  1. I think that is a fair point. People root for terrible teams because they are THEIR team so I can see where having a local team could make the experience different. That said, I traveled to Denver a lot in my previous job and had the opportunity to see the Nuggets and get to know the team. However, I still just didn't see the same intensity and passion that I saw in college ball. Clearly, they are great athletes and incredible basket ball players - no debate, but it just seemed that at least some of the time, the players were just going through the motions. Now, after all that, this will sound hypocritical, but I would still like to see St. Louis get an NBA team.
  2. Totally agree with this. 6 fouls in 40 minutes basically invites a hackfest. Next thing they'll change the bonus to 20 fouls! I do not find the NBA appealing to watch. I always feel like I am watching a bunch of guys just playing a relaxing pickup game, at least until the playoffs. College ball just seems to have 10x the passion and intensity. It would be interesting to see a poll of college basketball fans to see what they think of the rule changes. Maybe most are in favor?
  3. They ARE the far superior program...in criminal convictions.
  4. Yep, that's why we have juries. Of course, we are all allowed to express our opinions...I think....
  5. I mentioned in another thread that I had met the parent of a current VCU player. One of the things we talked about was Allie-Cox. I had mentioned that I thought he was a beast and had a lot of upside. It surprised me when he told me that Allie-Cox was actually a very quiet, almost shy person. So, when I read the above I tend to think that this is a typical story where one party is embellishing the facts to fit their own narrative. I obviously do not know him personally, but based on this parent's comments, I call BS on the girl's story.
  6. Yes. Yes he can.
  7. All is lost...including Hitchcock's job...
  8. You clearly do not understand the power of the pretzel!!! All that said, I was pissed this year that I could only find ONE friggin' honey mustard dispenser. I emptied it every game. Maybe this change could be for the better...hmmmm....
  9. They get rid of my lucky pretzels and I cancel my season tickets!!!!
  10. I would be willing to drink Missourah wine only for one year. No tatoos; I hate needles.
  11. While a lot of people are going to look only for potential faults in your argument to support their own narrative (while also ignoring the valid points) I think your points are interesting if not compelling. It strikes me as odd that some supposed Billiken fans have spent so much energy arguing why JT should not go to SLU. I do not understand their motivations unless they just have a personal need to be proven right. Either way, hopefully, JT makes his choice soon to be a Billiken for all the reasons that ate right for him!
  12. Kathy Lisch used to walk around the neighborhood with a Rosary, actually saying the Rosary. She is very religious and very devout and also a wonderful person. She was probably more devout than some Jesuits. Not sure about Kevin as he was just a kid back then.
  13. What if he wears a very clever disguise...? Like Fletch?
  14. I think this is exactly correct. SLU students had several opportunities to impress Tatum when he attended games this past season. I think Jayson Tatum is intelligent enough to understand that a choice to attend SLU is more about his future in his hometown after his NBA career than it is about one season in college. If he comes to SLU and leads the Billikens back to the tournament, maybe even with a deep run, he will be St. Louis royalty. However, if he doesn't plan to spend much time in St. Louis after his career, then I doubt he is even really considering SLU.
  15. I am not a trademark expert either, but this is exactly what happened to us. Our counsel advised us to secure only a state mark. When one of our competitors decided to enter our market, our state mark held up, but it was made very clear that despite the fact that we clearly had evidence of first use, we could not use the mark beyond Missouri and Illinois. And, even then, there was dispute as to whether or not we could use the mark in Chicago because we had not used it there. I am really surprised that an entity as large and presumably sophisticated as VCU made this common mistake.
  16. Good to hear from you aj - always enjoyed our past debates. Interesting that you heard this "fab five" talk on the Mizzou board. I seriously doubt that there is a any likelihood of this happening as many others have stated, but it is an interesting topic. I just wonder where this idea really originally came from. Idle speculation is easy to start, especially on these internet boards, but sometimes there is some basis in fact however distorted it may be. I would ignore the intolerant jerks on this board. Most of the people are pretty good, but there are some who are very myopic and always spoiling for a fight. You know I hate Mizzou, but I subscribe to the philosophy of hate the sin, love the sinner, so I can hate Mizzou, but still get along with (reasonable) Mizzou fans.
  17. Thanks - I needed a laugh!
  18. You're Irish?!?
  19. Ugh...
  20. Agreed. It is a big loss for the A10. I think he was a good role model for the kids too, but he will have that opportunity at Texas and on a bigger stage.
  21. All true, but we can always dream!
