Quality Is Job 1
Jamal Johnson. Even though he was a Billiken only one year, if not for him the Bills would have been atrocious in 1996, and he led them to an NIT berth. I wish, though, that he'd have picked SLU after junior college rather than Florida State. He would have played with Claggett, Highmark, and Waldman. Does anyone else smell Sweet Sixteen from that alignment? Saint Louis U. has never gotten the timely breaks.

I thought about saying, "whichever school in Florida he went to," but I just went ahead out on a limb.

As a kid, the first teams I really remember were the Claggs & Highmark teams. When they graduated I was devastated and did not know who to turn to as my new favorite Billiken. Jamal Johnson stepped up big time and filled the void. I remember joking about how he was a hybrid-combination of Jamal Mashburn and Larry Johnson.
