Who will be our statistical leaders next year?
3star_recruit replied to 3star_recruit's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
"I think there's a little too much hype on Liddell." AJ, you're on record as Liddell being our future leader in scoring, assists and possibly rebounding, so you're kinda in the hype camp yourself. I wanted to get some input first before I threw my perceptions out there: Free throw attempts: Vouyoukas Frew throws made: Lisch Assists: Polk Rebounds: Vouyoukas 3 PT percentage: Lisch -
Brandon Rush pulls out of NBA Draft
3star_recruit replied to Nate Latsch's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
"as i pointed out, mcbride is a better athlete than head is and maybe a better shooter as well" You must be thinking of someone else. Head is one of the most athletic players in the entire NBA draft, never mind the Big 10. McBride isn't even the most athletic guard of the returning Illini guards. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18776 "Luther Head ranked as the most athletic point guard in camp. Will Bynum took the award for the 2-guards. Joey Graham won for 3s, David Lee for 4s and Marcin Gortat for centers. " .... On the individual test front, Will Bynum recorded the highest one-step vertical jump at 40½ inches. Gerald Green and Ronnie Price tied for second at 39 inches, followed by Luther Head at 38 -
Is there any chance of cutting out 2500 seats so we can include the offices, practice facility, etc. now instead if later?
-
"Soderberg needs to adjust to the players instead of the players adjusting to his system." Nice sentiment but the coach is going to stick to his guns come hell or high water. Even when we were struggling mightily last year he did so. Catch up on some reading. http://www.billikens.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/d...orum=DCForumID3

Our "home" is getting a new name...

From what I remember of the numbers, attendance nationwide for college basketball is going down, not up. -
DJ All-Star Game on Saturday at Fontbonne

The only way for Liddell to prove you wrong is to become a lottery pick? You're setting the bar a little high aren't you :-) -

Why would the NCAA host the games at a 12,500 arena instead of the EJ dome or Savvis, which have a lot more seats? -
DJ All-Star Game on Saturday at Fontbonne
3star_recruit replied to Nate Latsch's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
It was a track meet with a lot of spectacular dunks, missed dunks, and One crossover moves and the worst defense I've seen in DJ's all-star games. I enjoyed it but this wasn't really basketball. Those of us who have seen Tommie in real games already knew what we have in him so it was no great surprise that he could get to the basket anytime he wants. It won't be quite as easy knifing through Temple or Xavier's frontline but he certainly will be a great improvement over anything we had last year. I'm hoping for a Sammy Mejia-type impact. -
Some notes from the Nike Hoop Jamboree
3star_recruit replied to Nate Latsch's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Hmm, he looked a bit taller than his listed 6'9 at the Eagles Invitational, but I wouldn't have guessed 7 feet for Tisdale. Could that be a typo? -
SLU Men's Basketball 2005-2006 Starting lineup.
3star_recruit replied to VTIME's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
No, you're not. The correct answer is: All three players played PG. But Polk played the position the best and alot of Vashon fans not named VTime would tell you so. -

Good points. So does $45 million = 10,000 seats when you account for inflation? -

I've never understood why we need a 12,500 seat arena. Xavier has it right with their 10,250 seats which are nearly filled to the brim. I don't care whether the thousands of additional "bandwagon" fans from the Spoonball days get tickets or not. They are only around when you win or if there are part of a "cult of personality", which doesn't apply to Brad. Ten thousand seats is plenty. -
Is Kramer Soderberg in SLU's 2008 recruiting class?
3star_recruit replied to VTIME's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Rudy goes to the Vashon Invitational, leads his an AAU team over a very talented Gameface 16s team that is virtually all Vashon players who play together all the time, wins the MVP and still has the audacity to post that Rudy isn't as good as a 5'9 D-2 guard. Whatever. -
The era of the "typical Vashon athlete" ended about two years ago. Vashon's top players like Washington, the Hill brothers and Powell transferred from more academically rigorous school districts to attend high school and have decent to very good grades. And if you believe VTIME, Doss's academics are also in order.
-
Powell's recruiting is still at the "getting mail from all the local major universities" stage. SLU and SIU are simply the schools that have seen him play the most because they are the closest.
-
The days of the Eagles having the best AAU program year in and year out are over. There are enough players of similar talent level in Missouri and southern Illinois that when there is no Tyler Hansbrough caliber talent to anchor the Eagles, other teams are as good or better. At this point of the summer, the Gateway 17s (with Maguire and Moosman) are better and the Gameface 17s (which Bobby Hill plays for) are are on the same level as the Eagles. The Midwest Storm 16s (which Roby Rudy plays for) knocked of the Gameface 16s (Leon Powell) in the recent invitational held at Vashon. The Gateway 16s probably have the best collection of shooters among the sophomores. The Eagles 16s are a notch below those three teams but they do have a promising 6'9 thin man named Mike Tisdale.

A family that close is truely something to be treasured.
-
Then he hasn't grown two inches because he was standing eye to eye with 6'1 Drejaj when they scrimmaged last summer.
-
Broy said something similar a couple of weeks ago. 6'4 is too good to be true. I'll settle for 6'3.
-
I think you're reading something that isn't there. Jalesndad said Wade was a dominant scorer, not that he was ONLY a scorer. He gave Liddell's typical high school stat line to give the initial poster, who hasn't seen Tommie play, an idea of Tommie's game. All of us already know what DWade can do so there was no need to give his stat line.

According to Floyd Irons in a recent radio interview, just Liddell. Lisch is on the list but he doubts that he'll play.
