least the first half on TV. Go Bills, and everybody that goes I hope you can yell a little extra louder!
  10. I wanted to go, but was unable to attend due to prior commitments. I am an occasional poster on this site, but I live on this site daily, and have followed the Bills Since Jim Roder was manning the Point. Anyway, I was looking at the upcoming schedule, and the Memphis game on February 7th might be a good game to try this again. Depaul on February 21st might be a good game too! Figured I would throw those dates out so everyone could kick it around a bit.
  11. In the Post Dispatch today, it listed the game as being on Fox Sports Net today. Is this a mistake or an unbelievable stroke of luck for us non Charter subscribers? Also, if someone has coordinates for the game if it is not on Fox Sports, could you tell me how to enter them into my sattellite system (Dishnetwork)? Thanks!
  12. How would I use the coordinates to get the satellite feed of a game? While I consider myself pretty well versed in electronics and computers, I find myself at a loss for this. Any Help would be appreciated.
  13. That's the funniest thing I have read on hear in the last week!!! (no disrespect to anyone) I can't really explain why it was funny but I got a good "Laugh out Loud" chuckle out of it!
  14. Could be worse she could say she wants to go to missouri! J/K However, you could hardly blame her though for wanting to go to Notre Dame its not a bad school ! My dad and most of his brothers went to slu, the one that didn't went to Notre Dame!
  15. 30, Married with one Billiken Fan, I mean son. Graduate of SLU Classes of 95(BA communications) and 99(MHA). Work in Healthcare on the managment side. Have been in healthcare for 13 years, but have been a Billiken fan for 30 years. My dad was a SLU grad circa 1966 (undergrad) and 1968(graduate School), so I have been a fan since conception, and have attended most home games since I was probably 5 years old. So thats who I am - kind of!!!
  16. I have to agree, while I do not have fond memories of Coach Romar, I do agree that the best thing he did for SLU was to hire Coach Soderberg. He brings the excitement, knowledge, and attitude necessary to carry us for as long as we can keep him here. My fear is that he may get lucrative offers from "more prestigious" basketball programs. Now that is not to say that Coach Soderberg is the kind of coach that would see SLU as a stepping stone, but he would be crazy not to consider those opportunities. However, that said, isn't it great that we can even present that as a problem for SLU? When Coach Romar left, you had half the people saying good riddance. We also almost never got the players that we/Coach Zo were targeting. Anyway, practice is less then 2 weeks away, so let's get ready to rock!
  17. I agree as I remember, 15 and 16 were girls only floors. But thats been a few years back now.
  18. It's always been good to be a Billikens fan, it just has tasted so much sweeter the last couple of weeks! Of course if not for good ole Steve a.k.a. SLU SignGuy, this hysteria and anticipation would not be possible, at least to this level. So hats off to Mr. SignGuy once again for creating a place where billiken fans can laugh, cry, and scream from the rafters together!
  19. Outstanding...sends goose bumps up and down my spine... Could you imagine last years Louisville game at the new arena? Out of this world!
  20. The radio progam is Steve and DC in the morning, and they have Brenda on every Monday Morning. Of course this was started when Kurt was still the starting quarterback, so I am quite surprised that it has taken this long to make it to the main stream media. I guess her comments yesterday struck a chord with someone, allthough, she said nothing that Kurt has not said himself in recent weeks...."He wants to play, and if it can't be here, maybe it can be somewhere else..." I have that in quotes, but it is a paraphrase. Anyway, right or wrong, agree or disagree, those are the facts as I know them!
  21. Gister, I was logged in looking at some stuff, and apparently that was up across the web. I had checked the remember me box, and that tied up the entire system, so I went back and unchecked the box, and that kicked my name out. Sorry! Problem with the site I guess. Still glad that we have new stuff. Thanks!
  22. I can't believe that we finally got a "decent" selection of Billiken wear to purchase. I have been wearing the same Billiken sweatshirt, from when I went to SLU back in the early 90's, to all the games and bars to watch the games. My wife begs me not to wear it anymore due to its worn and weary appearance. She tried to replace it with a longsleeve t-shirt, but it just wasn't the same. So to make a long story short, I can finally get a new sweatshirt to wear out in public. Good job to whomever at SLU got this up and going. I can smell October 16th coming around the corner!!!! My 4 year old son has been asking me for 3 months when the Billikens are coming back, and I can finally tell him next month! Here's looking forward to an interesting and exciting adventure this year with a fairly young and fresh team!
