  1. roy, I have to say that 4 vs. 0 is more important than the extra 2 wins.
  2. I'd agree that the future is looking bright. RM certainly has to seal the deal, but things appear to be headed in the right direction. I'll be disappointed if we're not dancing this March, and ready to take a serious look at RM if we're not there by the end of next season. Until then, let the guy do his thing.
  3. You're talking about Jay Randolph here, so softball questions are all you are going to get. In fact, the Jaybird typically rambles on for several minutes and then stops without ever really asking a question. I remember one time during the late '70s when Jaybird was interviewing Silvio Martinez during a rain delay. Apparently nobody told Jaybird that Martinez didn't speak English. You could hear Buck and Shannon laughing in the background as Jay would ramble on for 2 minutes and Martinez would simply say "yes".
  4. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/mizzou/article_715574dd-1c35-5e27-980c-24b565cf5dc3.html Lots of flip-flopping for BYU on this one. I doubt this will have too much impact on us, but you never know. If the MWC poaches a team like Houston there could be some ultimate trikle down.
  5. That would make sense if we were going to add football.
  6. Now BYU is supposed to be staying in the Mountain West, which will keep Boise State in the mix. Fresno State and Nevada are also joining, and Houston is supposed to be the 12th team. I guess the BYU Mormon network idea fell apart. I think that channel is out there somewhere on my system, but it probably is in the 4-digit channels. No place where I surf with any regularity. http://network.yardbarker.com/All_Sports/article_external/Denver_Post_BYU_Will_Stay_In_Mountain_West/3116636
  7. Kshoe, I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'll comment anyway. Without seeing the rest of the schedule (opponents, dates, times, etc.) it can be hard to predict what the average will be. I also posted that I thought the crowd would be lower by playing the game on Jan. 1. In my case, I was refering to what the Bowling Green crowd could be vs. playing them on other possible dates. Of course, I'm just expressing opinion. There is no way to prove it one way or another. If the rest of the games are against the likes of MD Eastern Shore then BG might be the pick of the bunch. The more I think about this, most of us are forgetting that Jan. 1 might be the only date the BG can do the game. They might be playing on 12/29 or 1/4 and don't want to cut things too close. Anyway, this is good August debate!
  8. New Years day isn't great for a lot of reasons. While not as big as the night before, many people have parties and family commitments on New Years day as well. Not everyone on the board is under 30 The bowl games on that day aren't what they once were, but there are still plenty of parties centered around them. IMO, I'd rather see the game played on Sunday, Jan. 2. The Rams play at Seattle at 3:15. You could easily have a 1 PM tipoff and people could still watch plenty of the Rams. Besides, I seriously doubt the Rams will be in contention once the middle of November comes around (I hope I'm wrong). As others have mentioned, the combination of a holiday and the having the students gone could lead to about 2-3K fewer tickets sold. What kind of lockdown do you think RM will have these guys under on New Years eve?
  9. I don't really care what Bilas thinks. IMO we should continue to improve. If we drop down tho 5th this season it will be a big disappointment. Barring some unforeseen injury/transfer/etc. I don't see how RM lets this team go backwards in conference play next year.
  10. I agree. We shouldn't be shorted at selection time based on strength of schedule if this is true.
  11. At this point, Cueto is the bigger punk than Phillips, IMO. Carp showed why he is my favorite Cardinal last night.
  12. Eactly. I'm not sure why we're seeing the Holliday hatred on here.
  13. I don't have any idea if Pujols is older than he claims, but there have been many players who have done that. David Green comes to mind right away.
  14. There are at least 2 or 3 regular wack jobs who post on here quite a bit, but they rarely cross the line into behavior that is criminal. Metz has definitely made threats on here and other boards that are absolutely illegal. What a sad situation.
  15. Way to keep it classy. BTW, I don't recall reading any posts suggesting that we don't want to play Duke. At least you haven't made any rape jokes in this thread.
  16. sorry if this is a duplicate post. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/ber...127992bc8b.html
  17. I hope we're not locking ourselves into perpetual mid-major status, but I'm probably in denial. We're already there I guess.
  18. skip, do you know what that icon means?
  19. right skip, let's become Maryland Eastern Shore and play 25 road games. If this is more than a one off it's a definite change in approach for the program. Let's see what happens.
  20. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there were other reasons like you mentioned. Roy Williams is a class act when it comes to that. We were a hot team in the 90s but UCLA caught us after a pretty bad year (we were 16-14, 4-10 the previous season). Do you think we should be a buy game for teams like Indiana, Kansas, etc. every year? I will give you this...we were in a much better conference in those days and that helps a lot.
  21. I'm on CBS quite regularly. Our team probably hasn't been on CBS since the big dance days. You're right, the coverage will be great. I still would like Duke to come to St. Louis for a game. Like I posted, I hope we don't become a regular buy game even for the big names.
  22. I don't need to re-read the post. If Duke is in the same category as UNC, Kansas and UCLA why can't they come play a game here like those other schools have done? They've done it before.
