  1. I’m honestly not sure any transfer rules apply anymore curtesy of the courts. At least for non-academic reasons. A situation like Magassa’s would still apply
  2. But you have to admit, we have been subjected to seeing the weave SO MANY TIMES over the past 8 years that it represents a shocking change…
  3. What? An agent putting out made up information to boost a client’s value? Shocking….
  4. Schertz does have his team do the weave??? THAT’S going to be a change!!! Personally, I hope to never see it again. I’ve come to associate it with mediocre basketball.
  5. Coach Tillett brought 4 with her from Longwood. Of course, one was her daughter….
  6. They looked at him and found something that made them pass. Only answer that makes sense.
  7. Is this not the age of NIL, where you build a team by paying players? How is money spent paying more for coaches and more for buyouts to make coaches under contract go away an effective use of your money? Seems to me like the problem is boosters used to the old ways of “it’s all about the coach and how he recruits” instead of adjusting to the new NIL reality. Just 2 years ago they went through the hiring process and found a guy, and in 2 years he either became a total idiot, or Louisville has no idea of how to select a new coach, OR, more likely outcome, they need to spend more in NIL. Schools need to spend less on coaches and buyouts, and figure out how to get more money funneled into NIL.
  8. Interesting question. While we don’t know the actual numbers, I’m saying it’s a way for a school to pay some money to players without making them employees, I.e. launder the money and make it multiply. Example with made up numbers, but you can see how it would work. 9 Mil to players in NIL, say another 3 Mil to cover expenses and turn a profit for whoever is running it. So 12 Mil total cost. You are going to get TV money from the broadcast rights, sponsorship money for ads around the arena, and ticket sales, like you would any game. Say you get 8 Mil for all that. Where do you get the remaining 4 Mil? From the 8 teams each paying 500K to be in this. They get a great recruiting tool to bring in players, plus their 500K turns into over 1 Mil in money that pay their athletes (double your money in a 3 game tournament? Not bad) plus you didn’t pay the players directly, you laundered it through whoever runs the tournament. You can even use NIL dollars from your collective to cover, effectively doubling the money you spent. While the numbers are guesses, I bet it would look pretty good using real life numbers.
  9. Louisville probably should have looked to keep the coach and try to improve via NIL and the transfer portal. They made the wrong (and expensive) choice based on their situation.
  10. That’s Spring baseball (and softball) for you. Last second schedule changes all the time. Works both ways, the rain should be over here by morning, maybe they can work out another game with SIUE or Lindenwood or something.
  11. Saber Tooth Tigers would have been a more interesting choice, if they are going for extinct Ice Age Mammals. @Old guy would surely recall them as well, from his youth.
  12. Next game 7pm East/6pm Central Fri Mar 29th at Purdue-Fort Wayne. They are the Mastodons, for some reason. So don’t call their players Elephants, they won’t like it.
