Nate Latsch
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I wonder if Mike Montgomery's name will come up for this job. I've been told he applied for the Illinois State job. He has to have some sort of connection to Levick. Just throwing it out there. - Nate
SShoe
Frank and Rammer just suggested that...
pompeytir
A few years of being (outcoached) in the NBA along with his success at Standford, he'd be ready to give this program the next push. I imagine he's a better coach now than a few years ago (see NBA)and he could always recruit at Standford. HIRE MONTY!
Westy03
In my opinion this would be the ideal hire for SLU.
brianstl
He did not apply for the IL St. job, but he does have connections to CL. This is one that is not as far fetched as some others. If something is already in the works Monty would make sense and so would O'Niell
Quest
Monty would be great.
alameda bob
He said he wasn't interested in the Santa Clara job a few weeks ago, so I would not get my hopes up too high. But you can always dream.
jjray
Here is a bio: http://www.nba.com/coachfile/mike_montgomery/ Even a failed NBA coach would be a big fish for our program but would he be willing to jump into a situation so late in the recruiting cycle under such duress? Quest
Yes, but given his success at Stanford and recruiting the likes of Mark Madsen and Josh Childress, we could use a guy who can recruit.
jimbofive
We'd better spend a million and we'd better make the tournament no later than '08. This kind of feels like dad selling the old station wagon halfway across a cross country trip. If you get a bada$$ sports car in the next day or two, you're alright with the delay. However, if dad farts around and blows your souvenir money on a Buick LeSabre that smells like cigarettes and Colon Blow®, you're gonna toss a F'ing fit in the backseat. Basketbill
Cerntainly one thing that SLU has going for it, is that the hires that Cheryl has made have been solid. Shimmy, the volleyball coach, field hockey etc.... she certainly would know montgomery from stanford, keeping an assistant coach or two would help decrease the impact of Montgomery not having recruiting ties.
