  1. We're fighting for an NIT berth this season with the current team configuration and I've accepted it. Our best athletes aren't on the floor nearly enough for us to knock off the upper echelon teams in CUSA. That will change next year since Brad will have no choice but to play Ohanon and the youngsters. Whether its the current freshmen or the incoming freshmen makes no difference -- we just need more athletes on the floor.
  2. Clarke played 7 minutes and only in 2-3 minute stretches. Ohanon was wheeling and dealing in the second half when he got pulled. Sure could have used his offense down the stretch.
  3. Kellerman's O'Fallon squad beat Collinsville 47-42. Kellerman's perimeter jumper wasn't falling so he got 10 of his 12 points on layups and free throws. Looks to be 6'6+ and over 200 lb. Evaded his defender with a ball fake when his shot was contested but showed no willingness to drive to the basket, even though he was being guarded primarily by Alec Bone, who is 6'4 170 lb. Kellerman looked awkward in his attempts to post up Bone and preferred to float out on the perimeter. Appears to possess Drew Diener-like running and jumping ability. He'll probably get offers from the likes of SEMO and Drake but he isn't athletic enough to defend the wing at a high major level.
  4. to Vianney. Sorry I couldn't make the game but here's the box score. box score
  5. Sloan has to do the job on Sean Banks or we're in for a long day. He can hurt you inside and outside.
  6. Clark Francis has a habit of getting ahead of himself. Ivan Renko, anyone?
  7. The dude is 6'5 200 lb. What's skinny about that?
  8. Luke also scored 33 against Chaminade, which is an even better team than Desmet. Borgia just didn't have the size to deal with Desmet, so they were able to collapse on Luke all night. They were giving up at least 4 inches at 3 of the five positions on the floor.
  9. No, he's Izik Ohanon minus two inches, which is pretty darn good for a walk on. Was Kalicak the name mentioned, Roy?
  10. Hope it's Mike Kalicak. The kid is 6'7 and has skills.
  11. Double teamed him on the perimeter and in the post and made him give the ball up. Borgia doesn't have any above average athletes other than Luke and 5'7 Alex Moosman and the height advantage that Desmet had was comical. Borgia's starters were 6'5, 6'2, 6'0, 5'8 and 5'7. Desmet's starting lineup is 6'7, 6'6', 6'4, 6'4 and 5'10.
  12. From past experience I know that the site doesn't list every basketball game that is televised regionally. I seriously doubt that our game is a nationally televised game.
  13. Do you have to be a member of the Billiken Club to go? If not, what time is the bus trip?
  14. The Chancellor is a moron. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=dw...=yhoo&type=lgns
  15. Must have been a slow news day in Lubbock. This one is a yawner.
  16. If you'd like, you and I and could make the rounds at Indian Hills, Southern Idaho and Barton and make our pitch to the athletic forwards there. Unfortunately, we would probably also have to do their homework.
  17. I agree but this thread is about alternatives to Liddell if he doesn't qualify. We'll still have a scholarship left to ink a power forward.
  18. I'd rather not think about it until May. There's another test day on April 3.
  19. Well, we know Brad would love his defense. Jones and Murkey are the two best defensive guards in the senior class.
  20. The higher Tommie's GPA is, the lower his test score needs to be. If I was the guidance counselor at East Side, I would be drumming that point home every day with Tommie.
  21. The only reason I expect the 2004 freshmen class to get significant minutes next year is because we will be weak at the point and the small forward positions. If Fish was back next year, Polk would probably get single digit minutes.
  22. "As you watch hoops around the country you see a fair amount of Frosh getting playing time...ours just sit...and sit....and sit...etc." Let's do a quick recap of some of the seasons freshmen from the Missouri region are having. Anthony Tolliver, Creighton 6.4 mpg 1.0 ppg Tim Blackwell, Creighton 8 mpg 3.0 ppg before injury Randal Falker, SIU redshirt Jamal Foster, SIU redshirt Jamal Tatum, 21.6 mpg 7.6 ppg Sky Frazier, SMS redshirt Blake Ahearn, SMS 23.5 mpg 11.2 ppg Spencer Laurie, Missouri 8.7 mpg 0.3 ppg Lance Harris, Kansas St. 10 mpg 2.7 ppg It's fairly common for unranked freshmen to be non-factors their first season. In fact, it's the norm.
  23. Obviously the staff is going to give every opportunity to qualify but I wonder if J.B. Jones or Cameron Murkey will still be available in May. That wouldn't be a bad use of that scholarship.
  24. Michael Jackson is only 45. Janet is Michael's younger sister by 8 years.
