Billiken Law Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 SLU goes to Cincy on Feb. 25 and the Bearcats get Charlotte, Louisville and DePaul twice. Quote
Taj79 Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Cincy has been (lately) our tradtional one and only forray onto the national television scene ..... one has to wonder that without them coming to the Savvis this year, who (or will) we make the ESPN roster for the upcoming season. Don't see much there in the way of non-conference games (only 'Zona is a national TV type opponent but what is our catchy handle for inclusion?). Which means CUSA. Must be Louisville, eh? If we play them twice and/or one at home. Quote
tseugnekillib Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 I thought we had home and away with DePaul/Marquette/Charlotte. With Cincy being a road game, I'd guess Louisville comes to the Savvis. The road game I don't want would be at UAB! Quote
Billiken Law Posted August 20, 2003 Author Posted August 20, 2003 that was the original plan, until Marquette made the Final Four. It could remain but right now ESPN and ABC are setting their schedule and if they want MU to play Memphis and Louisville (MU will definitely get DePaul), well then the conference will give in. Of course, it still could be MU, DePaul and Charlotte for SLU (though I think Louisville and Memphis are better alternatives than Charlotte based on proximity and my desire to road trip to Memphis for a game). SluSignGuy Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Grr... I would much prefer the old Division schedueling. Marquette twice, Cincy Twice, Louisville Twice, Depaul Twice... Louisville better be coming to Saint Louis if WE are going to Cincy. Steve Quote
billiken_roy Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 the real problem is the conference expanded too far. until then, the teams always at least played once per season. but then they expanded again and that forced the schedule whereby each season you only played a portion of the teams in the other division. i have to admit that was bad. i dont particularly like the new set up, but it is a fairer alternative for everyone. hopefully it will only be in effect for a couple of seasons and then we merge with the other non football schools of the big east for a controlled fantastic basketball conference. :-) Quote
