  1. are ranked 6,5,5 and 5 in the four polls. Both Indiana and UAB have dropped significantly in the rankings, but will be tough road games.
  2. The increase must be due to the new posts on soccer and/or D-1's thread "Who is everyone." Bill 'em! LOL Enjoy both and encourage all posts. I will be happy to comply with your request. However, consider taking the board to the next level before the season begins because billiken fans are catching the fever for SLU.
  3. A big win. It went into OT but a win and in front of 5600 fans - the 2nd largest crowd at a home game. Sounds like a great homecoming weekend.
  4. I agree - go east. The WCC with the exception of Pepperdine are all catholic schools, I believe. Yet I feel there is a better match in the ACC for SLU.
  5. Steve, The board is a great one and getting more popular as evidenced by the increased number of posters and posts. I appreciate your attempt to save memory, but I feel we (posters) should be prepared to contribute so the board can move to the next level. I am not in favor of limiting posters or posts.
  6. Thanks for the link. I've heard that a stroll on the campus could constitute a mini course in sex education. I wish him good health and many more years as president of SLU.
  7. A win which is important, but not a convincing one. The team seems to be struggling.
  8. Yes. It's closer to home; the snow is dry (powder); the New Mexico sun and warmth; seldom any lift lines; challenging slopes. The Taos Ski Valley is primitive by some Colorado resort standards (not glitzy) which I like. It is for serious skiers, no snow boards. It is very European in culture.
  9. I skied Whistler one weekend a number of years ago and it is a great resort and mountain - 8000 + vertical. It is my 2nd favorite place to ski -- Taos is #1.
  10. p.s. also attended some after the game talk show at Stan and biggie's (sp) and would listen to Harry Carey as the host. He was a great announcer (more energy than accuracy).
  11. A&S '64' and MSW '70.' Attended almost all home games and some road trips as well during my undergraduate days. In December, 1962 my former college roommate and I lead the march in which we hung/burned John Bennington in effigy during the 2nd half of the SLU @ Ohio State game. When I was in college I was a resident of Onio and had friends at OSU. After a week of meetings with SLU administrators we both receive a semester of social probation for our behavior. Got to know John Bennington after that incident and he was a real gentleman and gracious individual.
  12. I remember his posts. He thought she should get a pink slip from the administration when in reality he wanted to see her in a pink slip.
  13. Admission to the problems is the first step in recovery.
  14. It has been posted that team members read this board. If so... maybe team members may check out how he feels about the nick name Zorba and if he likes it then the pep band can play the theme song at the games. It could be a lot of fun.
  15. In the pre-season discussions SLU would get stronger and better toward the end of the season as a result of experience for our young team. At this point it seems to be the opposite. Yes there is a great deal of parity this year. I think Indiana and UAB will be tough games and both on the road. However, based on recent play, all remaining games could be tough. We could sure use a convincing win. Maybe at DePaul.
  16. win on the road at ECU 2-1. Congratulations! The team seems to play better on the road than at home.
  17. Ditto! And as the # of posters grow there will be an increase in topics and areas of interests. We are seeing this board develop and mature.
  18. Thanks for your reply and information. I like soccer but am just beginning to learn the basics of the game.
  19. From our record it looks like we played better in the beginning of the season against ranked opponents and on the road. Hopefully, the team can pull it together and gets some wins in conference play.
  20. After reading these posts I just couldn't resist. For you youngsters - I lived on 5-G my senior year (63-64)which was its first year of operation. If memory serves me correctly didn't 5-G connect with the 4th floor of Clemens? Women.... We were allowed to have women visit on Sunday afternoons fortnightly for two hours. We had to clean up, dress up and keep doors and window curtains open at all times. After several months we voted to suspend visitation due to too much effort for minimal or no reward. You had more privacy in the back seat of a car than in your dorm room. And yes... 5-G was crazy back then also as was the whole dorm. There were many out-of-control food fights in the cafeteria. However, I'm not sure just how accurately I could recall most of the antics. With maturity, one's perception tends to distort and stories are embellished. Thanks for awakening my memories.
  21. Thanks for the site. Very impessive!
  22. As I recall reading, SLU had sent out a final offer re: property in the Grand Center area and a decision would be made by the end of this month. Also, aren't the arena plans to be released soon as well as the official kick-off of the fund raising campaign? Any news would be appreciated by the out-of-towners.
  23. Maybe Coach needs to pull Vedad when he gets angry. Talent is important, but not without maturity and teamwork. Due to our lack of performance this past week I think we will not be ranked in the top 10. I hope the team can regain its focus soon.
  24. I would like to see us keep UC and U of L on our schedule.
  25. Wow! When was the last time we lost 2 consecutive home games to unranked opponents?
