  1. sorry but if RC fiasco is all true it is no wonder why Quin had the talent.
  2. Well Polk committed early....very early in fact. This is the season of early committments, the july evaluation period is over and recruits are now contemplating offers........hope to hear soon about Shaw......Interestingly if mizzou gets the point gaurd they want that will bode well for Kevin Lisch and SLU.
  3. Claggs and highmark, were 33% and 37% respectively their first year. Claggs jumped to 45% in his second year and hishmark eventually climbed to 41% in his third year. In perspective drejaj was a pretty darn good player for a freshman. The question is does he have the talent to improve year by year?
  4. Roy I would agree with you on Drejaj. His shooting was much better than I expected. I recall Highmark and Claggs being pretty streeky thier first season, and I would not be surprised to see drejaj develop into a 40+ % shooter from behind the arc. His tenacity will keep him competing for a starting job all year. Hopefully his tenacity rubs off clark and morris forcing them to play at a higher level as well.
  5. east coast thinking Georgetown, St. Johns etc because they associate with midwest schools would not be able to recruit well. I think that is very biased thinking. In all honesty if the Big East splits up Tranghese should step down once the duist has settled, because he is clearly not a visionary.
  6. the post had a excerpt of a statement from ALDEN and what he did not say I thought spoke volumes about his feelings about Qin and his staff. I think the quote that struck me was....regarding the internal investigation......"I have full faith and confidence in our Compliance Staff, and when their thorough investigation is done, we will act accordingly." Not a word of support for Quin and his staff.....Me think he thinks as MUTGR thinks and no longer trusts quin. Makes me think he was not aware of the something in the depositions.
  7. As for SLU fans I think we certainly are giving Romar the Benefit of the doubt, but Estiger, it is not just that They did not win those recruits, some of MU violations (ie the McBride meeting) did not result in winning. Romar had three years to make those mistakes, and to our knowledge did not, so there is no basis to doubt. Now is it possible yes I think 85% he was squeeky clean here. As for Mizzou fans to some extent I cannot blame the head in the sand fan, denial is a wonderful defense mechanism. However, for those who think this is just status quo if you want to play with the big boys I say you are taking a ethical step that I would not support monetarily. It is wrong. It is negatively affecting the whole University, and is a bad example for our society. What has this fiasco said to the women who go to Mizzou? It is ok if an athlete hurts you, assualts you you will not be kicked out (but you will want to leave anyway) and your attacker will serve a one game suspension, stay on the team cause we might make the Final Four, and then we will suspend him for a year, but let him play at the chancellors house on the 4th of July......and the taxpayers of Missouri will continue to pay for his tuition and board!!! I said before in a previous post I appreciate MUTGR's objectivity, and I hope we are all as objective if the shoe (or flip flop) was on the other foot....
  8. If I ma not mistaken, in an interview questioning this story about the cash and who, Crane was asked if Bunge fingered Odom.....and his response ought to make AJ worry. "all our questions were based on facts obtained in our investigation" I read this as saying that they have other records or perhaps witnesses fingering Odom. Now why would the NCAA not be able to find out this information.??
  9. SLU will do with it what you want them to do with it.....But you have to specify what you want done.....1 pt for every 100 bucks would give you 1,000,000/100 10,000 billiken club points. Damn I guess you will jump ahead of me......
  10. MUTGR I am not an attorney but ( I consider myself a legend in my own my mind)I will weigh in on this. I suspect the only way to try a He said She said case is to demonstrate the credibility of the accuser and compare it to the victim . So buliding up to that case all her claims had to be confirmed. I suspect her questioning led to her saying we had a serious relationship I know all these facts about him , I have some of the clothes at my house that quin gave him......etc. I admire your objectivity I hope I would be as objective if the situation was reversed......
  11. It's tremendously important for a recruit to think highly of a program during the recruiting process, but when the program has the kid's coach in their corner, the sky's the limit. That said, the Niners are in the mix with Ousmane Konate, a beefy 6'8, 265 pound power forward originally from Senegal and Troy Mathis, a 6'0 point guard, both of which hail from Laurinburg Charter High School. According to Larinburg assistant Jay Couch the Niners are critically close to landing the pair. "Charlotte is definitely close to getting them," said Couch. "I've known the Charlotte staff for years now from back when Rodney (White) was here and we just love how Coach Lutz and his guys develop players. We have a great relationship with Coach Moxley and them. We're gonna do everything we can to get them to Charlotte." The name Ousmane Konate may come as a surprise to some, as the big man had previously given Coach Quinn Snyder and the Mizzou faithful a verbal. However, Konate has since re-opened his recruitment and it looks like the Niners may be the team to beat. RivalsHoops recruiting expert Mike Sullivan described Konate as "a big, strong, and muscular forward, can run the floor like a guard and is very skilled around the basket," and Couch concurs. "He'll be a pro in two years," said Couch. "If he comes to Charlotte it wil be for about two years. He's the most physically gifted player in high school. I think he would kill Al Jefferson. He's way to big and strong for Dwight Howard because he's 270 pounds. He just gets people because he's so big and can shoot threes. They think the last thing he can do is drive on them and they end up finding out that is what he loves to do." "Troy is built like and ox. He's about 6'2 now and is lightning quick. He's got a pure jumpshot, just a really good player." Mathis has also shown interest in Xavier, East Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Florida State, Clemson and Seton Hall. "When school starts we're gonna get them down there for an official," said Couch. "Charlotte is strong for them."
  12. January 14, 2003 Konate Will Repeat at Laurinburg -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Russ Blake It's been a long strange trip for Ousmane Konate, but the beefy 6-8, 265 pound power forward from the Senegal has found a new home this winter. Initially, Konate was expected to finish up this year at Bridgton and enroll next fall at Missouri. However, upon his transfer into Laurinburg, he was reclassified as a junior. That means he will do another year at Laurinburg following the 2002-2003 campaign, and won't enroll at Missouri until the fall of 2004. "Ousmane left Bridgton for academic reasons," Laurinburg coach Rolando De La Barrera said. "He needs to boost his core grades and get his test score." Konate appears to have gained considerable weight since the last time we evaluated him at the 2001 NBA Players Association Camp, he has some good power moves, including a drop step. Konate is expected to finish out this season with De La Barrera's Institute team, and will likely switch to Head Coach Chris Chaney's Laurinburg Prep squad next winter. Laurinburg has three different squads -- an Institute team, a Prep team and a Charter team.
  13. The coaching staff was not after grimes in early june, perhaps they read the writing on the wall or whatever, but I do not think the sudden decision to offer shaw had to do with Kalen committing to Mizzou. I suspect that after the evaluation period they determined he was the best fit....do not know what held them back perhaps they wanted to see how he did against some big bangers at the Super Showcase.
  14. Konate has been included in this years recruiting class for Mizzou, including the rankings that have them with a top ten class, BUT way back in november or december he was reassigned to the 2004 recruiting class, meaning they made him a "junior in high school standing". I have never seen the Post report. Now Mizzou still has a fine recruiting class.....it just does not include Konate. PS I hear Kleizia did not sign a LOI with mizzou, I think his decision came after the deadline. I wonder if he was instructed not to in case sanctions occur, or will it just be dumb luck for him...to have the option to leave.
  15. The PD has more information than we have read about. The article today talks about BUnge making statements in an interview last month.... Don't you think with th sunshine laws the newspapers will get a great deal of corroborating evidence. When the NCAA investigation starts Clemons will have to testify....at this point why should he not tell the truth even if it damages his previous Bball program. Not hard to imagine why clemons thought it was ok to break all the rules that he broke to go the the fourth of July party, I mean afterall it appears everyone around him was breaking the rules everyday.
  16. Weslel left after Clemons committed, and that leads one to believe that clemons had some serious help getting his 24 credits over the summer, because if he did not get them then........Kroenke was the point all year. I am glad though that quin draws the line somewhere....."they were clothes I wasn't wearing"....otherwise it would be getting even weirder than a shoot happy point gaurd, holding his girlfriend hostage after he choke her, while wearing the clothes his coach gave him to compete in...(flip flops?) and getting fifties and hundreds from someone in the basketball program.......perhaps Roy was right Josh Kroenke the source within the Bball program.
  17. I assume you refer to the phone calls etc... and I would agree although it remains to be seen what the NCAA feels about the conley situation. I would think though that the NCAA would consider the Cash handout more seriously, if true. I would also agree that the most serious offense may very well be the 24 credits obtain with copies of test questions and who exactly helped him do that. None of this comes to light if clemons behaves himself, but he has not and I think with depostions containing these allegations, the NCAA will feel obligated to investigate Mizzou.
  18. Bunge testified clemons told her he got clothes from Snyder, and shoes, this is now confirmed by snyder and physical evidence. It lends credibility to her testimony that clemons told her he got cash from Odom.
  19. they were the ones requesting records....I would suspect they had info about what they might find in the records. Looking back at Georgia's antics and the start of that investigation, I think this is more significant. Bunge is either telling the truth or committing a crime. Thus I would bet she is truthful and the plot thickens. Will Quin survive this or will he depend on his friend at Olney to give him a shoe rep job....?
  20. What are the rules here, does anyone know....
  21. his points per game average is less than his worse season, assists per year career total is lower than his worse season. Isuspect you program is dividng by 4 years and not 3.
  22. getting its house in order prior to the Big East Merger.
  23. How many times did marque, fish, or drejaj drive and dish to Brown, Sloan, diener for a three only to have them miss the basket. Regardless of how good the pass was if the ball does not go in the hoop it does not show up as an assist. I would hope that with batter overall shooting assists will increase. Perhaps as well Marque was his own worse enemy, too good not to take the last shot and everyone in the arena new it. Perhaps in the silver lining of next season, no one will know who will take the last shot, I would hope that we have Sloan, Bryant, Drejaj, Fish, IO and Clarke eager to take these shots. I am hoping two or more of these players will be up to the task. I bet it is Drejaj and Ike.....
