  1. I'd rather give Triangle and Two a scholarship before I gave one to Joel Shelton.
  2. I checked on the Eurobasket site but could not find Marque yet. Skipper Bologna is a top league team in Italy and one of the better teams in the top league. AJ Guyton has played for the team and Carlos Delfino plays there, he was NBA pick this year.
  3. I would like a do everything guy like Marque too but he is gone. Bryant, Fish and Drejaj will be able to handle it. We may be better off, I am looking forward to more instances of Izik getting the ball at half court and taking it all the way himself.
  4. I hope Floyd realizes with Morris out now, it gives him a real shot at playing time this year. He has a couple months before the season starts, that is plenty of time to get in shape if he isn't already, and it is plenty of time to shake some of the rust off. I don't expect him to be a difference maker like he may have been before the injuries but I think he will surprise some people and give some decent contributions.
  5. He may have had to take more than one course in the summer, but I have heard Coach Soderberg say he has one more class to pass to be eligible. You can take 3 classes in the summer and have none of them at the same time. I am pretty sure Soderberg said Morris needed one more class to graduate and be able to play here.
  6. That is great news. Liddell would be one of the best recruits we have had in a decade.
  7. We are still after Liddell but Marquette is too, and it is becoming apparent that he will not eligible to play his first year so he is looking at prep schools.
  8. AWWWWWWW CRAP I guess we can add Brandon Morris to the long list of Billiken no shows, has beens, never were, and all talk players SLU has had. Brandon will fit in nicely right behind Tony Manuel on that list.
  9. Last offseason was different, hiring a new coach, last minute recruits, european preseawson trip. There was a lot more billiken hoops to talk about. Plus Triangle has said he will not post alot in the offseason.
  10. I like both Fischer and Drejaj's game, but I don't think they bring to the table the nessacary things to be an all around pg. Drejaj might this year, as he looked much better handling and passing later iin the year, but Fischer does not have the qualities to be an efficient pg. He can make due with other ballhandlers on the floor like Perry or Drejaj but being a true one is asking too much of him. Add in his tough defensive assignments he simply cannot handle that load. Morris may not be Majic, but I hope he will do these things: be able to bring the ball up successfully in traffic as good or close to Marque, be able to make clean precise passes, but also take chances on breaks like H, be able to direct the half court offense so it keeps flowing and doesn't bog down which was one of our biggest holes last year, making passes is not good enough though, put people in position to score as well. Our cast of PGs from last year collectively could do these things to some degree but no single player could do them all. If morris can we will be a much better team.
  11. He is lurking as always. His appearances in the offseason are few and far between, he may not post regualarly for another month or two.
  12. I would not classify any of the aforementioned players as a real pg. Marque is a 3 in a pgs body, while he did a great job of handling the ball, he was no majic johnson. Drejaj improved over the course of the year with ballhandling and passing, but I still would not call him a true PG. Fischer with his defensive assignments can never be the guy bringing up the ball every play, plus he lacks some pg skills, and passing and ballhandling is behind perry and drejaj. We didn't have a guy lasy year who could bring the ball up the floor against the press, then direct the team in the offense and getting the team to move and have the offense run fluidly. Lets face it the offose was dead alot of times becasue we did not have that playmaker or distributor on the team. MOrris hopefully will bring that aspect to the team, I guy who fill all the roles that a pg needs to.
  13. Wow I thought we were pretty good at that stat but did not expect 5th in the NCAA. Wonder how having a real PG like Morris will affect those stats next year.
  14. BillikenTX please don't take offense, this has some relevancy because the boy is from your neck of the woods but still WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I didn't think this case could get more bizarre, but it has. If mizzou didn't think it was in trouble it does now.
  16. 11/21 Eastern Kentucky - Win 11/24 Savannah State - Win 11/29 North Carolina A&T - Win 12/6 Arizona - Loss 12/13 @Georgia Tech - Loss 12/17 Grambling - Win 12/20 @SMS - Win 12/27 Butler - Win 12/31 @Dayton - Loss 1/3 Kansas St. - Win 7-3 into conference will be fine by me. We will end up 4-5 games over .500
  17. Rich do you not like soccer? I can't really blame you, I got bored with it after I was about 8. SLU plays SMS tonight another exhibition. If anyone goes a report would be appreciated.
  18. Here is my criteria for 2 and 3. A 2 guard is 6'3 or under A SF at the college level must be at least 6'4 but better if he is 6'5 or 6'6. There can be variables at play here but like was before if you can guard the 3 you can be the three. Fischer could be a 3 even though he is 6'2, cuz he has the strength to guard a 6'7 guy. But those cases are rare. If a guy like Izik or the tall wings on Marquette or Minnesota were out there I would much prefer my 3 to be at least 6'5. The Protypical 3 for a Billiken would be Jeffers or Roland.
  19. Pilz has great connections, they are just hoping he can turn them around. There are very few guys interested in UMSL, so Pilz may have been the best of the lot. Who knows with more mature players maybe he will have more success. I wonder who will get tabbed for Haz. Central. If they get a decent coach they should be state contenders.
  20. > > With all the negative stuff going on lately I thought I'd >mention an item I just read on the CUSA sight. > > SLU had CUSA Academic award winners ... the next closest >school was Louisville with 28. > > Congrats to all our Student Athaletes and especially the >award winners. This is what makes me proud to be a Billiken >fan How many did SLU have?
  21. Jones is a nice player, but his spot has been filled with Polk. With Lisch also hopefully coming the year after Jones would be hard pressed for minutes. Jackson is a helluva talent, he was a prodigy in jr high. Back then he was the best player in his class. He has stagnated in HS, but his sudden improvement las year was encouraging. This will be a big year for him, if he continues his progress he could get some high major looks and definetely a top JUCO or Prep school will go after him.
  22. Query, why does estiger, such an ardent tiger fan he cannot tolerate even a little dissent, lurk on a billiken board? Is he really trying to out some of his tiger friends making anti-mizzou comments or does he secretly want to be a fan of a program that values honesty integrity, ethics and education over everything else?
  23. Defensive lapses are tough, especially with that being the only area where we have veteran players. Hutton was very good last year lets hope this was an off game, but we do have at least 2 other goalies on the roster who are capable of pushing for a spot. I think you would the experienced guy like hutton out there but there are other options.
  24. Soderberg may have said he wants to sign all wing guys, but we do have an offer out to Shaw, or it is thought that we did a couple weeks ago. If there is an offer out there I think Soderberg now thinks Shaw will go somewhere else and SLU is out. If Shaw accepts I don't think Soderberg is going to turn him away because he only wants wing players. I happen to agree with you guys also, Shaw can defend all over the court, but his offensive skills are not good enough to play on the wing at this point. He could be a versatile guy who could stick a big body on a guy like Wade or Stokes but on offense he needs to be on the blocks.
