What’s the excuse for tonight?

I agree with many of those on this string. I have been a Ford supporter since his arrival to SLU. No doubt he can recruit. After tonight I have serious doubts his coaching ability above average. He has been outcoached at least three times this year- Maryland, Iona and this game...perhaps Boise State as well. The players deserve a coach that effectively elevates their abilities to perform at a high level a new level at game-time. I don't see that happening. The offence for last 6 minutes of the game tonight consisted of Yuri driving to the basket and four players standing around watching. The team seemed lethargic and lost. As far as the absence of a floor leader, that is on the coach-to develop his key seasoned players to excel in the floor general role. SLU can do better than Ford. -
This is one of Travis Ford's worst coached games since he arrived at SLU. The team was not ready to play. When they executed a play...they played right into Dayton's hands. He positioned his players incorrectly into the Dayton defense. When they executed most often they were overmatched under the basket. I put this defeat squarely on him.

The deal is how the uniform appeals to potential recruits, the current team and the student. I am over 50 and am flexible enough to appreciate the cool look of the gray uniforms and the appeal of the logo on the front. I appreciate SLU willing to keep up with the times.

It is very encouraging to hear that "Ford said this incoming class is his highest-character group ever." as character issues set the program back during Coach Ford's first years. It takes character to lose close to 100 pounds. You cannot minimize that accomplishment. Carrying out far less weight should make Bell a quicker player with more elevation in his jump. There is reason to be excited in July for the upcoming season. Excited yes, and realistic that not all of the incoming class will pan out. -
