  1. I am kind of wondering how much of a pay increase your guys got once the Rickster was lopped off the Mizzou payroll...have any idea???
  2. No question that it would be nice to have both in the win column, but it has been pointed out numerous times that for quite a few seasons now that our Bills have been rather enemic as a road team. It's always tough to win on the road unless you have superior talent. Frankly, that just isn't the case right now. I'm certain that I recall we were about a 6-7 point dog VS WVU, and I beleive someone stated earlier on this website that we were no better than a pick for tonite's ballgame. It is a disappointing loss, but I did say earlier today that I wouldn't be surprised if we did lose this game.
  3. Certainly, seems to be some merit to what you write. The stats show we shot 23 of 54 for 43% from the field. However, we were 6 of 24 from the 3 point line for a chilly 25%. Heck, 44% of our shots were from the 3 point line. If we are throwing up all of the 3's then it hard to get to the Free Throw Line. I understand that some of those 3's probably were dictated by trying to come back. We don't have much of an inside game and shooting J's isn't going to get us to the line much.
  4. I don't know because you appear to be the mind reader, not me.
  5. Gee...I see at Mizzou that they did teach you how to copy. What year did you take the mind reading course?
  6. I also saw that we got hammered on the boards tonight and that is inexcusable. As to JJ not getting minutes due to practice...I don't know if this is the case but some players are just better game day players than they are practice players. The coaching staff may just have to decide to throw this kid into the deep water and sink or swim with him. It's pretty obvious that the Sr Varner just isn't the answer...according to the stats 0 for 5 and 0 for 4 from the 3 point line. Time to cut our losses. IMHO if we are going to lose, I'd much rather lose with a younger and more athletic kid getting the bulk of the minutes.
  7. According to the game stats, Ahearn was 4 of 8 shooting 3's so it sounds like he scored his 3's with someone other than Fish guarding him. No way going in would I have thought he would score 21 on a Soderberg coached team, but as the old philosher Forrest Gump once said...it happens.
  8. BR, Well put while this is certainly a disappointing loss, and I was hoping for a win while fearing another loss. Unfortunately, we never seem to get up for the Bears while SMS have this game circled every year and come to play. It's not even close to time for throwing Coach Soderberg under the bus. I still like him and believe that he will get us turned around. We just need to be a little more patient. I suppose there may have been folks that thought this was a NCAA Tourney team in the making. I think we will be in due time, but we still lack some of the pieces especially on the offensive end. Again patience is the word to keep in mind. Coach Soderberg is still the man in my books even with this disappointing loss. Let's rally around him and our team. I will also throw in my wish for a Merry Christmas to all of the great Billiken fans.
  9. OK I did not see or hear any of the game but I have read through some of the posts and I saw that we got smoked in the 1st half. I'd agree that this team on the road for sure has to get their rears in gear from the opening tap. As to Ahearn, that was a Coach Soderberg decision and he's the HC so we have no choice but to go with his judgment. I am surprised that Ahearn was able to get 21 VS our experienced backcourt. Who the hell tried to guard him...don't tell me it was Fish? I'll repeat what I wrote earlier today in that I kind of understood what Coach Soderberg was doing by sceduling four cupcakes early on and time will tell if that was a good strategy. I also felt in order to make that strategy work out in the long run that we needed to win 3 out of 4 to close our non-conference schedule. Well now we have to win the final 3 and winning at Dayton figured to be much tougher task (on paper) than winning at SMS. Hopefully, there will be some very spirited practices this week. I'd also agree with the folks that want to see less of RV. I don't know how much JJ played tonight but he is the better athlete and needs to get more PT...at least that's my 2 cents worth.
  10. Hope to see the Zags beat Stanford like they did a few short years ago at Key Arena in the NCAA Tourney...Richie Frahm and Matt Santangelo did a number on the Cardinal that day. Now the Zags are a national team, and one who could surely make a deep NCAA Tourney run. In addition to very good guards, they now have the horses up front to challenge the big boys in college ball.
  11. I think it is a tad early to be concerned about it.
  12. We really need this ballgame tonight, and the fact that it is a road game and against SMS does have me concerned. Our overall record VS the Bears is rather pathetic...seems like they can always get up for the game and our Billikens rarely do. I'm looking for Coach Soderberg to have our team fired up for this road test. Let's Go Bills!!!
  13. As we wait until next season to see what our schedule looks like, but I won't fault Brad this year as he was breaking in several new players. No real cupcakes from here on out, and we will just have to see if his strategy was a good one after playing the next 4 non-conference games. If we can win 3 of the next 4 then his strategy may prove to be the right one. If we are going to win 3 of 4 then tonights game in Springfield is pretty much of a must win IMHO. Generally, I'd agree that I like to see a tougher schedule, and no question in my mind that none of the wins so far are anything but padding the won-loss record, as they won't help RPI. Hopefully, we will reduce the buy games by one or two next year and add teams with higher RPI's. I'll also welcome T & T...was this just a cameo appearance or will we see more of your posts in the future?
  14. Why don't you take your lame assinine comments over to your ***** Cat board. In the meantime, I'll send you a banana with any luck you'll slip on the peel and fall on your head.
  15. They are a legend in their fans minds...now if they do happen to win anything worthwhile then and only then will they have any right to pump their chest and look down on SLU. Until then, they will just remain a bunch of Kansas wannabes.
  16. They assured that they will be an independent in football at least through 2010 after signing that extension with NBC today.
  17. Pretty freakin testy aren't we...my suggestion...take a cold shower.
  18. There have been some follks (seems like the same ones too) that have been against the Arena project from day one. That's OK as it is a free country, but this project looks as good as a sure thing to me. Hopefully, most everyone will jump on the band wagon, and I will most definitely be making a visit to St. Louis to see some games at the new Biondi Palace...looks like 2005 season.
  19. Agreed...let's see how these two kids careers go over the full 4 years before we make any rash statements about either one of them.
  20. I saw where the hotshot Soph Guard for Grambling (Rush) only had 4 pts tonight on 2/11 shooting...he came into tonights game averaging just under 20 a game. I do look for Blake to have an equally tough game against our experienced backcourt.
  21. So does that mean that there were 5K or less that actually had their backsides grace the Savvis seats. The sooner the new on campus arena...the better.
  22. Yea, and I hear that Frazier is some bum down in Southern MO. I mean SPUMAC surely is very proud of this former student athlete...what a freakin joke!!!
  23. I don't really follow SMS very close so I have no idea how much PT that Master Ahearn has been getting. I'm not looking for him to light up this Billiken team even though the game is in Springfield...home of what used to be (in my days) the most popular Missouri tourist attraction...Bass Pro Shop. Back to Blake, depending on his minutes, I'd say he scores 5 or less on Saturday.
