Tommie Liddell - Saint Louis

Freshman, Guard, 6-4, East St. Louis, IL/Hargrave Military Acad.

Earns his second Rookie of the Week citation in as many weeks...scored 13 points in all three games this past week and averaged 6.3 rebounds as Saint Louis went 2-1...in a 69-53 win over Jackson State on Dec. 5, he had 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals...then had 13 points and two rebounds at No. 23 North Carolina on Dec. 7...closed the week with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in a 66-59 win at Oakland on Dec. 10...was 15-35 (.429) from the floor and 9-15 (.600) from the line for the week "

On the basis of the games this week, it is clear that TL is beginning to assume the mantle of team leader and go-to guy, not necessarily for the key bucket, but to make the key plays, ranging from assists to blocked shots to big rebounds. What a coup for UB to keep this guy at home. There seems to be no doubt that barring injury, his future is extremely bright.

If TL could win this award two weeks in a row (last week, it was on the basis of one good game), can KL be far behind when it comes to chances of making the all-Freshman team (if there is such a thing)? That is assuming his game steps up more consistently. And I assume it will as he gets experience.
