DavidKing
Bernie's got it all wrong. RM doesn't want to have anything to do with the MVC. He left the small-time when he left Ball State. My well informed people tell me what he really wants is the CCC- Catholic Collegiate Conference. The teams for the conference haven't been finalized yet, but think: SLU Notre Dame Georgetown Creighton Marquette DePaul Xavier St. Johns St. Joes who's missing? Anyway, as many of you probably know Pope Benedict XVI is a rabid basketball fan. But, as many of you probably don't know, he and RM have been friends ever since RM gave the then Cardinal Ratzinger courtside tickets to the Final 4 in 1998. Well, the pending official seal of approval from JC's right hand man will be all it takes to finalize plans for the CCC. I, for one, am on board 100%. kevinfootes
the only shcools on that list who would benefit (as things stand right now) are SLU and St. Joe. I do agree that having a biger name coach could hel SLU get into a league like that if it ever materialized.
davidnark
You don't believe Creighton would benefit from that conference?
GOSLU68
Dayton Detroit San Francisco Dons we used to play them and a Denver team quite often? I don't know how they have done lately
kevinfootes
Creighton seems to be doing well right where they are. Even if you throw them in the mix, that's 3 schools. Not really much of a conference. Throw in Detroit and Loyola and you're on your way to the MCC.
STLfan
This would be a nice start to a Mid-West based Catholic League but we would need two more competitive teams to add to it. DePaul Marquette Notre Dame Saint Louis Xavier Dayton Creighton The best conference for SLU though would be the bball schools from the Big East plus SLU, Dayton, Creighton, and X. Creighton Dayton DePaul Georgetown Marquette Notre Dame Providence Saint Louis St. Johns Seton Hall Vilanova Xavier Break it East and West WEST Cregihton DePaul Marquette Notre Dame Saint Louis Xavier EAST Dayton Georgetown Providence St. Johns Seton Hall Vilanova I bet that league would send five or six teams to the tournament every year. STLfan
With No Big East schools. Midwest private league (not just catholic) Bradley Butler Creighton Dayton Drake Evansville Loyola Chicago Saint Louis Valparaiso Xavier Ranked by this years RPI 20 - Creighton 27 - Butler 38 - Bradley 33 - Xavier 74 - Saint Louis 75 - Dayton 101 - Loyola Chicago 113 - Drake 131 - Evansville 164 - Valparaiso Would have been a 3 or 4 bid league this year and wouldn't have had any heavy rpi anchors like this. The last four teams in the A10 222 - Duquesne 268 - La Salle 272 - Richmond 278 - St. Bonaventure
jjray
>>Bradley Butler Creighton Dayton Drake Evansville Loyola Chicago Saint Louis Valparaiso Xavier<< Quite a league but would be cool to expand with similar schools from the A10 creating an east and west conference with 14 teams: St. Joe, LaSalle, George Washington, Rhode Island. That would be something of the dreamed for great papal conference.
slu72
RI's not private. Is Temple private or public? I believe it's a state school.
Billi from Philly
Temple is a state school....acts in many ways like a small private school when it comes to athletics....
