Except for H. I would say we haven't had many real good point guards. Also remember this will be Josh's 4th year here ... many of our point guards have only played 2. What is Josh's best assist per game average? Also I am not sayin g Josh has done a bad job ... his 4 assists and low turnovers show that he is consistent and safe. We will have to just disagree on this one. I am not knocking JF ... I have said many times he is solid and consistent ... but I don't think he is creative. Time will tell on this one ... Josh should play after SLU ... watch he will play the 2. I think him playing the point at SLU has hurt his development. BTW ... Westcoast ... how do I say this without being offensive ... because it is not intended. I would venture to guess that you have not played much ball. Fisher is playing the point and is doing an adequate job ... but he is really a 2 ... and I think a very good one ... as I said before if he was able to have played the 2 for a couple of years instead of always being thrust into the 1, I think he would be a better player today. His physical tools are better suited for the 2. He can shoot and he can drive and score. With more time at the 2 he would have probably developed more of a midrange game also. At the point ... his strengths are ball control and consistency. You said he can go to the basket and if there is an open man he can get it to him. ... He needs to create the open situation with his drive ... sorry but if you think he drives and creates open layups for his teamates or swings the ball to an open player for an easy jump shot ... you are watching a different game than I am. When JF drives his intent is to score ... nothing wrong with that ... it is just the mentality of a 2 not a 1. Josh does not have great vision either. Coach recruited a true 1 in Brandon Morris because he knew he didn't have one. We as a team get very few easy baskets ... that is due to lack of a real pt. I am not knocking Josh ... I said this exact thing on another post ... It seems to me we don't even try to pass the ball down low. One problem is lack of a true pt gd. A little film will show that all of our guards except AD ...( who is careless with his passes ) ... do not pass off when they drive. This enables the opponents bigs to help out on D with very little threat of a pass to his man. A team with a point like Josh who is steady and consistent but not creative needs teamates who can create on their own or very skilled bigs who can set up, receive and entry pass on the block and score or get fouled ... except for Reggie we do not have either. I would like to see us isolate Izik down low and let him use his quickness more often ... when he makes his move Tom and the PF crash the board ... we need to clear out though and give him space ... same with Tom if he has a lighter guy on him Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. I know the ages ... my point was we are not an exceptionally better team right now with JJ on the floor over Ross. To be a better team Brad has to make JJ play to the best of his abilities and to reach his potential ... to do this he must instill the proper work ethic ... We need the following lineup to be the best team we can be 1 - JF ... no complaints ...plays to the best of his ability every night 2 - RB ... must be on the floor 32 -36 mins per game for us to be successful 3 - IO ... needs to pull up more which in turn will open up his drive, must finish stronger at the basket 4. CS/JJ ... I would love to see JJ do the things neccessary to start ... which would be tough inside D. and demonstrating the ability to receive the ball down low and score. 5. TF ... Must stay out of foul trouble to play 30 mins per game. He has demonstrated he has the skills to get it done when on the floor. Reserves CS ... at the 3 or the 4 depending on need .... we need 25 minutes pg of the super intense CS of late last year early this year AD ... at the 1 or the 2 depending on need ... he must find his shot and take the ball to the basket more.
