Medley supposedly is getting feelers from other A10 schools. My guess are the two Philly schools. His parents are really nice folks who supported his decision to play for Ford. He comes as no surprise. He likely wants his parents, family, and friends to see him play more and Camden is a suburb of Philly. Not sure what his NIL value is at this point, but would guess not real high. Gibby on the other hand could hit the jackpot at a P6 school. I wonder if Pitino is talking to Travis about him? Ricky lives for the 3.

My guess is he wants to go dancing. It will be up to him where he thinks he has the best chance to get there. Can a new coach come in and convince him he’s not going to be playing on a rebuilding team? If Schertz is indeed the new guy and brings with him 3 or 4 of his guys but convinces Gibby he’ll play a major role, ie starter, than that might sway him to stay. But if some high rolling NIL funded to the max, he may go for the $’s. A lot of factors to consider for him. Whichever way he goes don’t bear him ill will. He was a great Billiken who put up with a lot of frustrations under Travis. The biggest being missed expectations of the program. Good luck, Gibby.

All in favor of a high powered offense, but would really like to see a defense that is ranked somewhere between 100-150. Offense is fickle as a team is bound to have off nights. Good D tends to be a stabilizing force that can keep you in games when your O is misfiring. It’s why Rick always said to win defend and rebound.

You’re correct about ND to the B10. So let’s just stick to hoops the remnants of a dissolved ACC have some great hoops resumes, especially Duke, UL, and Syracuse. So I could see them seeking refuge in the Beast for hoops Not sure what their FB programs do. The remaing ACC schools would be Duke, WF, Pitt, MIAMI NCS, Cuse, BC, GT, UL, and VT. Add these 10 to the Beast 11 you’d have a 21 team league with great bloodlines. FB could add UConn and you’d have an 11 team FB conference. Maybe bring in WVU to round it off . 22 teams for hoops and 12 for FB.

If the ACC breaks up as discussed above I could see where the Beast and the remaining ACC teams could merge to form a super BB conference. Plus they’d have enough FB Schools to form some sort of conference as well that has ND and Miami in it. Bottom line for SLU, we’re effed as far as the Beast goes.

Cian came here for one reason; Ford. He believes Ford made Yuri and thought he could do the same for him. His dad told me that in MB. I think we’ll see him again in the A10.

Cian leaving means he’s been contacted by an EC team. Why doesn’t he wait. I think he came on stronger but not a game changer. I think Gibby is here until the new coach is found and he feels comfortable or not.

Watched the interview w/his players. They seem to really like and respect him. I’m sure he has a feel for what kind of $$’s it would take to get them to follow. SLU should have a good idea of what kind of NIL $$’s they’d need to make them Billikens.

I wasn’t saying we’re actually looking for a Few. It would be nice if we got one and he won like a Few and a Bennet, but it would be a naive question to ask a candidate, ie will you stay if you win? But we should do our best to keep a winner happy and comfortable.

We should all be thankful SLU has a number of whales that see the importance athletics plays in the overall functioning of the school. For far too long we’ve screwed up the hiring or retention of coaches. Spoon showed us how popular a winning program could become in the community. Our response was to make him buy his own ice cream cones. Majerus does the same and we reneged on the use of private aircraft. Ford, a somewhat splashy hire, does not meet expectations but gets all the benefits we denied our two greatest modern era coaches. Then they over reacted for the wrong guy. We need to get this one right, otherwise we may risk the whales turning off the spigot. Hopefully, Schertz is the right guy and we get ourselves a Mark Few and Randy Bennet type long term coach.
