Can Hayden Daniel’s actually accomplish anything? I can’t think of anyone who has had less control over or influence on the direction that college sports was heading than the previous NCAA President, whatever the #&(% his name was. Probably had enough influence to chose what color to paint his office walls, and that was it.

Wouldn’t those teams eliminated from access to the NCAA simply have formed their own league and conferences, and signed their own TV deals?

Isn’t college sports in the situation it is because it has lost legal battles repeatedly over the last few years?

Correct, anyone can start a training academy in Europe. Unlike US youth sports, they are free, but each player is tied to them until the club decides they don’t want them anymore (because they found what they thought was a better player), or some other club decides to buy the player and give a transfer fee (the players have agents, and some say in this). The training academy is funded by the transfer fees. That’s the basics, there are a ton of details.

This is starting to reach the inevitable end point of where this was always headed. Big D1 basketball (and football) are heading towards being professional leagues. One thing that might save D1 is some system of transfer fees like soccer has. The gaining team pays a fee to the club losing the player. FIBA has also started to demand that NCAA teams that sign a player under contract to a foreign club pay a transfer fee.

Bel Tillett comes from a family of coaches, not just her mom. I think several of her aunts and uncles are coaching at either high school or the collegiate level. I bet she would have a very successful coaching career.

I actually think she’s good defensively and a good ball handler. But not an offensive threat at all. I almost laughed when she took a 3 pt shot and got fouled, thinking why would they bother fouling her. My point was made when she missed all 3 free throws.
