Billiken Law
Not positive on this (like many NCAA regs, up for intepretation and nothing "on point") but I think that it is OK if the recruit is on campus. If the player has ever given money to the program then forget it as he's considered a booster.
Taj79
... Oscar Robertson .. who has a statue outside Fifth Third Arena/? Shoemaker Center at Cincy, is in the front row for each and every game, served as an interim head coach during Huggsy' "down time" and has to be a "booster" in some way. billiken_roy
taj, oscar serves as a mentor for players already in the program. i have never heard he is used for recruiting prospects.
Billiken Law
A booster is someone who has given specifically to the athletic department. If I give money to SLU Law I am not a booster, but if I join the Billiken Club I am, even if I give only $50.
Billiken Rich
I could be wrong but isn't a season ticket holder a booster regardless of whether or not they belong to the Billiken Club (or equivalent?)
Billiken Law
Another grey area. A season ticket holder is considered a booster. However, I'm not sure what the deal would be if one were given the season tickets and didn't pay for them. There are ways around the booster label. However, based on Robinson's relationship with the program and his stint as "interim coach" I'd have to think he'd be considered a representative of the program and thus prohibited from meeting with or contacting with recruits off campus.
