Spring Signing Period

Recommended Posts

The spring signing period runs from April 16th through May 21, 2008. SLU has two scholarships open. I assume one is being held for Harrelson. I don't hear much about what might be done with the other open spot. Does anyone expect a signing this week?

There's the Mbakwe kid from Marquette. And that PG from Alabama, I think.

I've also been talking about coming in to provide some experience off the bench at the 3. I'm a rare player. I've got length, toughness, and I can finish below the rim. I'm Kyle Cassity 7 years from now, w/ his basketball skills from 4 years ago. I'm not expected to come in and log major minutes, or be a program changer, but I'll kick in a wide open lay-up or fifteen-footer now and then, and I can be counted on to shoot a pretty steady 57% from the FT line. I really shine on defense, though; I play "Vitruvian Man" in the middle in zone or man defenses and really clog things up for the other team. I'm really good at sending bad free throw shooters to the line. Almost too good... If Harrellson or Mbakwe end up looking elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see Majerus offer me. I don't know, I'd say like 50/50.

Kyle Cassity and Ruben Cotto will sign this week.

The staff has been out recruiting a lot of kids. Obviously Harrellson is one. Chase Robinson was another, though I doubt they really go after another guard.

"...'ve got length, toughness, and I can finish below the rim..." This is more an audition for movies with a heavy bass sound in the background..

The Washington Generals have an opening right now no need to wait for RM's decision.. I'll be your agent.. :o

Nate, any word on Cotto's ACT? Wasn't he going to take it earlier this month?

He took it on Saturday. He'll find out how he did in the next week or so, I think. I don't know how long it takes to get the results.

If he did well, you should know pretty soon. Poorly and it takes a lot longer. One of the mysteries of test scoring.

Thanks for the info

This day in age, you'd think they could put it into the computer and get the results immediately.

When I took my license exam for social work about 15 years ago I took it on the computer and I received my score immediately. With a score sheet it takes longer. When my son took the ACT last fall, I think had the score in about 3 weeks. Also, he also took the test again last Saturday.

I'm pretty out of date re: the ACT, is 18 a qualifying score?

Test Scores

· Division I has a sliding scale for test score and grade-point average. The sliding scale for those requirements

is shown on page two of this sheet.

· Division II has a minimum SAT score requirement of 820 or an ACT sum score of 68.

· The SAT score used for NCAA purposes includes only the critical reading and math sections. The writing

section of the SAT is not used.

· The ACT score used for NCAA purposes is a sum of the four sections on the ACT: English, math, reading and

science.

· All SAT and ACT scores must be reported directly to the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse by the

testing agency. Test scores that appear on transcripts will no longer be used. When registering for the

SAT or ACT, use the clearinghouse code of 9999 to make sure the score is reported to the

clearinghouse.
