working to subscribe to all billikens games.

Recommended Posts

I just wanted you guys out there to know that we are very interested in giving you guys a home to watch all the Billiken games. I have talked with my owner and he has given me permission to check into what it would take for us to get charter cable which is where most of the games are shown. We are also gonna see what it would take to recieve all the random espn channels that they are showing all the rest of the games on.I will let you guys know asap weather we are gonna be able to do this for you or not. Again anyone that would like to be put on the list for next friday for the partys from 9-11 let me know.. it was my mistake to think that the slu game would be shown on espn.. it is gonna be shown on espn U. This is one of the channels that we are going to try to subscribe to. Sorry about the mix up.. Just so you know i have been watchin slu games since i was a kid and Anthony Bonner and the billikens i believe won the nit. they have been the only team to watch in the stl for as long as i can remeber and it is gonna be a blessing for you guys that you are finally gonna get your own stadium. Anything that i can do to work with you let me know.

yeah we are a sports bar but until now we have mainly focused on baseball. (cardinals) I have talked to the owner and he thinks that it is a good idea to consider not being so 1 dimentional. we tried to do some things with football but with football overlaping baseball it didn't work out to well. i am personally a big fan of basketball and happy to try to change things up a little

Thanks for replying...it is just that so many places advertise themselves as "Sports bars" and really aren't. It is rather frustrating. Need to be able to get college and pro sports, all the packages...As long as a game has ANY television whatsoever, it should be able to be seen at your bar if it is a sports bar. I can understand with the isolated location near Busch, etc...that you guy's might just want to be a baseball bar...but why not just stay open during baseball season? Do you do a decent business outside of baseball season when Cards are in town and post-season of course? ...I am asking because I don't know.

I would think at the very least you would carry the local and regional college teams' games in college football and basketball, along with pro.

Not trying to be a dick...but if you aren't carrying satellite packages of college football, hoops, and other sports, as well as pro sports packages...and carry the basics like an ESPNU, CSTV, etc...then you aren't a sports bar.(Many other so called St. Louis sports bars have this problem too) You are a bar that turns its tv's to Cardinal games, has Cardinal memorabilia...and draws a Cardinal crowd. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with that at all...but that is what you are saying you are at this point.

Do you guys even get the MLB package so you can show many baseball games on your screens when the Cardinals are not playing...or when people want to follow rival teams during the season, or see a good game? Just curious.

these are all good points. just so you can have some background. i ran club buca for 3 years as general manager and got into a disagreement with the owner so i went my own way. worked my a## off and became general manager of hraboskys at the end of last season and brought what i knew from being a club manager over to hraboskys.

this whole "sports bar" thing is new to me. i think that you have great points and i would like to implement alot of them. baseball package etc..

i have a great owner who is willing to spend some money and try things that we have not tried in the past. i am just on the hook for whatever we try so i am just tryin to pick and choose carefully.

i think that the Billikens is a great opportunity and the response that i have gotten from you guys has been great.i am very intrested in tryin to accomidate you guys. i want to be real and legit !!! i want to give you guys a place to watch your games with good drink specials and i even have a fully operational kitchen that i could use to my advantage. thank you for the response and please let me know what i can do to accomidate you guys..

again i am goona check on the schedule and do everything that i can to get all the slu games so u guys know that you can come here and be appreciated.

thanks Jason Hank

Fair enough. Thanks again, and good luck to you.

I would just think that during Cardinals off-season, you would need a hook to get consistent crowds. ? No? With your isolated location.

During the Baseball season, you could show other games, either division rivals, or high profile Coastal games(NY, Boston etc)...if you are a baseball bar first...MLB package is approx $150 a season.(pretty fair for 6 months) I get it myself, and it is great, worth every penny. Other sports programs are in similar price range, so the investment imo is not a great one annually. I know if you catered to people on this board(drink and food specials, sound with game etc...) you would get a nice dozen to couple of dozen out to your bar for SLU games on regular basis for games.

I am all for SLU first and foremost here....but if people here aren't receptive to you Jason, alums from other schools, bigger schools, meet throughout the area for games...i.e. a u of Nebraska bar, or U of Wisconsin bar..etc...you could look into that. Same for pro sports teams and fans.
