The part about Holtman assumes that Chris May is being allowed to make decisions in this process. I’m not entirely sure that that is accurate.

I sure as hell hope you're right.

I love the mid to late 90s era of Billiken basketball.  I wish we could go back there.  But I don't think it's useful to rehash what happened 30 years ago in a very different social environment.  We had strong crowds even in a down year during that period.  That would not happen today.  Bandwagon culture is a lot more ruthless now.  There were a lot more families attending sporting events back then as well.

…or they really have better things to do than to see a lame duck “coach” attempting to coach.

F... Ford, May and anyone else who complaints of attendance at mid-week games, this town likes basketball and wants SLU to be good...the old fans remember the huge crowds when the teams were good.  Here are some attendance highlights from the 1994 season.  These were fun games and hot tickets.

Date Day of Week Attendance Opponent
    2/23 Tuesday 18,411 Cincinnati
    2/19 Friday 18,033 UAB
    2/9 Tuesday 16,453 Iowa St
    2/6 Saturday 17,209 Depaul
    2/2 Tuesday 14,791 Dayton
    1/26 Wednesday 18,158 Marquette
    1/11 Tuesday 18,073 Memphis St.
    12/30 Thursday 17,117 SUIC

Not to be blasphemous, but it really felt like Spoon was a Godsend. I’ll always be greatful for what Grawer did to revive the program, but Spoonhour took the program to another level unseen in Midtown and the metro since the 50’s.

I was hoping we could just pull one out vs Dayton and put a blemish on our rivals but this is bad at the 14 minute mark they're getting deep in the bench

Nah, Ford doesn't deserve a top 25 win long after cratering the program.

I feel your pain.  This board has devolved into a den of cynicism and sarcasm.  It seems to be dominated by angry, underemployed and unfunded millennials (+ ABomb & Brian) who have a lot of time on their hands.  Any disagreement with their party line leads to group attack and shaming which drives those posters away.  Oh well.

Yes, let’s blame the frustration of a program and athletic department’s ability to get in their own way for 40 years on a pair of posters from a different generation, you know, what should be the next generation of Billikens fans, because that’ll get them to go down there and spend their money.

Lol Brighton, why are you even here? Everyone's already down and angry. This program landed Majerus and had Charlie Spoonhour, I wouldn't call that squandering. We just need the AD to reform (without Chris May) and get its head out of its a** and we'll be ok again.

And how did they follow up after the little success they had ? That’s the point

FYI - SLU added a game at Lindenwood for tomorrow afternoon, I assume to make up for the game that was washed out Sunday.  Lindenwood took one out of three at Dayton to open their season this weekend.   Looks like it should be a pretty nice afternoon for baseball.

There really isn’t anything worth commenting on.  I tried to hang in this season and hold on to some semblance of growth or hope but it’s just not gonna happen.  Fire Ford midseason, it’s too much.

Why am I supposed to care about this team when the SLU administration doesn’t.

Which is exactly what Bernie Miklasz said last week, and that’s when I caved in.  It’s sad. This program and SLU athletics as a whole have some much potential in a metro of nearly three million, has a top 25 media market ranking, and where the NBA hasn’t been a fixture for five decades and yet, none of that matters if the higher ups are incapable of looking at the big picture and or too stubborn to get with the times.

They’re better off moving down a division or three as they further slide into permanent irrelevancy.

It’s tiresome wanting more for SLU than it appears to want for itself. Both May and Ford are dead weight, but hey Don’t judge results, just happily let them cash checks for ever. Got it. Accepting failure is worse than failing.

I wish I could like this.

All that purple area just south of the Minnesota Gophers should be commandeered two weeks from today when SLU squares off against St. Thomas... then Maine the next day.  Glad they're not hockey matches.

Temps in Port Charlotte, FL slated to be high 70s - low 80s.   Oh, to be a snowbird...

    I know the feeling.
